Windows 8 isn't a walled garden. It has a walled garden, but you get a choice. I haven't heard anything that says that you have to release applications through the Windows app store or else it won't run on Windows 8

Look, great on expanding the platforms you're on (I commend putting Steam on Linux), but I'm pretty amazed at the complete lie being told about Windows 8. It makes you look like, well, a liar. Steam is going to do just fine on Windows 8. I'm on Windows 8 now and except for a hiccup with one game, I've had no problems.

"it is just as likely that they would receive more funding as they have already spent decades in product manufacturing R&D and traffic networking." Can you explain your logic behind this? If anyone can grow it, and the general population/corporations can by it, how does lead to more funding for the drug cartels? The drug cartels are there because there are only so many sources to get those drugs from. They may still get some business, but no where near what they had.

Great, you've got one death compared to...thousands and thousands because of alcohol (won't bother posting statistics since they are everywhere). Throw in the studies that show medicinal benefits, as well as getting rid of all crime around the underground market, not to mention the cost savings from no longer having the War on Drugs (costs money to arrest people, convict them, throw, and keep them in jail). \ The "no marijuana related deaths" means no deaths on overdose. You can easily kill yourself with alcohol poisoning. Not so much with THC. You're logic is just because some people within a larger group of people can't make an argument for their case, that something should be illegal?

Keep in mind that if you no longer want to give Sony money, you'll have to stop buying/using a number of products.

Beyond Playstation, this includes Blu-ray, movies (Sony owns Columbia Tristar Motion Picture Group, Columbia Pictures, Sony Pictures Classics, Screen Gems, TriStar Pictures, Columbia Pictures Film Production Asia, Columbia Films Producciones Espanolas, Columbia Pictures Producciones Mexico), music (Columbia/Epic Label Group, American Recordings, Columbia Records, Epic Records, Roc Nation, Star Time International, RCA/JIVE Label Group, Arista Records, Battery Records Black Seal, J Records, Jive Records, LaFace Records, Polo Grounds, RCA Records, Verity Gospel Music Group, Volcano Entertainment, Provident Label Group, Beach Street Records, Essential Records, Flicker Records, Reunion Records, Sony Music Commercial Music Group, Legacy Recordings, MASTERWORKS, RCA Red Seal, RCA Victor, Sony Classical, Sony Music Latin, Day 1, Sony Music Latin, Sony Music Nashville, Arista Nashville, BNA Records, Columbia Nashville, RCA Nashville, Music Choice Video and Mustic Network, Sony/ATV Music Publishing).

Sony's Wikipedia page has a pretty comprehensive list of companies and technologies that they've created.

I'm not saying it's impossible, but you have to really think about what you buy. It's pretty easy for me not to buy a PS3 considering I'm an Xbox fanboy, but the movies and music gets a little harder.

With all that said, fuck Sony.
