Re:Holy Buzzowrds, Batman.Surprise modeling?
Look, you may not understand surprise modelling, but there is a whole subculture dedicated to it.

When? Probably soon.
"How long before we read the first story of some, um, inappropriate footage captured with one of these?"
I don't know when, but I know where. But this is nothing new. Go to the Voyeur Photos section and you'll find out that most of upskirt shots are made with custom cammeras hidden in shoes.

giga-pr0n
I'm not really into pictures with bullshit site- and phonesex ads on them, but if the web is your choice...
Boobdex.com is a good start.
And I like the amateur pages at Voyeurweb. I get lots of goodness from Coolio's Babelog as well.
You might also spend some quality time at Domai or Kindgirls, which both have much free goodness.
If you're willing to put your money where your mouth is, Hegre-Archives is awesome, as are Quantum Proadult and Met Art. Playboy's CyberClub can keep a downloader busy for weeks.
Hardcore really isn't my area of interest, but holy crap, if you're even making jokes about pr0n, regular slashdotter NineNine has just the site for you
I use scripts to grab most of my smut, but I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the Mozilla extensions Linky and Magpie which combine to make my life as a pr0n browser much more pleasant. -
Not only WMD -- there's a huge mainstream market
A friend of mine (who is a total pervert, deep into "upskirt" business and who even runs his own website dedicated to voyeurism deviation -- hi, Igor) told me recently that "an old-school shoe pinhole camera can only get us this far -- there are serious limitations which we need to overcome if we really want this industry to evolve." I am sure he could find a good use for these cockroaches as soon as they hit the mainstream market being equipped with a wireless mini camera. I can already see www.cock-roaches.com banner ads. This is really great news. (For perverts, that is.)

Any bets on how long it will be before these see-through scans in secure areas end up on this site?

Here you go. And consider subscribing to redclouds. It's not all that bad.

Re:do this
Good guess, but wrong..
:)
I've been watching our usage trends for years.. Highest traffic is Mondays, descdending all week until Sunday.
Have a look at this graph http://www.voyeurweb.com/NY_BW_day.png
This is our bandwidth usage at our New York 1Gb line.. (one of three). I grabbed it right from our monitoring and put it up, unmodified. Our graph reads left to right (obviously, look at the numbers). Times at the bottom are marked in Eastern.
We follow very typical curves, that follow the workday of the typical US office worker.
6am, people start waking up and heading to work.
9:30am, we post our updates, which sync with the web servers at 10am (note the roughly 100Mb/s jump). We were playing with servers at 11:30 to noon, so excuse the dip. That traffic went to Florida.
Between 1pm and 4pm, traffic dips down while people are have lunches..
Between 4pm and 6pm, people have come back from lunch, get in some porn (usually equal to the morning peak).
6pm to 9pm, people are driving home, having dinner with the family, playing with the kids, molesting the babysitter, hearing about headaches from the wife. Whatever they do, it's none of my business.
9pm, traffic picks up as the kids go to bed, and the wife downs her third vodka martini and goes to bed alone. It comes up a bit (when you'd *THINK* it should be highest), until midnight to 1am, when it then drops off..
1am to 6am, most people are asleep. Consider most of the users to be over in the European timezones.. Oh ya, and you night owls.. :)
I know people *LOVE* their company bandwidth.. :)
Our curves are like this every day.. The Florida and New York 1Gb lines match almost exactly. Todays peak was 342.3 in New York. That makes it 684Mb/s between Florida and New York. Add a few hundred Mb/s more for our locations in San Diego, and Los Angeles (three of them).
BTW, I'm sure everyone would love what we put together in Los Angeles. 1Gb/s fiber between all our cabinets. No more silly 100Mb/s cables between switches. :)
For those interested, we do free hosting for adult sites. Check out http://proadult.com. If you want to get a sweet deal on bandwidth, check out http://l3vip.com.. Since it's on topic, I couldn't help but advertise a little bit..

