I agree I mean why should rockstar, who self parodies realities on their radio and in their missions. And pretty much whole of the game actually has to have troubles with something that parodies merily a minor part out of the what they self do.
I mean listen to the radio in GTA games..it is not only cracking but in ways it is horribly accurate of the feelings of the time the game plays in!
You should listen to GTA: Vice City Stories radio. Oh belief me, more then ample overblown badly radio and references to things...not so legal or desirable! Just makes you smile!
Lets not forget ONE external hd on itself might mere doe 80Mbyte per second..still it is better then he 20Mb most CRAPPY USB-IDE controllers can handle. They definitly can improve on that part! USB definitly is not the final limit for the external hd, it is the low quality crappy controller inbuild in most boxes!
Well Microsoft did sell the thing on it doing things better, bigger and more beautiful right. With the hardcore ability to play against others for hours in ranked competitions and oh yes you have a gamer score card.
That isn't what most casual gamers attract in the end though. Sure the bigger, better and more beautiful is always welcome. But a casual gamer might not have the time for 3-4 hours long game runs. And that is not long if you are a hardcore gamer, those can easily take a whole day trying to beat a few more levels to get all the extra secrets! Like Tekken in what you had to be really really a grinder to get used to the different combo's. Where after 80 hours of play you finally could beat every other character with your choice character. To start all over again with another character! That is hardcore..right
That is fine if you are a child, if you don't have to study, or if you don't have a job and children. Once you got them you can sell your stuff! The few "leisure" games like oblivion, viva pinata and I am sure a few other ones that you can pick up for an hour or two hours. There are not to many of those on the XBLA or the Xbox platform. And the few kiddy games..hell you earlier see a child fire up a PS2 to play them because they look all the same anyway!
Now the other side, the media reciever, well sadly it is "bundled" to be wired up to Windows Mediaserver Edition. Let not every house has that lying around! DVDs'? We already got a dvd-player, HD-DVD's? Dont expect them to fork out $200,- for a HD-DVD to hook up to the Xbox360 if they also can buy a stand alone HD-DVD player!
No the Xbox360 is still way to wired up to the hardcore gamers, even the "elite" doesn't helps that much!
Well obviously this has hit quite a few fans. Some though did take the damage and are now selling "off line versions" of the xbox 360 second hand. As long as they say that you cant play on line with it! It can be a good deal!
Some seem to think that they can play foul with the EEPROM to change the serial. Except..few know where the serial is hidden on an xbox360. And some are waiting for the mod scene to find a solution.
So that is what has become of it..
My point here is that though with the original xbox you really added allot of extra functions that made it a much sweeter box. And even though many lost their on line access through bans then they kept their own ones as media machines.
So what do the firmware and other mods for the xbox360 really bring in? Oh you can play "backup games"! Mmmm except that backup games is by far not the right wording. Illegal copy is more a right word.
The USA after all got DMCA right, that prohibits the cracking of security, how inept in design it might be to get to the content. And guess what on the disc stands "make no unauthorized copies"
The unmodded xbox 360 already is a media monster by using the legal tools available for it. So the mods really only allow people to use Verbatim coasters as "play discs". And the first game hacks already been shown with Gears of War!
Remember nobody pays either Microsoft or the developers of the games for the copied disc! Making a high quality game takes lots of cash and lots of time! And yes games are expensive but unlike food or clean water, you don't need games to life. If you are to poor well to bad you are to poor to buy them! Buying copies only kills the few good game studios that are left:!
And the "but fair use". Sorry DMCA killed Fair use! Complain to your local politician if you want that changed!
The "This will cost Microsoft allot of money" issue also is a joke! Really would anybody cry when cheap freeloaders that doesn't give the game studios their due cant use 30% of what makes the xbox360 a good console. It isn't as if you did pay money to the developers.
