Legodeath - Twisted Lego Constructs
Mooseboy writes "I searched /. and was suprised to find that there were no articles that referenced legodeath.com. This site has several lego mini-dioramas depicting torture, execution, domestic accidents, and other scenes of questionable taste. I've had a chance to see it, so you may commence the slashdotting!"
One of the funniest sites I've ever been to. Must begin project to "mirror" this site on my bookshelf.
That site was so tramatic, I've 'blocked' it out.
yeah yeah..bad I know.
and watch hundreds of lego masterpieces burn and melt as the webserver on the adjacent desk has a small thermonuclear meltdown.
:(
Anyone have a mirror?
I mean, look at them, they're all smiling.
Hmmm... makes you wonder if the creator(s) of the site had some issues as children.
But who cares? It's funny as hell, right up there with http://www.stickdeath.com

Either these guys have too much time on their hands or have childhood memories they've blocked out.
It'd be cooler if they did action movies with the lego characters moving them like clay figures.

Theres no picture of a melted down server entirely out of lego blocks.... pehaps the slashdot effect will give them a new inspiration for they're site!
"Entropy is the bad-guy, and he is everywhere"
that is lego death!
That's strange, when I searched slashdot for it I found it right here.

Have you read my journal today?
Right now it's Serverdeath...
The ENIAC Demo Competition
Loading up the Flash was annoying at first... but once it all loaded, I didn't seem to have to hit the server again. That's a plus in a case like this. I hate to just see an introduction page... and then nothing else because of a slashdotting.
Sex - Find It
Now what would be nice if the designer of these works of art actually sat down with a CAD software for Legos, such as MCLAD, and nicely worked out all the specific designs, and determined the best view-points, then rendered them with POV-Ray...
Maybe it's best most engineers aren't really artists per se...

perhaps it hasnt been on slashdot before because theyre pathetic compared to the other useless but nonetheless amazing lego stuff out there...

Yeah, why can't y'all do something with merit and family values? What we got here is some legos engaging in a lewd, lascivious fandango.

The ENIAC Demo Competition
I've heard of servers literally melting down before although not nearly as much today. But how exactly would something like this happen?
I mean from my experience a cpu can only worky as hard as it was made to. I mean 100% of the cpu would be utilized and it would run a little hot. It doesn't suddenly operate at 130%-200% through dynamic overclocking (as far as i know that doesn't exist) or something of that sort. You would just busy up the server and everything would run really slowly.
Hmmm... Pie...
No...I didn't really say that...go read some other comments or something.

This IS funny. In my opinion. Huh. Maybe I'm not normal... you know, my boss doesn't read slashdot, and HE seems normal. Maybe it's a conspiracy. Dammit, you've got me WORRIED now. I'll just recompile my kernel, or upgrade to Redhat 8.0 or something even though I don't need to... that'll make me feel normal again... hey wait...
Maybe you should start BoringDot.org, which only posts news stories about things that are never funny or weird.
Also, you could check your user preferences, and block out all the categories on Lego, Humor, etc.
Mod down posts with a "Free Mac Mini/iPod" sig, they're spam!
Anyone who enjoys death, psychotic violent imagery, or gore has serious mental issues. Wether it be with legos, video games, or pictures.
It is likely the people who created this are using it as a cry for help, and I pray they do not manifest their violent thoughts in ways other than lego. Hopefully they will seek the professional help they need.

