Why was Accounts-google.com registered to Google inc, 1600 Ampitheatre Parkway at least as far back as 2013? http://www.domainhistory.net/a... and via MarkMonitor https://www.markmonitor.com/ which "protects the leading brands". YAN has been laughing about this all day. Didn't anyone bother to check any of this??

The top of the line is MarkMonitor. If you have to ask how much they cost, you can't afford them. They're the registrar for "gm.com", "ford.com", "bankofamerica.com", etc. If something goes wrong with one of their domains, alarm bells ring at their monitoring center and DNS experts, investigators, and lawyers swing into action.
Network Solutions can be difficult to deal with, but they register enough corporate domains that they have a support organization that's not a joke.
GoDaddy is generally considered to be near the bottom of the heap. You might register your personal blog with GoDaddy. Maybe.
Down at the bottom is eNom, the leader in junk domain registration. That's where you register your 100,000 typosquatting domains.

You could go with what Google and Yahoo use.
MarkMonitor. They also seem to include services to register your domain (i.e. trademark, company name) across basically all the TLDs and ccTLDs as well as protection from phishing (so that would probably including registering all the typo.com et al. domains as well). Be warned, however, that it appears they also set the clientTransferProhibited, clientDeleteProhibited, and clientUpdateProhibited flags (according to GNU whois using VeriSign's whois database), so of course that would help from domain squatters and other spammers and phishers from acquiring your domain name if you forgot to renew (which I'd assume they allow for automatic renewal), but it may or may not be a hassle to transfer your domain in the future. I'd assume they're nice about allowing you (or your company) and only you to transfer the domain name to another service, but I don't have experience with them, so I can't say for sure.
With the service they provide and the target customer (businesses), you can probably be sure they're not going to touch your domain name without the police getting involved. What they're selling is also a guarantee that your domain name (and therefore, your company brand and image) is protected.
So, based on that, I'd recommend looking into it and seeing if it's in your price range. -

How do we know that Filipe isn't a disgruntled employee waiting to take the company down from the inside?
If he is, he's certainly established a good front. He currently owns almost all the variations of "forbes" and "sucks" (including this article's "from the X department", forbesucks.com). Though he somehow missed forbessucks.org. As interesting as it sounds, I don't think I'll bother adding it to my collection.
Actually, the tipoff that it's not just a potentially disgruntled employee comes from another whois detail, the registrar:

OK, you missed my penis joke... but the big guys now often use services which look after their domains as intellectual property... see, for example, MarkMonitor, who Google uses (check the whois for gmail.com).

Or it's just a smart way of protecting their IP.
Please note that the registrar is http://www.markmonitor.com whose raison d'etre is protection of intellectual property. It could be as simple as Google trying to prevent anyone else from registering gbrowser.com and using it to make a quick buck. Or that plus a good way to keep their future options open. I'm not sure Google needs Microsoft declaring all-out war on them so soon after their IPO.
