So if we sent a ship 2 million light years to andromeda, it will take to million years, but those on the ship wont notice the difference. This prevents evolution and extinction of the human race, while allowing it to essentially spread to all the galaxies of the universe, even if life on earth goes extinct.
Apparantly the FTC has hired AT&T to run the call center that takes all the national do not call list phone calls. Talk about the fox gaurding the henhouse, are they going to ask if i want to swtich from MCI when I call to ask my number be removed from the list? (Hint: the answer is no, I dont want to switch)

If something like "its a wondeful life" goes into the public domain, and then 20 years later beecomes a big moneymaker again, can anyone pay $1 and put it back under copyright? Can the original owners do so? Can somone hijack a copyright once its up for renewal? Its only good if once something goes into the public domain it does so in perpetuity, and can never be returned to copyright.

No, theyre just realizing that its cheaper to lobby congress over a 6 month period for a change in the laws than it is to pay lawyers fees for 24-36 months to fight it in the courts. Lawyers are more expensive than congresspersons.

Funny, most scouts I knew were geeks and nerds like myself, and were agnostic or athiest. Whatever they were indoctrinating us with, the belief in god part didnt stick (although alot of other stuff did, like a love for the outdoors, respect for other people, etc) As for accepting public money, did you notice that that money has "in god we trust" written all over it? Get rid of that first, then we can start worrying about the boy scouts. Theyre nondenominational, accept nearly all religions. As long as you arent going "hail satan" at every meeting, even the verboten religions they dont really care about. As far as i know, the boy sccouts are a nonprofit, not a religion. They are a religious based nonprofit, but im sure that there are plenty of religion based nonprofits that get money from the public. Christian childrens fund comes to mind immediately. Hereis a list of the religious emblems that can be earned in scouting, note all the major religions, catholicism, branches of christianity, bhuddism, hinduism, islam and judaeism are all represented, and even several obscure ones like zoroastrian are included.
OK, ill bite. Why are the Boy Scouts Corrupt and disgusting? Because they wont let in gays? because they wont let in girls? When I was younger, it was almost assumed that if you were in the scouts you were gay, i mean running around in uniforms and sewing on patches? Thats gay to a 6th grader. I may not support the scouts stands on these issues, but I certainly can understand why they woud do it, and as the supreme court says, its their right to let in whomever they please. Regardless of those issues, I have never seen any corruption within the scouts, you dont bribe people for badges, no leaders i know embezzle funds, there is no Boy scouts accounting scandal etc etc. And the scouts give hundreds of thousands of boys direction they otherwise would not be getting. Many studies have shown that having a strong father figure in ones life helps a boy grow into a well adjusted man later in life. Yes the scouts are not perfect, but they do alot of good.
The main reason that I'll be waiting for is the ability to be able to put together a pretty good system for $600.
And Ill wait to buy a Ferrari when they have one thats less than $20,000. Apple doesnt go for the low end because it doesnt have to, and it couldnt gaurentee the quality its got if it did. You get what you pay for.
For those of you in the Washington DC metropolitan area, you can get liquid nitrogen ice cream at the University of Maryland. Every year the university celebrates Maryland Day, which is basically an excuse for the university to show itself off to alumni and the general public. At any rate, out in front of the physics building they always have a bunch of cool geeky experiments (crushing a soda can with magnets, firing a pencil through a two by four , superconducting levitation etc) Including making ice cream out of liquid nitrogen. They basically give you a foam cup, pour some vanilla flavored cream in, give you a spoon, and tell you to stir real fast as they pour in the LN2. Tastes pretty good, but its really hard ice cream.
Thats just what microsoft loves, they start a meme that "shared source=open source" BSA, MPAA, RIAA etc starts a meme that "sharing =piracy" How many people out there do you think now think that open source means youre a bunch of software pirates, and that linus is the leader of them? Theres no such thing as the "shared software" movement, its the open source software movement. Shared software could be anything from linux to the latest commercial isos you get from kazaa
