Re:Nice hat. Tinfoil?OH! Of course!; What was I thinking?; I must be out of my mind to not have not seen the 'glaring hole' in my argument. I can't believe I didn't think about checking for an ID on the corpse. I wish I'd thought of that before I played dumb and hoped you wouldn't see why my showing ID at the gate was stupid.
Showing your ID at the gate along with a ticket with your name on it allows the airline to tell your family that yes, you boarded the plane that is currently burning, sinking, or that shattered into a million pieces, but no, we haven't found the body yet. Nor do we expect to, since the largest piece of that particular plane is about the size of a tire. Which, incidentally, is still burning, having been doused by 24,000 gallons of airline fuel that covered it when it fell apart 1/2 hour ago. Sorry. We'll of course pay you for your loss, instead of
... I don't know... making you wait a month or two for us to find the pocket in which your family members stored their ID card, which of course will survive the fire. What any of this has to do with your freedom, right to privacy or anything else is completely secondary to the reason the airlines started recording who was on which flight.

Re:odd choice
Anyway, were I in 4th grade, I'd submit "nibbler."
I'm surprised none of the many replies to the parent didn't mention the heavy cute little eating machine from Futurama, also named Nibbler.
And I think it's entirely appropriate: their products may look cute, but they're backed by several 600,000 pound gorillas who are busy gobbling up as much of the world as they can.

Yes, GeoCities free home pages and Sitebuilder software. They also have Yahoo photos that lets people publish photo albums.

Yawn!Call me back when they've perfected the dual mode housepet/bus design. I think the big hang up is the emissions, namely building a catalytic converter that can handle hairballs.

Don't make her MAD you'll be sad.
this gal looks like she would be pissed if she lost one SMS text.
The whole Ap article here.
My typical text message is "Hi Sweetheart I miss you. I watered the plants. The cats are being weird." Cost about 10 cents, a phone call to do the same thing costs 25 or more cents. We use pre-paid Virgin Mobile. If I have to leave a phone number to have her call someone she doesn't have to dig for a pen and paper. This is mostly about 98% of all non business texting.
If China thinks it needs to monitor and censor this kind of crap it really shows how fearful the oligarchy is of loosing it's grip. It's going to spend a lot of time and effort staring at white noise. -
Well. In the end, how much do you want to spend?
Get a Paladin Toner and Probe (somewhere around $80) or something similar. Get your son/wife/trainedchimp to go through jacks plugging in the toner (cellphones help here; or just yell real loud) while you tone the cable to find which one is which.
Assuming you are putting these cables in a Patch panel you can just masking tape label them until you get them into their ports. Worst case is the tape comes off and you have to retone your wires (you didn't seem to have more than 30?). As for Making it look pretty just go with whatever cable management fits your budget and your mounting method. If it's in a basement and the stuff isn't gonna be bumped, you might as well go with an open relay rack bolted into your floor (you can hacksaw them down to size fairly easily since they are usually aluminum).

Re:Not sure what an Extended Keyboard isMainly the feel of using it. The "extended" in the name refers to the fact that it's a full 105-key keyboard (Apple used to also make a smaller keyboard lacking the page up/down, extra command/option and F keys, IIRC usually sold with the SE and LC computers), so in that regard it's nothing special compared to a standard PC keyboard.
But the actual use of it was great, because of the tactile feedback (the keys sort of clicked just at the moment the input actually was sent -- sounds trivial, but on more modern computers it's a little lacking) and the audible "click" the keys made was also nice to have as an audible feedback (if you're transcribing texts and can't look at the screen, that's helpful).
So it's a lot of little stuff. Not something for everyone -- I sure as hell wouldn't go so far as to shell out $90 for it, and am satisfied with my current Apple USB keyboard with the G5 -- but some people really need that.
I do like the additional labels on the keys, though -- something that's sorely lacking on Apple's newer keyboards (especially the non-US ones).
My question is, does it come in non-American layouts? From what I saw on the site and article, there was no mention of other layouts at all. (The physical layout is usually the same, just the keys are rearranged and in some cases labelled differently for special characters.)
Cheers,
Ethelred

Take a look at the photo of the actual X-43.
All the pics were of the Pegasus booster rocket which was dropped from a B-52. You can't even resolve the X-43 in those photos.
That X-43 is smaller than most of the bombs that B-52 has dropped in its lifetime. -

Re:Hmm, I dunno.
Checking post history on
/. is, imho, a bit like following you to a local "watering hole" and listening to the conversations that ensue.
/., as with most Internet sites I actually post, is a place to hang out and blow off steam. That is its purpose for a lot of people.
I'm certain if you looked over my posts, you might see an overall cynical trend. You'd probably get, just from my nick alone that I'm fed up with things. I don't come here looking for solutions to what ails me. I come here to commiserate. But that is worthless information in a hiring situation. Unless you think people should *never* complain, and are one of those "I'm upbeat 100% of the time!" people who really thinks supposedly motivational platitudes on posters are meaningful, you're probably an idiot, a fool, or corrupt.
Personally, I think looking at /. for any guidance on any decision is foolhardy. -

OT: Book of MormonI like your handle.
As a non-Mormon, the first time I read the Book of Mormon, Lehi and Nephi kept morphing in my head to "Nehi", a brand of sodas whose grape flavor was a fave of Radar on M*A*S*H.

SCO stock goes up?Interestingly, SCO's share price went up and Novell's down as soon as the press release was released at 3.25PM ET:

If I gave a dime, I would have probably spell checked it to begin with.
While so many others learned how to spell words correctly the first time. (Especially when purporting to quote something.)
Frankly, I wasn't making the light-hearted observation for your benefit but rather for others who make the same mistake and now, with you as a counterexample, may be able to avoid it. Mistakes. -
