Re:Threshold of old
Your comment brought to mind a recent Sheldon Comics take on how you react to basic pain.
In my case, my pain in getting up from the floor is usually in my muscles which protest at having been kept in a particular position for too long. A couple of seconds and I'm back to normal.
In any event, I think we can agree that old age doesn't begin at 25.

Re:Data is plural.
That said, I think "data" counts as a "non-count" noun in its typical modern usage. Like "information", or "water", or "peanut butter", it may be composed of many individual bits, but it's talked about as a blob, not as a large number of individual bits.

Re:Its their fault
Forget XKCD, this calls for an oblig Sheldon.

Re:Massive headline FAIL
I like how a recent Sheldon comic described British libel laws:
Sheldon: "British libel laws are the worst! A fat-head can sue you for callin' him a fat-head, even when it's demonstrable in court that he's a total and complete fat-head... even to OTHER fat-heads!"
Arthur: "What? No way. Then how do they call out fat-heads in Britain?"
Sheldon: "The nation suffers in silence."

Re:Meh
Everything under the hood is "the engine".
The monitor is "the computer".
The computer is "the hard drive".If you don't know how or when to listen to people, you should hide out on the interweb.

Yeah, sure. A big part of tech support is often personal interaction - something some of our fellow techies need serious work on. But that's just blowing off the issue.
A monitor is "the computer" except for when it's actually the monitor. And "the hard drive" is the computer except when they're actually talking about a hard drive. The thing is confusing and complex enough without adding to the confusion with mismatched terminology (i.e. from the article someone expecting that "replacing a hard drive" was getting them an entirely new system).

Do we really know the whole story?

They are obsessed with pushing you to use their Website rather than calling them.
Seems so appropriate -
