Poverty, crime, and corruption are major problems over there and they are wasting money on a space program? I know if I was running the country and people were trying to leave for the US en masse I would probably focus my attention on domestic issues instead of launching a space program which would be decades behind the most established programs in the US and Russia.

After reading some comments on here, it seems that some of you put facebook in the same category as myspace. Facebook is much better than Myspace and here is why.
1. All facebook profiles are uniform. They are the same color and can only have one profile picture. This makes everything so much easier on the eyes. The pages load quicker and relevant information is easy to acquire. There aren't a million pictures, animated gifs, songs, videos all over the page.
2. The majority of ads are text. Most of the ads are google type text ads, and only 1 or 2 ads are shown at a time. And here's the best part: The ads are usually bought by a student or local business. So instead of seeing huge flash ads for some shitty movie or band, you see relevant ads about a local bar special or someone who has a sub-lease available in their apartment.
3. You have to be in College (or now high school) to join. Facebook requires you to have a college e-mail adddress to join. While I'm not saying every college student is perfect and a big winner in society, you have to face the fact that most people that are on myspace are huge losers. I'm talking about all of the people who work the dead-end minimum wage jobs, do drugs every night, just take webcam pictures of themselves, and are going nowhere in life. There is none of that on facebook.
4. Information is not readily available to anyone who wants it. To view someone's profile you have to go to the same school as them. If you don't go to the same school you can still see that they have a profile, but you have to be added as their friend before you can actually see the profile. This greatly cuts down on all of the stalkers out there.
5. Facebook is a legitmate communication tool. Many professors have embraced the technology and joined facebook. Even my college president (at the u of Iowa) is on it. I know many friends who now send messages to others on facebook instead of e-mail, citing the fact that most students will check their facebook messages more often than their e-mail. Myspace can't be used for communication except for saying things like "thanx 4 the add", "check out my new webcam pix", "damn baby u r so hot"
There are probably even more comparisons I could make but I'm running late for class. Facebook hasn't been around quite as long as myspace, so I'm sure it doesn't have as many subscribers. I'm bettting though as years go and more people go to college the site will become much bigger than myspace. It's just so much cleaner and easier to use.
I think selling facebook would be a huge mistake. The way it stands now, the site is run by a couple of students (or former students, they may have graduated) They've added many features, but have done it subtly. It seems like every time more functionality is added on myspace it just makes the profiles that much uglier. When it happens on facebook, it makes it that much more usable. I'm only afraid that if the wrong company buys the site, they will try to compete with myspace and try to turn facebook into another myspace. Sorry for the rant, but I hope that this post will enlighten some of the people who have just read about these sites but haven't actually been able to join the facebook.
I'm not a programmer by any means, and I hardly know anything about html, which is why i'm asking this question I guess. Why is it so hard to make a browser that is compliant to standards? And is there an advantage to making a browser that doesn't comply? I've always wondered this.
I don't understand why they will ban Allah and not Jesus? I'm sure I will get modded down to troll for this, but I'm just stating the facts. Is Jesus not banned because most Christians are peaceful and turn the other cheek when their religion is offended? Allah is the same as God in the Christian world so why would they allow God but ban the muslim name Allah. Muslims always seem to get treated differently due to threats of violence.

I like how when you roll your cursor over the word "gaming mouse" one of those annoying advertisments pop-up. The funny thing is that the adverstisment is for a logitech gaming mouse.
That argument seems pretty silly. For one most people have a high speed connection, downloading the spam hardly takes any time. Identifying the spam is extrmely simple. You should be able to just look at the message subject and delete the message without opening it. Not to mention most of the e-mail you check is probably at work, which means it's costing your employer time not you. And ultimately if you are recieving so much spam, stop signing up for so much stuff. I have a hotmail account that I use for registrations and such. I can check it when I need to respond to a confirmation e-mail, but otherwise all of my other e-mails go to my main address.
a multi-billion fine just seems a little bit over the top, I don't care what the law says. If I was the ISP I would have sused for a few million, something that would be halfway realistic.
These guys are awesome and I try to watch the show whenever I see it on. One show that always bothered me though was about the myth that you can fool the breathalyzer machine buy using pennys and mouth wash etc. The real myth is based on the PBTs (personal breath testers) used by the police out in the field. Those can be fooled relatively easily while the big machines in the jail work pretty well.
"The Poster" posted a link to the register, which is a pretty reliable media outlet. If you want authenticity then e-mail them. It's not like the poster just posted the story, he posted a link to the story. As far as I'm concerned, he doesn't have anything to prove.
I like how all of the quotes in the article have a sense of a pre-rehearsed, pro-product wording. It's almost like everything that was said was approved through some corporate pr doctor. I'm afraid this is going to be one of those bills that no one wants to vote against. No senator wants a commercial during election time saying he or she voted for pornography. And one last thing, this doesn't suprise me that this whole concept was born in Utah. Thats fine if they want to keep their ultra-conservative, weird-rligion beliefs in their own state, but they shouldn't try to impose it on the whole country.
To me it just seems ridiculous to launch a product where there will be mass shortages. Why not just wait until December when you can ship more? It's sad that a consumer can't purchase a unit because half of the people in line are buying them to sell on ebay.
Its the trucking companies and the owners doing this, not the truckers. Half of the truckers I've ever met are hillbillies that probably don't even know what hydrogen is

Sure this is inconvenient if you don't run windows, but there are still other ways to file yuor taxes. This is no different than getting pissed off if you are a truck driver and a parking lot at a business will only hold cars. Besides, you should be thankful you get to even file taxes for free online in Australia. In the US, you have to pay to efile most of the time.
When will people realize that this is a cartoon and you can't compare it to reality. I don't care what kind of armor you have. You would have to have unhuman strength to take on lots of guys with guns.
This is no different that cloning. Let's say you make a clone of yourself. Sure the clone will be identical as you, but if you die and it lives, you are still dead. I'd say the only way to avoid death is to find a way to implant your brain into another body.

Now the USA might not be perfect, and I do hate Bush and the Patriot Act, but I think that comment at the end wasn't called for. Canada has never suffered a major terrorist attack and that is the reason for them not having anything similar to the patriot act. I'd rather live in the United States under the Patriot Act than move to that shitty country Canada any day!
