For the record, I deleted the comics from my hard drive and fully intend to buy a hard copy. This had been done before I even made my post. I'm also one of the people that only supports musicians that come to my town (or close enough) and perform for their money, often buying CD's that I've already downloaded along with a T-shirt.
I resent being preached to, but seeing as how we share a common set of morals, I'll let it slide.
When the hype started for this movie, I downloaded all of the comics and read them in two sittings. That's how good it is. Unlike many, I was reserving judgement until I had actually seen the movie.
The Moon ejected the Earth.
The Moon was originally a huge asteroid hell-bent on the destruction of Earth that changed it's mind.
The Moon is an accumulation of helium balloons loosed from the Earth and bleached by the Sun.
It's genius! Some people will get pissed off and cancel, and some will cough up the dough and continue playing. This way, SOE uses fewer resources and (maybe) turns even more of a profit.
Later on, they will start consolidating servers (through the guise of Free Character Transfers, and later forcibly).
Then, they'll release Everquest 3 and hopefully draw even more of the population off of EQ1&2.
I'm actually not being sarcastic here. I think it's a pretty clever way to ramp down an aging and/or failed MMORPG.
(and yes, I really wanted to make a Profit??? joke...you're welcome)
Imagine you're the exec of a business and all of your employees are getting emails from customers complaining about how bad your service is. Do you cancel the service of everyone that complained, or do you "fix the problem?"
I think this discussion is hinging too much on the words, "Spam" and "unsolicited" when they should be on "relevant" and "complaint."
At the very least, she is a proactive but misguided student that is interested in the goings-on at her school. She should be given guidance and encouragement, not martyred for speaking out.
I want to know what kind of mp3 player Obama uses. I also would like to know why he chose the Zune in this instance.
This isn't Paris Hilton. I actually give a shit about the personal life of our president-to-be. Any insight into what kind of "person" he is that could be extrapolated to what kind of president he'll be...is interesting.
One of the reasons I didn't vote for McCain was because he demonstrated that he didn't know jack-shit about computers. The subject of Net-Neutrality is looming on the horizon (and frequently discussed here) and I want my president to have an interest. Obama's Facebook and MySpace campaigns impressed me. I hardly think this story is irrelevant.
I mean, 400+ people commented on the story. Even discounting the whiners, it obviously sparked discussion which is why I come to Slashdot.
10g1c?
...Bang!
Georgia enters child support negotiations.
...court is held in contempt of you!
36.5 exabytes should be more than enough for anybody.
Data storage is something we've gotten very good at and we've made it very cheap. A Petabyte a day is not as staggering as it was even five years ago.
I was reading through the summary quickly and almost had a panic attack at the deluge of questions at the end. We get the point already!

This is the best recession, ever!

It's obviously been magnified... Oh and it appears it's replicating! How cute!
Here it is --> .
(couldn't help myself)
That brilliant derision has earned you a permanent +1 my friend.
It was like watching a beautiful butterfly emerging from it's chrysalis sporting biting insults for wings and common sense for feelers.
I bet they still got paid for their efforts, which is probably enough for them.
More like, "How much revenue are your intrusive ads creating when your story gets published on Slashdot?" Amirite?
wow. I can only imagine the look of abject disappointment when my gf realizes "this" is the fancy restaurant I'm taking her to.
If I'm understanding it right. Unfortunately I can't even come up with a car analogy to describe what I think they're doing.
He was quoting a lyric from a popular song "Handlebars" by the FloBots. I don't think he really meant it :)

It was ejected from a spinning mass?
Yet another research project that needs fine ants.
Yeah, how could a hole be heavy? Shenanigans are afoot!
