Simple. Play back the music in your favorite software, and record it in your favorite music editor, with the mode set to Stereo Mix. Then export it in your favorite format. The only problems you might have are skipping and long recording times.
This guy gave them a patch to a security hole for free. Normally it would cost the university a lot of money to hire a computer security analyst. So what do they do? They press charges against this kid, and blow money on lawyers.
Same goes for nuclear technology. You can use it to wipe out cities, or you can use it to power cities. (I personally support nuclear power, I don't see why people are against it (it's clean, long-lasting, unrelated to nuclear weapons).)
