    True, I should have made my point better.
    There are many OS's involved in the windowsupdate chain.
    I read somewhere Akamia uses quite a variety including BSDs, Linux etc. Who knows what MS actually uses.
    So compromising windows update might be achieved without cracking a Windows box.

    Windows Update is served by Akamai ie Linux.
    Now what was your point ?

    I like their solution, and overall, a well thought out article. The only thing that bothered me was the comment at the very end...where he said others in the world should have a 'say' in who gets voted in as president in the US.

    Makes sense in context though, and not so scary.

    Actually, MP was known to make their jokes less subtle for the US audiences.

    Apples and Oranges.

    I find it difficult to compare them when they are so different. For example, RAH deals a lot with hard science while PKD avoids it, yet both produce memorable, readable SF.

    You would think slashdotters would understand things like the need/want to communicate over 1000km using 1 millwatt of power, compete in radio direction finding ( very useful skill in an emergency). Ham radio allows anyone to experiment with digital radio, long distance, microwaves etc. And don't forget the cool geeks you can meet in your local radio club :)


    Not to mention that in an emergency, radio operators that can maintain their own equipment are more than useful.

    Linus, FSF, RMS sueing is bad, because in the long run it validates the idea that GPL is problematic legally.

    Crap, suppose you buy a gun to protect your family and property. If someone throws a stick at your house would you shoot them ? How about if they try to kidnap your family and burn your house ? Would you shoot them then ?

    SCO is trying to kidnap our family and burn our property, it is time to use the most effective defense possible.


    Exceptional circumstances demand exceptional action.
