If you don't want that C600 anymore, I'll take it off your hands for you. I'll even pay shipping.

You know, if you locked your son in an 8x8' underground bunker, I bet he'd be safe from terrorists.

Even making the giant leap to direct inverse correlation between the two, where do you draw the line between freedom and safety?

Sorry, I don't have the time to read your very long post. But I liked your first 3 paragraphs, so I'll mod you up.

You have to think in the positive about this. This is great for us geeks. It gives us one more thing to do with the system. Asthetic modding (including repainting the name to Revolution) will be all the rage!

Eventually the artists will just have to get together and make an Anti-DRM Save the Music album. Unfortunately, it will be copy protected.

I really wish I had mod points to mod you up. This is pure FUD spreading, using lies. As much as I dislike the current administration, spreading easily disabled straw-man bullet points is not the way to undo the damage.

I would've never heard of Joan Miro if it hadn't been for Google changing their logo.

On the other hand, as I missed the logo change, I would never have heard about Joan Miro if not for the lawsuit. Food for thought.

"The music industry is broadly unhappy with the fixed pricing and lack of subscription options..."

    and

I don't hear too many people (myself included) in the mainstream complaining about the options

See, this is the problem. There is a skew in the Annoyance Factor. In a truly capitalistic society, we must strike a balance. The annoyance must be equal on both sides for everyone to be happy (or... unhappy). This "sweet spot," if you willl, is called The Grumpy Point. Once the grumpy levels out, equilibrium can be restored.

Since most people don't know that shit like this happens on a regular basis, once it starts getting reported regularly, the news media is going to pick up and run with it.

Don't worry, after a couple months it will become such a beaten dead horse, everyone will think "Oh, this stuff happens all the time. My chances of having my identity stolen are next to nil." And the notice gets tossed in the trash never to be worried about again.
