Re:It's not the diet
Germany?! Lol! Obese, alcoholic, cretins who have been ridiculed and wiped out in every war you've been involved in your poor, irrelevant history. Let me remember you that your country was firstly dismembered into four parts, then two, and finally allowed to exist by the USSR and the US.
At least Italy has the most stunning architecture on the planet, 51 UNESCO World Heritage sites, a huge history, amazing food and clothing.
You are these losers here instead: https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

Re:How has he turned crazy?
Predicting Trump would be elected was a stroke of genius, but not because he could foresee the future.
It was more like a stab in the dark - people already thought he was kind of out there, so if he predicts trump and he's wrong, so what?
But if he's right, he's a genius!
And so is Michael Moore? (didn't he predict a trump win too?)
(Actually, they both are arguably geniuses even if I may not like them.)
There was a good chance that Hillary could have won and if she had we'd be calling Scott Adams an idiot. (right, like trump ever had a chance....)
Unless someone was involved in rigging the election there's no way anyone could have called it ahead of time without a Gambler's Roll

I'm seeing a resurgence in C
I'm seeing a resurgence in C. It seems to be coming from several different directions.
The first is from people like Mike Acton:
CppCon 2014: Data Oriented Design
https://www.youtube.com/watch?...The second is from all the new languages like Go, Rust, Swift. All these new languages need libraries so they all built in good C interoperability so they could be useful immediately without requiring ground up new implementations of everything. So I'm seeing more new pure C libraries being created now than I've seen in a very long time. Library developers know that their libraries will be usable from every language if they write it in pure C.
The third is from IoT. Embedded developers never left C. Now with IoT growing, C lives on.
In all of these cases, they might fly under TIOBE's radar. Most of these people probably don't need to search for C. They already know it and are too busy working on their projects.

Re:Who says I believe either?
Hillary Clinton stated multiple times she wanted a No Fly Zone in Syria would require us to go with Russia. Technically Russia isn't WWIII maybe nuclear war. Is that better ?
For some reason the US media didn't call out HIllary about the No Fly Zone at all. So we had to Russian outlets just to get any crictical information of Clinton, https://www.youtube.com/watch?... -

Air Pollution
People living near a busy road must invest some money in good air cleaner.
But if you are living near roads and buy an air cleaner, you must buy one with significant amount of activated carbon added. Flimsy sheet of "carbon filter media" does not do the trick of removing dangerous gases. You can a good air cleaner yourself.
Make something like this (more filter info and live test) and add a industrial grade activated carbon filter. -

Re: The Sun does Science
But this is a foreign nation which has blamed America for its woes and has had a grudge against America going back decades. Also this was a direct attack against the US electoral system using highly refined and targeted hacking and propaganda. In times when the US was a much stronger country that would have been seen as an act of war.
I doubt there is actually any direct connection between Trump and Putin, Putin is probably hoping Trump will do as much damage to America, and its democracy and economy as possible. Putin may well have disastrously miscalculated there, either for himself or the world. Lets face it no one really knows what Trump will do. He cant remotely fulfil all the promises he's made through because they flatly contradict each other..We really do live in interesting times. https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

Nice Option for a Very Few
If the computer dies, the monitor is still just fine and dandy, and can quite often be swapped into another bezel (or be ballsy and build a custom PC case with the monitor as a side-panel. Kits exist for this exact thing and they're like $30.)
Technically that's a valid point, and I just found this video which admittedly makes it look like a productive (and fun!) project for the right sort of person. I even kind of want to tear apart one of my retired laptops now and do it (thx for the idea btw).
But practically, it will almost never happen, and this epitome of vendor lock-in will pay off (and the vendors know it). I mean, the same is true of laptops, but I've never known anyone who's done this; have you? -

Re:50 Watts, huh?
So, does the sound system consume 50 watts of power in operation, or is it capable of converting 50 watts of power into sound?
Uncle Doug explains it pretty well.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?...
TLDW... Input 1k signal. Plug amp into a load with a known resistance. Turn up volume till it is max volume distortion free. Measure voltage to the load. P=V^2/R. This will give you RMS output. -
Re:break safety?
uhm, have you ever tried doing that? tempered glass is hard as hell to shatter (unless you hit it on an edge, which wouldn't be accessable in a crashed car scenario, or unless you have a heavy, pointed object.
-
Re:Not sure about the rest, but...
Your front windshield is already tempered. This provides much more resistance to chipping and breaking than the glass formulation. Basically, the glass is cooled in a way that the exterior is always in compression (glass is really, really strong in compression). This means when a rock hits your windshield, the force it imparts has to first overcome the glass' innate compression, before it can start to create tensile stresses and have a chance to chip or shatter the glass.
Smarter Every Day has a pretty good explanation of how tempering strengthens the glass. In the case of Price Rupert's drops, there's a weak point in the tail, but the exterior is strong enough to shatter lead bullets. For a plate windshield glass, the weak points are all internal and it's most vulnerable to impacts inwards from the edges. -

Video "America's best interests
... can be accomplished through corporation, not an adversarial relationship, with Russia",
"To help integrate Russia's economy with the world, I have reaffirmed our strong commitment to Russia's admittance to the world's trade organization",
and more Russia is great crap.Yea, that speech he made made it sound like he is more interested in helping Russia's economy and Putin than he is interested in any US interests. It is actually sickening to see how much of a puppet he is of Russia and how he is going to bend over to help them out at any costs.
Oh, you were talking about Trump who never said that. That video is made and brought to you by OBAMA.
Funny, you have a problem with Russia now, but didn't when Obama was kissing Putin's ass. But then again you only post to political threads with blindly stupid partisan crap and hope people, like me, don't find 6 year old videos when you were spouting the exact opposite. You are a special kind of stupid if you think we fall for it.