The first girl I loved raped me.
It's a pity that (apparently) sincere opinion in the parent is labeled a "troll." Did the modder notice that the story's author was actually soliciting opinion??? Or merely object to the parent's fairly mainstream opinion? (Not that minority viewpoints, if sincere and explained, should be censored.) I mean, what sort of reaction are we to infer is correct -- "Uhhh, good use of the new #6781 black Legos, but I think the site's HTML is kind of weak."?
/. modders who don't like "liberal" complaints?
Maybe the poster's silly, maybe I don't even agree. But if the Lego work is free speech (yes), let be the critique. There is a lot of criticism on here of suppression of free speech by governments (China/filtering, U.S./DMCA), corporations (Microsoft), and individuals. Why so little of intolerant
Save your mod points for +mods. M2 this waste of time "unfair." [/rant] Ah, that helped.
Some people are so bad at using computers, that when they read /. with moderation points using Newest First to sort comment threads, they don't realise that a comment they see farther down the page that's similar to one they've modded up earlier in the page was in fact posted earlier than the one they modded up. To cover up their ignorance, they mod the earlier posts as redundant.
/.
Here's one such example. I was the first to bring up that LANL was using the cutesy Shuttle cases, so I brought it up early in a blantant karma whoring attempt. It back fired due to moderator error of modding me redundant, when in fact, I was first. Oh well. Anyone who sucks so bad in life as to actually have mod points gets my pity. They probably couldn't speak their mind if their life depended on it. At least I get paid to surf

Harsh way of putting it, for sure, but you get the point. These things that happen to the US are horrible, horrible tragedies, yes, but i didn't see anyone in the United States skip a beat when the above things happened to other people. Many Americans have this kind of superiority complex, where they think they are the centre of the Universe, and that everybody else in the world should feel sorry for them whenever they are "picked on".
LDraw format is vastly more standard.
And yes, i agree with you; the WTC jokes are really tasteless, and totally unnecessary. Despite the fact that it's kind of been blown out of proportion by the media/government, it was still a horrible act of violence, and people (especially families of the victims) don't need to see that.
but it didn't make it. i guess my description wasn't as appealing?
Apparently a while back an artist, with the unknowing assistance of the LEGO Company itself, created a mock series of LEGO Holocaust sets. The story is quite interesting, and the sets are easily the most disturbing LEGO creations I've ever seen...

Yes, that's why I continue to read slashdot; I don't get enough questionable taste in life, particularly where it deals with plastic toys.
Ok, I'm all for plastic toys, but I'd really prefer if people kept the questionable taste to themselves. Not all geeks are actually _demented_ you know.

I don't think this is so scary or funny at all. There's only one picture and it looks like a blue puzzle piece, not a lego block.

Could you explain to me how you so conveniently leave out communist and other totalitarian atrocities, which are in much greater numbers? Not to mention the fact that some of the casualties you do list are questionable as being labeled genocide. The only reason I can see for this perversly skewed selection is that you hate democracy and the western world and want anything else to take its place. If you had listed a more balanced tally, it would have been interesting.
As it stands now it is just an attempt to induce emotional responses in people in line with some anti lberal, anti democrat sentiment, in the hope that the slashdot readership will only look at your info. Maybe it worked with poor peasants in North Korea who did not have the freedom of information to find out these things for themselves, but thankfully we can all get ourselves a more balanced view of the world than from the obvious troll that is the parent of this post.
It's pretty sickening to see somebody use other peoples death and suffering as an excuse for peddling the death camp of totalitarianism, which is by omission and obvious bias, what your post does.
I live in the United States, and i by no means hate the Western world, nor do i support socialism. I just think that the US has lost touch with who they are and what they stand for, and the fact that there are indeed other people living in this world.
>Israel (Palestinian Genocide): 100 000 Dead
What a load of horseshit. I'd love to see your sources (and no, The Guardian and The Independent don't fucking cut it). Yeah, the Israelis have made their share of costly mistakes, but this is plain ridiculous. What, they killed more Palestinians than the atomic bomb? Riiight. And WTF is up with the Vietnam - takeover failure business? What, it was all about oil or something? I guess everybody was _so_ much better off under Communist rule. Or perhaps you learned your history from Noam Chomsky (only).
And you didn't see anyone in the US skip a beat did you? I mean, you _have_ heard about this thing we like to call 'the left', right? The Americans may be self-centered or arrogant, but I'm not sure how that excuses the sort of despicable statements you're making.
I don't mind getting modded down for this (which I know I will be), I just wish people would address the actual points I made (I can just see the European responses now: "Points you made? You, sir, are an idiot. Americans/Jews must die"). And once again, Arab News articles and other racist state propaganda are _not_ acceptable sources.
And don't even get me started on the Americans being the 'real' racists; whoever sincerely believes that obviously hasn't travelled very widely. I mean fuck, am I the only one who gives a shit about womens rights? Or how about human rights? Does no one else reaise 'human rights violations' doesn't mean 'human rights violations commited by Israelis"? No wonder the Americans are running the world -- everybody else's brain seems to have turned to mush all of a sudden.

