Re:I don't know any SJW types
Just to add to the irony: while Sarkeesian has basically only said "It'd be nice if they made games aimed at women, and some games have gender based tropes that are harmful to women and often to men, so if you're developing a video game, it'd be nice if you kept that in mind, thanks", and Thompson has said "We should ban Grand Theft Auto because I don't like it", Gamergaters actually held Thompson up as a hero at one point in the whole Gamergate fiasco.
...which was probably only a surprise to people who thought Gamergate was about anything other than hating women and minorities. -

The raw logs:
Independent GamerGate release of full logs: http://puu.sh/boAEC/f072f259b6...
Original partial release that prompted GG to doc dump: https://storify.com/strictmach...
Basically Quinn made her post, and then GG released full logs in the hope that the vast amount of information would overload anyone looking at it. Unfortunately they didn't reckon with grep and the fact that they used easily searchable keywords, so you can verify everything quite easily.

If you scroll down a bit in either article there is a screenshot of where a 4chan anon invented #notyourshield to "deflect genuine criticism." They have form of course, they also invented #EndFathersDay.

Re:DailyWail
Besides the BBC non-apology, there is at least one other report that when specifically asked if it was a joke he said that yes it was a joke but it is kind of true that women are hard to work with because they are too emotional. The he was "just being honest." Note that he made the above clarification before the internet had even heard about the original 'joke.'

Re: Run out the Clock
The prosecutors have changed from one that wasn't interested in pursuing investigation (a man) to one that was interested in pursuing investigation (a woman). Male prosecutors not interested in pursuing rape changes isn't a new problem in legal systems.
Can you back up this claim of the women changing their stories?
By the way, there is no question that the rape allegations meet the test to be considered rape under UK law and therefore subject to extradition.
Legal myths about the Assange extradition
[Add: this post is now supplemented by my more detailed post on the legal mythology of Julian Assange; also do see this excellent post by barrister Anya Palmer.]
Please note that particularly relevant in this case are the three English court rulings which are freely available on-line: Magistrates’ Court, High Court, and Supreme Court.
One: “The allegation of rape would not be rape under English law”
This is flatly untrue. The Assange legal team argued this twice before English courts, and twice the English courts ruled clearly that the allegation would also constitute rape under English law.
(See my post at Jack of Kent for further detail on this.)

Re:So where's the transcript?
Since most open source software is developed over the internet, "on the internet nobody knows you're a dog."
Says user BarbaraHudson
:-)You hammer on a point too long, you turn potential supporters right off.
Indeed, which is one of the key tactics of the MRAs. You can find extensive discussion of how they created hundreds of sock puppet accounts and astroturfed the hell out of both sides in an attempt to both confuse and cause people to turn off with fatigue: http://archive.is/Ler4O
Those are the logs published by the MRAs themselves, by the way. Raw and unedited, massive but easy to search. For some hints on what to search for check out https://storify.com/strictmach...

MRA vs WRA
I like the dichotomy here.
Mens Rights Activists, vilified by the official narrative and openly mocked for having concerns by post-modernist radfems and their sycophants in the media, stage a polite boycott about a movie they dislike.
Militant Women Supremecists, praised as holy saints who can do no wrong by official narrative, openly harass an award winning feminist writer until he has to flee Twitter to avoid the twitter public shaming mob instigated by the white knight moron behind Anita Sarkeesian's con game.
It's the Women are Wonderful effect in action. Fascinating to see, really.
Oh, and Aaron Clarey has a rebuttal video about this mess, which is being ignored as it doesn't fit narrative:

Re:Its about child support
You can't have it both ways, chuck. If you want men to be sensitive and vulnerable... willing to cry... and share their feelings... then you need to not tell them they're man babies whenever they point out that the system is in some respects biased against them.
When did I say I wanted men to be "sensitive and vulnerable...willing to cry...and share their feelings"? I mean, goddamn, all you do is share your feelings like a toddler with a wet diaper. I'm advocating growing up.
As to raping and killing women, this is just idiotic strawman... who is advocating that?
I'm glad you asked:

You drew a face on your ass... then pulled your pants down, opened your asshole, and made shit come out of the mouth your drew on your butt. You are speaking... shit.
You know, that's not the first reference you've made to stuff going in and out of butts. This is more verification of my theory that Men's Rights Activists became whiny manbabies because of trauma associated with potty training. You just couldn't make mommy proud, and now you're going to show them bitches!

Re:It Remains a Journalism Scandal. Deal With It.
No matter how you try to spin it, in the end GamerGate put the last nail in its own coffin with the IRC log dump:
https://storify.com/strictmach...
http://wehuntedthemammoth.com/...Keep in mind GamerGate released this material itself, it doesn't contest it or claim that it was manipulated in any way.
It doesn't matter how much you keep repeating these copy/pasta talking points, because the IRC logs clearly show that it is just a part of the strategy to attack women. The people gathering this material, the ones pushing the ethics angle, openly admit they are just doing it to cover their misogyny.
GameGate has been exposed for what it really is, if there was ever any doubt.