Outback Dingo
You must be wondering about the leader of MicroBSD, Outback Dingo, and his life story. So let me pour some light on the subject.
I had the questionable honor of working with Outback Dingo, and I did it for five years, when we both worked in the now-defunct Calamada Industries. It was horrible at first, but I managed to develop survival techniques that helped me to avoid him and his "work noises".
Yes, every day he was coming to the office and claiming he got work to do, and then he entered his room, put some George Michael music and started making noises. I don't even want to contemplate on what he was doing there.
After around 6 hours he would come out, all sweaty and dripping, and say: "Well, I believe I can call it a day". A real outback dog or what? -
Re:I'm confused too!
Good.. I was thinking we're idiots too.. Either that, or I need to start routing all my traffic down the most conjested pipes to watch it go faster.
:)
I've worked with our provider a bit with routing. We have mirrored servers in colo's around the country. If one city is conjested, we move traffic *AWAY* from the conjestion. Usually our traffic makes a difference for everyone else. I can have 500Mb/s added or removed from any given city within an hour, without flinching. Of course, before I do something like that, I put in a call first.. "Hey, can this city take 500Mb/s right now?"
We wrote a program to take traceroutes from all the cities to various points, and plot them all onto a big network map, with ping times and the like.. We know which cities, peerings, or lines have problems at a glance..
http://www.voyeurweb.com/network.12.23.2002-11h.pn g
Warning: This picture is *BIG*. It's of our networks in Los Angeles, New York, Tampa, between each other, and to all of the root nameservers.. It makes a rather extensive map that is 11580x2669. It won't fit on your screen. Save it, and take it into your favorite image editing software to view it..
This map is a little old (Dec 23, 2002 at 11am), but it gives a good impression of what the networks immediately around our servers looked like, and how they interact with each other.. Shitty networks stand out in red.. I definately wouldn't want to MORE of my traffic that way. Sometimes we don't have a choice. If your ISP uses a shitty provider, we have to send it that way..

Of course the military!
If you could put cameras on these things they would be great for espionage. I imagine the military would love to see some tiny radio controlled flying vehicles with video capture capability.
Oh, right, the military! This is exactly what I thought when I read about "tiny radio controlled flying vehicles with video capture capability." I surely can't see any better uses for them. (Who said I do?!)

Ahhh, the Good Old Days
When we'd wait 20 minutes to download a multipart uuencoded
Usenet binary to able to view a picture to spank it to.
Yes, masturbation has come quicker. We have bandwidth to thank for our higher productivity.
When we think about women every x.5 seconds, we can do something about it.

Re:I don't understand this ruling
They can't tell it's you from that angle, so what difference does it make?
You assume that the photographer is only taking pictures from that one... erm... worm's-eye angle. Judging by the content of at least one site devoted to the practice, however, these pics are usually accompanied by easy-to-identify full-figure street shots of that same person. (God forbid the wankers lack a proper real-world context for their little fantasies.)In short, it makes a hell of a lot of difference to the person in the photos.
What? Why are you looking at me like that? I mistyped a URL once, I swear...

Re:In other words...
The database server handling the message areas for Voyeurweb, RedClouds, and feedback areas for the same has answered 28,442,099 questions in the last 13 days. That's when we finalized changes to it.. Before that, it had been running for 2 years.
I wish we only had 5mil hits/day.. One web server takes 18mil req/day.. We have bunches of 'em out there. :)

Did I mention we're a Linux shop? -
Voyeurweb
My bosses allow for 0 downtime with Voyeurweb.. It only takes a bit of magic, a lot of available bandwidth, and redundant servers in multiple physical locations. Hell, we're slashdot proof.

Big deal.
So the robot follows the sun. Big frickin' deal. I've trained my Aibo to follow co-eds in short skirts. It's even trained to take pictures with its 640x480 CCD camera and upload them to Igor on voyeurweb.
All I'm saying is that NASA seems to spend a lot of time worrying about not getting lost on Mars, and not enough time worrying about how to take compromising photos of those fly-ass Martian babes I saw in those fifties sci-fi flicks. -
Like that X.camI couple this right along with that X.cam always being advertised on ZDNet. You know the one - the advertisements always spout "security concerns" while showing gorgeous models.
Sounds like another excuse to create photos for VoyeurWeb.

Dodgy funding for this...
I hear that this system is being funded by Igor from Voyeurweb and Red Clouds, in exchange for any scans of "sweet chicks". Personally I'd rather see some more of those Wearable-PC models, but I'm just a geek I guess...