The careful (well, actually careless) selection of data in the quote is just by-the-book standard "revolutionary" argumentation, hence the response.

to my mind is: The Brick Testament. The Bible in Lego. As anyone who's really read the Bible knows there's some disturbing stuff in there. Seeing some of that material in Lego makes it even more troublesome.

Could you explain to me how you so conveniently leave out communist and other totalitarian atrocities, which are in much greater numbers?
Because they don't feel they have the right to have the world bow to them after someone sets them up the bomb (plane, whatever).
Now, back to the discussion about Legos. Freakin' Legos, for God's sake. Someone needs to take themselves/the world/damn legos so seriously.

And for the record, i'm neither a liberal nor a conservative, i fall somewhere inbetween. I'm the first person to insult either side, and while i'm not a politician, and i don't play one on television, i think some of the things that the United States (and other countries, of course, but my post was in reply to a person who appears (from my perspective) to be one of the "oh no the United States is getting picked on, let's all change our way of life" people", so i'm keeping to the topic of the US) do are just plain against common sence. (Yeah, that was a big parenthetical explanation, sorry, but i don't want people to get the wrong idea about me again. :/ )
So anyway, i'm sorry if those numbers offended people; i used them strictly for making a point that the world is a bigger place than the United States. Insert any other numbers in there if you want, the places/events/exact numbers/etc., don't matter.
Your list is just as biased as the other. Stalinism and Nazism are essentially dead movements. So is WWI-style imperialist/monarchist conflict. (except for what the US does in my opinion) The US supported Iraq during the Iran-Iraq war and ignored Saddam's killing of his own people when it happened, and the US gave Saddam Hussein his chemical weapons. The US has supported many groups that kill many innocents.
If you can't assume what people are thinking, what can you do?
When /. warned you thats it was a flash site.
Ahh the good days, when we bashed flash like the evil whore it is...
Wow, I should not post when knackered.
That's funny. Can you explain why the US spent billions rebuilding several of those countries?
Now explain who came to *their* aid after 9/11.

All it tells me is that you're afraid of your mortality.
While you're busy protesting the psuedo and taboo colors of civilization's acceptable behavior for dealing with life's quasi-random trajedies, others are colaborating to wipe out your entire city, and still others accept the very thing you protest: death.
It's 10:00 pm, are you sure the doors are locked and double-bolted shut?

Why it's simple: BUY A FLAG, CONFUSE YOURSELF WITH RELIGIOUS POPPY-COCK, AND USE SEPTEMBER 11TH AS A SCAPE GOAT TO ALL OF YOUR LIFES PROBLEMS!
I like the part where the entire country "wept" for the 3500 people that died. Sorry, I didn't happen to know any of them. Yay firemen. What do you mean I can't have a knife to cut my airline meal with?
Again: they won.
on a side note, i found this picture to be extremely funny. hah.

Jeez. I thought /. was populated by intelligent people...
Heh. Same to you. As "intelligent" as you may be, you may have overlooked the fact that these people have been attacking us for many years.
They don't hate our foreign policies. You don't announce Jihad *cough*religious war*cough* on a country due to foreign policies.
Why is it so hard for people to believe that they hate us.. regaurdless of why. Lemmie guess, you're one of those people who would suggest that things would be better if we just listened to them right? Maybe they just need a shoulder to cry on.. heh.
Here's a bit of logic for you: America is a world power. By that sense we have almost elected ourselves to be the big brother for all the arguing and bickering siblings of the world. When a country asks for our help, assessments take place and whatever percentage of the time we side with X, and successfully get Y to hate us, almost indefinately.
How is it the fault of America, a free country, that communist countries wish to rule the world and will stop at nothing aside from a nuclear explosion in order to achieve that goal? And accordingly, how is it the fault of America that the Taliban have the same approach to religion that the Nazi's had to the human race? The Taliban want nothing more than to cleans the planet.
If you think otherwise, go ask one yourself. Quit wasting my money to protect these fucking psycho's, just shoot them and let the civilians figure out who to invest their lives in next.

