So, we can actually talk about one concert pianist who did launch their career on youtube, Valentina Lisitsa. As you can see, she actually is quite talented. Somehow she did gain popularity there, which is good for her, but if you want to make big bucks in the classical music world, you need to hook in to the system, and she did that, going on the tour circuit. She was co-opted by the system, and now she's a typical musician.

Or the "Hour of Plumbing" to to learn how to replace the washer in a leaky tap? The "Hour of Cooking" so that the "microwave pizza pocket generation" can lean how to make a grilled cheese sandwich without f*cking it up or causing a fire? And how about the "Hour of RTFM" to teach people the importance of reading instructions BEFORE they break something? To save the health care system money, why not the "Hour of Evolution" so that people understand why giving antibiotics for every runny nose will lead to superbugs?

All of these are more important than any "Oh look I sort of - kind of - well not really but don't burst my bubble - coded a game."

This is crazy. I just watched that video last week (maybe not that crazy, it's one of the first hits on youtube about getting permanent residence in China). I lived in China for a year, and while it certainly has some downsides, I loved it. I was looking into moving back. I could get a visa and afford to live there. I'm an engineer, and I could theoretically (illegally) contract over the internet. My money would go much further. A student visa is a great way to get into the country with little to no real obligation. Ultimately that exact video turned me off to the idea. The Chinese government (Communist Party) is evil and unpredictable at the end of the day. Even if they are going to be benevolent to anyone, it will be Han Chinese first and foremost for the foreseeable future. Not so different from the US, I guess.

Whatever it is, he certainly put an end to using brain surgeon as a synonym for really smart.

LCDs don't work like that. They work by orienting two polarizers. The first is a fixed polarizer, which cuts the backlight's brightness to 50% and polarizes the light. The second is a polarizing liquid crystal layer whose orientation can be controlled electronically. Orient it parallel to the fixed polarizer and all the light going through the fixed polarizer is let through. Orient it perpendicular and it blocks (in theory) all the light going through. (In practice the polarizing is not perfect, so there's a little leakage. Which is why black pixels are not entirely black on an LCD.

However, adding a third polarizer does not help. At best, the same amount of light is blocked as with two polarizers perpendicular to each other. At worst, it allows more light to go through than two polarizers.

Whatever extra layer they're using, it's not a polarizer, so it can't be an LCD. It's probably some sort of electrochromic glass whose reflectivity (and thus opacity) can be controlled electrically. And they've figured out a way to divide the effect into zones which coincide with the pixels or groupings of pixels on the LCD. It probably doesn't have as much fine granularity of partial opacity as an LCD does (else they could just use it instead of LCDs since LCDs always block at least 50% of the backlight), LCDs have gotten good enough to where we can use them to generate 1024 shades (10-bit, though most panels are still 8-bit or 6-bit), while last I heard electrochromic glass was binary.

Besta Pizza's logo was one well-known to the FBI as a pedo symbol. If it wasn't incriminating, then why did they change it when it was exposed? Here's the same symbol on the The Elpida part of the Ratcliffe Foundation's website: all the way at the bottom row, first photo, the wall mural. Archived here for when it gets deleted - and why would it ever get deleted if it's not incriminating? Clearly a pedo symbol, aka "BL" aka "Boy Lover" according to the FBI. The art in Podesta's house is super-creepy and definitely pedo. See that gold one of the man bent over backwards? That's a recreation of a photo that a serial killer took after he beheaded his victim. More importantly, powerful people are telling you not to pay any attention. What should you do when this happens?

The guy is screaming for the investigation to stop. This narrative is being forwarded by the same people who brought you the fake news about the election. Who do you trust? The gatekeepers that we know for a fact are corrupt, or a bunch of independent investigators? It's one thing if the investigation turns up nothing. But it is entirely another to shriek and demand that the investigation stop, and attack the investigators. It was the "crazies from the internet" who took down Michelle Fields and her lies. Nobody is telling you to believe a crazy conspiracy theory. Just read for yourself, make your own decisions, come to your own conclusions. Don't trust the gatekeepers, they don't deserve your trust.