All in all a good clean sweep to show the real appreciation to those that try to make good value possible, sure games can be expensive but a game you bought in full is more satisfying then one you got on a verbatim DVD from your "nephew". It isn't as if you had any time to begin with to play out all the 99 games you "own"
Nothing like a cleansing storm to take away the dust and troubles isn't it? I wish all those that stayed on the legal side allot of fun with Crackdown and Halo 3 Beta! You are lucky!
Well maybe Darl's family isn't out of the scoop here. The court can judge that damages are taken from the laywers to if the ligation was without merit. It doesn't happens much but see it as the neighbour that always complains. If the neighbour for the fourth time starts a lawsuit against you ungrounded the law can simply request damages from HIM for the damage he done to you!
In a case like this with Sco lying and cheating and trying to inject steriods into a dying case..well I think this is the type of case where the Laywers will have to pay Damages to the winning parties for Pursueing a lost case without Merit!
We could know that couldn't we? When Intel..known of its integrated CRUD on most cheap motherboards and notebooks! Came with their Dx9 videochip, weak...very weak but it was just made to be able to run Windows Vista!
I guess I am a strange case, as in I usually have small "bits" of vacation say.. a long week here and there! That is just how things seem to end up being. And I easily can be without "mental digital imput" for a week...it is really vacation for me then. To read a book, see sheep eat..do things the manual way;)
I might be a bit computer crazy and..savy myself but it is not like without it I am totally lost. I just do other things!
Well the xbox360 is by now quite the year out. And since over four years atleast a new console needs to be there... they better prepare things already:)
Who knows what the future brings in chips and alike..it will take atleast 2-3 years for them to put their focus and plans right to begin with. And developing and ensuring games are out is another big part of it all..so yes better start early then late!
You are right, and it will have a pre-requirment of a TPM motherboard and HDMI audio interface because you never know who might steal the song you can't hear. I mean we that buy music are so unfair to the business, we must accept to pay reasonable prices for limited and low quality audio indeed. Because we are cows aren't we?
Perfect, I missed en email client and yes I missed an calender. Now I have to say that Thunderbird is pretty grown up for an email client, somewhere between outlook express and outlook itself. The Calender though, when I tested it, it surely was still not really that ready. It might need a bit of work to make the perfect calender tool.
Still I applaud it as this will give the office suite so much more completion!
Of course this is all due to our mono-core solutions hitting the "roof" that we can reach withour technology. As the old P4 articles already say..how smaller the production process how more the processor "leaks" energy. And how hotter it becomes..atleast in the silicon and strained silicon variants...
So to get more power after hitting such a roof your best bet becomes to improve things. Like we have seen with AMD K8..a processor with performance! Finally we moved over to Performance instead of speed ( like we moved from old 8liter engine cars to 2liter cars with just the same horse power in about 60 years ). And to get more speed adding more cores..was just around the corner!
Multi core is here to stay just because..Single cores are not going to cut it anymore..
1333Mhz to connect 2x2 cores. I guess I have to agree, how fast will you hit the memory bandwidth limitations...
I have more faith in an HTT based solution that hooks up a quad core AMD processor then an FSB limited method. And yes I know even HTT has it's limits..sure..it still won't hit those limits at fast as Intels FSB. Lets hope that Intel gets working on something alike HTT..or just license to use HTT. It would give their CPU's a direct speed up..by providing more then enough bandwidth!
We have a dutch spoof on the local cable compagny "Casema" called.. "Gasema" that indeed.. does internet over gass.
A few highlights for those not speaking dutch!
- It works the best with a fourpitter ( that is four gas pits..to cook on )
- Bandwidth depends on how many are cooking at the moment
- It offers cheap global internet connections by a small gas chamber for camping cookers..yes again high speeds! Untill you are out of gass!..and this spoof is already..7 years old..
Internet through gass is one huge spoof.. it just isn't possible..what "medium" must the data use?
I agree I mean why should rockstar, who self parodies realities on their radio and in their missions. And pretty much whole of the game actually has to have troubles with something that parodies merily a minor part out of the what they self do.