Too bad there's almost no real news left...
This whole thing is just laughable. We've gone over the technical evidence and it's really bad. But they do nothing to justify their other random conclusions.
So we now have the idiot Left telling us we can trust Clapper & co. based on secret evidence that Russia might have... online trolls? Oh, but never mind Correct the Record's self-described "nerd virgins." Or is it because Julian didn't refuse Russian interviews, never mind that he's been doing lots of interviews with many outlets for many years now? The whole report is simply moronic. It's not even a good effort. It's aimed at people who just read headlines from media who rarely ever link to one lest you find all the ways they're lying.
But in the report, we obviously don't care about all the money funneled by Saudi Arabia & Qatar to the Clinton Foundation. No, that would never influence a candidate. And it's not like those states have anything to do with funding Islamic terrorists, like that guy who murdered a Russian diplomat. Yes, we're very confused as to why one of the "moderate" Islamic terrorists Hillary & co. were supporting in Syria would be a callous murderer.
Please do keep on informing us so well, media. We clearly haven't figured out how to research things ourselves from primary sources. Please do keep telling us about how we get all our info from idiot Macedonian clickbait sites we've never even seen before. It's really convincing when we can read your own damn emails on our own and find out about Glen "because I have become a hack" Thrush and the WaPo party and Donna "I get the questions in advance" Brazille. Good thing I don't watch CNN, or I'd think that it was illegal to read Wikileaks. I'm guessing Cuomo is as good at law as he was at math.

Help me Obi Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope.
When Star Wars came out, it gave us a taste of what real 3D would look like.
Until the day when that sort of thing is available, so called 3D TV is no more than a pathetic attempt at hype by an industry looking to jack up the price on something which is otherwise just a commodity.

Re:Same Problem
That has the same problem. It may be 360 but it's just 2D. I would say it's 3D only when each eye is at least delivered different perspectives, which NO 360 capture devices I am aware of today do...
In the Rift/Vive/Gear, each eye is delivered different perspectives. It is true 3D. I don't think there's a commercial off-the-shelf capture system for such video yet, but you can whip up a custom rig and take true stereoscopic 180/360 video. Now, current capture devices only work from a fixed perspective (so no head moving to look around objects, outside real-time CGI rendered scenes), but they actually demoed tech that allows you to move your head.

Re:Prove the data wrong
I think you'll find it's the climate shills who aren't showing up to debate "deniers"
A few years back, Anthony Watts of the Climate Denier Central Clearinghouse known as Watts Up With That, hosted an online debate between Christopher Monckton and Peter Hadfield. Nearly all of the resident regulars were expecting His Lordship to deliver a proper trouncing to the impertinent plebe who dared to suggest that Monckton was full of bunkum.
It didn't go according to plan.
At some point, perhaps a day or two in, Monckton found more important challenges than defending his denialism.
He went looking for Obama's birth certificate - https://www.youtube.com/watch?... -

Misrepresent a Democrat's record
What misrepresentation.
Did the Clinton's not pass NAFTA?
Did the Clinton's not pass crime bills that tripled the black prison population?
Did the Clinton's not gut welfare, something Reagan could have only dreamed of?
Did the Clinton's not repeal Glass Steagall, which paved the way for the housing crisis?
Did Hillary not dog whistle at minority kids with her Superpredators speech?
Did Hillary not support the Iraq War, and advocate for many more across the Middle East?
I expect we'll be seeing a lot of this kind of nonsense in the next four years...or until Trump's impeachment for fraud or sexual assault.
You got your Trump 2020 sign on your lawn yet? Because that's what this "la la la" routine is going to get you. This election has seen the complete Birthering of Democrats, causing you to lose your damn minds and any connection to reality. Case in point:
Ah, so typical of a Trumpsucker.

Lexan
I've never heard of "appropriate protection" for panels that spend their life facing the sky.
Lexan - not only are my panels shielded with it, all my window panes are made of it. When we first moved into this building, a hailstorm took out all of our west-facing windows. I mean, completely, too. So I did a little research and found that Lexan was pretty much the best answer out there. Price-performance-lifetime is excellent.
If it ever shows any signs of significant decrease in transmission characteristics WRT panel efficiency, it's trivially replaced. I'm a huge fan.

Re:"Low-cost planetary missions"
Who actually thinks NASA will thrive under Donald fucking Trump? LOL.
I could see Trump being an enthusiastic supporter of manned spaceflight. Because, ya know, back during the mythic time that America was great, we landed on the fucking moon. "It was a beautiful moon; a 'uuuuge moment for our country. America will never be Great Again (tm) so long as we're doing laps in a tin can. And can you believe this - the space station was made in Taiwan. We need to go back to the Moon, bigly."
But the arguably more important (and higher-ROI) science and basic research that NASA works on? Shit, man, Trump has no use for knowledge, he's already smarter than everyone else. If anything I learned from the campaign, the President-elect hasn't a shred of intellectual curiosity in him, nor the humility to acknowledge that he doesn't actually know everything. He's finally in a position to stick it to the eggheads that made him look bad back in school. -