Re:Wonderful.
The fact that GamerGate hates Social Justice Warriors so much illustrates what it is really about. It's about being upset when people criticise video games and gamer culture. It's like someone came onto your server and pwned you, and now you are lashing out in retaliation. Problem is they are better than you, they came with detailed arguments presented clearly in accessible video format, without any screaming or ranting or profanity. So now you turn it into a game, because games are what you are good at.
But hay, don't take my word for it. Here are the IRC chat lots from GamerGate's core. They published them themselves in an attempt to docdump, hoping no-one would find all the bad stuff. Unfortunately for them, people can grep:

Re:Three Cheers for Zoe Quinn
Yep, the 'feminist' game jam where the woman involved doesn't learn anything about how to code games at all, and is allowed to just submit an idea while men do all the work for her, because she shouldn't worry her pretty little head about the hard code stuff, right?
The same feminist game jam that she did not, in fact, shut down - she linked to it on Twitter and it went down due to traffic. That hasn't stopped them from trying to exploit that for publicity, of course.
/v/ and /pol/ only helped fund it to try and 'gotcha' Zoe in the middle of her being harrassed and threatened by the exact same boards.Don't have to listen to me though - her side of the story is documented here. It paints a very different picture than your average Gamergate proponent would have you believe.

Re:Swedish Puppets
And what does the Swedish legal system say about extraditing criminals to the U.S.?
Well, if you're ACTUALLY interested in seeing what the Swedish law says about extradition to the US, you could start by familiarizing yourself with the actual Swedish-US extradition treaty that's been in force since 1963.
After you've read through that, if you're STILL interested, you can go read the Swedish government's publications on what the European Arrest Warrant program entails. There's some good links there where you can actually read the EU's legislation about EAWs, as well as some factual information from Sweden about surrender to and from Sweden under EAW.
After that, you can go read the UK Magistrate Court's decision about the validity of the EAW, in which they upheld the validity of the EAW and ordered Mr. Assange surrendered to Swedish authorities. A little further digging will help you find both the UK High Court's decision as well as the UK Supreme Court's decision on his appeals related to the validity of the EAW.
After you've read all that, if you're REALLY interested in understanding how things work, you can go read even more of the full review of the details of the case, as well as a cogent, well-written piece by a real lawyer in the UK who talks about why Sweden doesn't just "come interview Assange in London."
do they just throw his ass on a plane to the U.S. the second he's stupid enough to set foot on Swedish soil?
Oh, you weren't ACTUALLY interested in learning anything about the ACTUAL facts of the case. You were just trying to repeat a pro-Assange soundbite. Silly me.

Re:How many years could he be charged with?
That's why they want to ask questions before arresting him.
Please, please go read the actual legal documents, and read up on the Swedish legal system. The questioning that he's wanted for is a phase of his due process that he is REQUIRED to be given under Swedish law.
Go read https://storify.com/anyapalmer... - an actual lawyer with actual understanding of how the process works explains why they "just want him for questioning."
A formal indictment happens late in the trial process in Sweden, because - and I know this may come as a surprise! - some places in the world do not work exactly as the US does, and your understanding of the legal process in the US may not actually map well to the legal process in Sweden.
Any argument that Assange is just wanted for questioning because the charges aren't really serious is tantamount to saying, "I don't believe Julian Assange should be granted the full course of due process under the law by Sweden." Which means you're either hoping he'll get freed on appeal due to a mistrial, or you think it's completely okay for Assange's due process to be violated, which means you should also be fine with Sweden giving him over to the US and violating his due process just a little more.
Either you are for Assange being given the full extent of his due process under the law (which means an in-person interview before being considered 'indicted', no matter how silly that may seem to you), or you are against it - in which case he should just be whisked away whenever is convenient for the US.

Re:I couldn't go to a war zone...
Maybe you could have just taken a road trip to Ferguson, Missouri where the cops have more body armor and weaponry than almost any troops in a war zone.

The snippers (atop amoured personnel carriers) are there to help them win the respect of the local citizens. Arresting journalists just give added authenticity. -
Re:and yet
Can you explain why the Swedish prosecutors would not come to the UK to talk to him?
Because the legal system of Sweden is not an a la carte buffet, where you can pick and choose which legal requirements you uphold based on the convenience and whims of the accused.
Assange: "Sorry, I don't feel like showing up to court today."
Judge: "Oh, did you have a sleepless night? In that case, case dismissed, all charges dropped."The law, and the real world, don't work that way. The investigators are under NO obligation to conduct their investigation in a way that's convenient for Assange. In fact, by doing anything "extraordinary" to accommodate him, they are setting a precedent that his due process wasn't followed properly. In addition, they're opening themselves up to possible diplomatic spats by violating jurisdiction of local law enforcement agencies by sending investigators abroad.
But by all means, since you'll trot out the same tired, faulty logic that Assange's supporters have been trying to pretend there's no legitimate objections to:

Here's one reason why it's taking so long...These are the kinds of trees and tree branches I was driving through as they fell Friday night.
Even when hurricanes pass by they don't cause this much damage. The straight-line winds gusting to 70 MPH (115 KPH) for over 15 minutes is what brought a lot of things down that wouldn't normally have come down in a storm.
As it is, I never lost power (for a change) but I'm working from home due to the office complex where I work is in autistic mode because of Verizon not being able to get some central system online.
I hate to think what would happen if we were ever hit full-on by a Category 5 hurricane...

Re:Numbers Please for the "Occupy" Repression
Really??? Seriously? You wrote this whole post out when you could have typed about 8 words in Google to find your answers.
Here is a listing: http://storify.com/jcstearns/tracking-journalist-arrests-during-the-occupy-prot
Many are 'bloggers', students, photojournalists and other citizens media which you seem to think don't count as press but many of them are credentialed journalists from reputable firms such as the New York Times, Associated Press, NPR, WSJ and Reuters.
Also, these are just the arrests of journalists. This doesn't count the other shady tactics such as timing raids for when press are out of the area and deliberately barring press from being near the area when raids are occurring.
