For Li ion you need to stay below 80% state of charge to extend the battery life. The depth of discharge doesn't matter so much (the 0% level has plenty of safety margin above the true lower limit.)

My understanding is that LiPo battery wear mostly occurs at the top of the charge curve: a charge cycle 80%-0%-80% does about the same damage as 80%-20%-80%, but gives you more energy. A reason for avoiding low states of charge (below 20%) is that the internal resistance is higher, so it can't deliver a high current, but that's only relevant for worn-out phone batteries where the phone might shut down unexpectedly.

Note: If an end-user or agent fails to enter their password correctly ten times in a row, they are locked out and cannot sign in again until they reset their password.
Am I missing something? I get locking an IP address out of a system if too many incorrect login attempts are tried, but locking the whole account down? Doesn't this just give, to anyone, the ability to lock anyone's account that they know the username, but not password, for?
Seems, to me, that this policy just begs for denial-of-service attacks against entire lists of usernames..

Two examples:
1. SalesForce charges a premium to enable encrypted-at-rest for your data. This means the company is charging to protect your data from possibly being compromised by SalesForce's own employees.
2. ZenDesk basic plans allow user passwords to be any five characters. No policy can be applied requiring more digits or types of characters (alpha, case, numbers, punctuation, etc.) unless your organization subscribes to the "Professional" or "Enterprise" level. Zendesk is using the threat of end-users having their accounts compromised to encourage customers to pay extra for the ability to enforce safe password policies.
It seems that some public cloud proprietors intend to mimic real-world ghettos. If customers want the cheapest rent for their cloud service, then thugs and criminals may break in and steal your data. Pay higher rent and you get protection. -

I don't see anything about the other big cause of land-fill Android syndrome: software updates. Are they also going to update the phone to new OS versions for a decade or so?

I went looking, and I saw this rather disappointing post, indicating they were reliant on MediaTek and then the manufacturer (with a link off to HTC's explanation of what's involved with the updating process from a couple years ago).
Now, that was talking about the old version 1, not this release.
I sure hope they've come up with a better solution this time around. Perhaps they should have gone with something like CyanogenMod pre-installed, but that would mean no Gapps which itself would cause them hassles when customers complained.
Regardless, 10 years would be great, but as it stands now, 10 months is often more than manufacturers support, they don't need to offer 10 years.
Isn't Nexus guaranteed only 18 months of updates, and if owners get updates after that, lucky them?

Your issue with Plex seeing files...
Sounds like the same issue I faced.
Basically, you have to name them right or Plex won't see them. Follow the naming convention and directory layout on the Media Preparation page.
I assume this is what you mean by "more hours than I'm prepared to spend". This would be true for music, I can easily imagine. However, I personally would use Foobar2000's metadata/tag and file renaming feature to make this much easier for the music side of things. Here is a video on how to set that up. Shouldn't take more than an hour to rename them all and clean up the ones that don't work (rarely, if ever, happens).
I'm not sure on how to make the movie renaming easier, but I imagine you have far fewer of those and it wouldn't take hours to do.

I'd certainly find it difficult to imagine Kleargear would see an upsurge in orders. Google results for Kleargear are overwhelmingly negative, and they're swiftly picking up poor reviews in WOT and similar site ranking tools.
The 48 business hour delay is odd. In addition to this, their order status site is down.

It's a "knowledge base" containing 0 articles. Just try searching for anything - you'll never find a single result. After a pointless search, the user is then directed to submit a question.
Kleargear appears to be circling the drain, or is some cowboy operation (as evidenced by their fondness of "certified/approved by x" banners. Either way, I wouldn't be expecting to receive goods paid for.

Apple is getting MORE and MORE threats beacuse they are rising in market share. Even if they are better at patching it, they cant keep it down to just a few, its logistically impossible.
