  1. Digging their own grave on AI Bots Pick The Hits of Tomorrow · · Score: 1

I think they're digging their own grave. There is progressively less magical wonders and more blatantly formulaic crap out there.

I can feel a new revolution coming within not too many years. After all - they had the same stranglehold over the music industry in the 80s (and especially the late 80s - how many great records were released in the late 80s?). Then grunge and alternative rock detonated and created quite a bit of upheaval in the business.

You can even go back to the mid-70s. The coked up soft rock they're trying to make cool again got a fist up its ass by punk rock. And the early 60s - demented harmonies by well-groomed stylish young men - and then there was a revolution when the Rolling Stones and the Beatles made girls scream and guys wear their hair longer.

The current dull music scene is the end of a cycle. The revolution will come. Again.

The Maldives is a special case. However, all you'd have to do there, would be to get out onto the deep ocean.

Anyhow - a normal relatively healthy human being can move somthing like 6 kilometers/hour on a sustained level for hours, and more like 10 if they really have to. Thus - even if you don't have enough vehicles for everyone, then half an hour or even 15 minutes of early warning would allow a substantial number of people to escape physical harm.

  5. OK, OK on Huge Parachute Saves Crashing Planes · · Score: 1

Let's add a few more valid reasons for deploying the chute:

Engine failure and you cannot find a good enough place for an emergency landing
    Medical emergency

and in the unlikely event that they can fit it onto a commercial airline - hijacking. Had those airplanes on 911 been fitted with some kind of emergency brake like this, the hijackers would have been limited to attempting to slaughter the people on board after the pilots had pulled that lever. Something to consider?

(I am not a licensed pilot, by the way)

  6. Awesome on Huge Parachute Saves Crashing Planes · · Score: 4, Informative

If I wanted to blow up New York City using a nuclear device, it would be by far easiest to load it into a container onto a container ship, offload it onto a speedboat off-coast (probably drop it off and have the speedboat pick it up so that the security people can't see what happened on the radar) and have a suicide bomber set it off inside New York harbor. Of course, you'd need a collusive captain on the ship.

However, answer me this: If you had an atomic bomb, wouldn't you agree that this is an easier and cheaper way to destroy New York City than to aquire, arming and sending off an ICBM?

Wow. I actually counted ballots in the 94 referendum on EU here in Norway. Here's how it works:

You have a bunch of people from both sides of the issue (or all parties) around a table and count ballots. You also have other people double-counting the ballots. This multi-partisan crowd also witnesses the reporting of the result from that polling station.

So - there you have it. Implement this at all levels, and you'll be unable to implement your bias.

Of course, if you have electronic voting machines without a paper receit, then you'll be unable to put these checks and balances in place.

Morons like you are a threat to democracy. Basically, because you yourself have the inability to figure out a system that has integrity, you rule it an impossibility. Listen up - there exists people who are smarter than you, and there are routinely held indisputed elections with a high level of integrity elsewhere in the world - in Europe, in Asia, in Africa and probably elsewhere as well..