on the seventh day, man returned the favor.
Genocide, for the sake of arguement, is the total annihilation of a race. There, by no means, has been any total annihilations of any races. Human beings were manufactured to include and excercise power over others. When you prove your obviously superior strength, you keep those who are still standing as your underlings to make up for the fight that you should never have been involved with in the first place.
The problem is that society wont let us kill off all those people who disserve to be skull fscked. I personally wouldn't have a problem with taking out an individual, a group, a city, a country, or a faction that has a prioritized goal of putting my life at risk because of whatever beef they have with someone other than myself.
on the sixth day God created man.

in the name of... good god- i'll never look at a lego-man the same way again
We started it. We went over to the middle east, messed around with their politics, financed wars and revolutions for our own gain. They didn't just pick the US out of a hat when deciding who to hate.
Last time I checked the Soviet Union was at one point trying to take over that very same area. Regaurdless of history, their decision to declair a religious based war on America doesn't run parallel to any reasons you've provided as to why it was America and no other.
Very admirable, however most of the actions of "big brother" seem to bring about change that is helpful to ourselfs. Name a war/conflict we have taken part in that doesn't satisfy our own gains, finacial, political or idological. There are only a few. The rest are a little bit suspect, to say the least.
I would agree. I don't know how else you would view defending your own values as anything but a gain. WWII we didn't get involved, we were attacked. Korea was the UN, not America. Most of our responsabilities as I mentioned above are only implied. Our strength means we are the first ones called upon when another country needs our assistence; and yes, business plays a VERY big role. Not getting involved in a war that might cost you a resource you have come to rely on for basic survival is not only a bad decision but down-right stupid. If a group of X is one-by-one getting people evicted from their homes in your neighborhood and replacing them with likes of the same kind, but you choose not to get involved because it isn't obvious yet that your turn will come, then you disserve to be evicted. Yet you would choose, hopefully, to get involved and prevent any further damage from taking place. Even if that means having group X hate you and from that point on commit autrocious acts against you.
Any countries involvement in -any- war is for gain, if not the prevention of a major loss. Period.
Conversly, how is it the fault of the USSR, another country, that capitalist countries wish to rule the world and will stop at nothing aside from a nuclear explosion in order to achieve that goal? Not so much different is it? Just because we have more freedom, it doesn't mean we have any justification to force our ways on other people.
How the fuck can you make that comparison?! You give me a creditable example of a capitalist country that was forcefully OCCUPYING another country with the *intent* of completely converting and altering that countries way of life. The USSR is WELL aware of their faults but it is THEIR fault the rulers had too much pride in *que accent* THE GREAT MOTHER RUSSIA! On another note, I never complained about any one of the politically defined economic structures.
I apologize man, but that was just about one of the most ignorant things I've ever heard.
But, their beliefs are their beliefs. We are supposed to respect that. OK, women have zero rights and that sucks, but there are plenty of other countries that have similar problems that seem to be ignored. The human rights issues in Afganistan were only used for propaganda, much like the UK govenment is trying to do the same [bbc.co.uk] in Iraq. You don't hear people complain about the treatment of women in Saudi, or the punishments handed out to people. Rest assured, should our leaders ever want to go to war with them, you'll find there are a lot of nasty things can be shown about any country.
Again with the ignorance. *sigh* What's your issue with confusing completely seperate entities of propaganda? Especially in America.. The Government has far too much to deal with than to worry about such petty things. The media is the fuel for citizen fires, not the government. Has it not occured to you that these dispicable forms of manipulation never occur until after the war starts? If it were the Governments wish to create such hysteria they would do it well before they declared war so that people wouldn't disagree with their decision to declare war. And if you said "our leaders" in reference to the Channel 2 news anchors, then you have been forgiven. Also, I'd like to remind you they've been attacking Americans and our embassies well before 1998.
Tip: Go take a class on psychology. No, take several.
