Um.. I think I may have found a flaw in their methodology? They may have caught a whole fistful of arbitrary data with that "Wrist Motion" monitor.. Data that could force them to toss all their conclusions, which could choke off their funding and really stain their reputations. I don't want to come off as a know it all but this study seems a bit anti-climactic.
Instead of this being a CPT violation that requires all of physics to be "rewritten" there is another possibility that I hope they will look into.
Just like a finely balanced wind-vane (weather-vane) that can be moved around by the slightest breeze, might it not be the case that these particular isotopes (proton+neutron combinations) result in a unique very delicately balanced system that becomes "sensitive" to the movement and flow of other smaller matter/energy movements which can thus result in the apparent imbalance in shape?
For instance; if the nuclei of these isotopes are able to be influenced by the flow of a large enough number of neutrinos (for the sake of an example) traveling with sufficient energy then that could cause a wind-vane effect wherein the nuclei would be deformed in the direction of the neutrino flow, or perhaps the opposite? (btw: If this is the case then we now have the ability to build cheap neutrino detectors, or detectors of whatever is causing this.)
I sincerely hope that this idea is brought up with the scientists involved with these discoveries so that it can be investigated.
This is dead in the water unless they quickly find a way to add the glove-free hands tracking that Oculus is presently adding to the Rift. Oculus just bought a company that was about to make an add-on for the Rift that sits on the front of the Rift and tracks your hand/finger movements (very precisely) and mirrors them in the VR world so that you can interact with VR without any controllers or gloves.
This is a "Game Changer" that HTC/Valve are dead in the water without.

So what you're saying is ditch the space tech, invent resurrection tech? Because if you die on reality TV you're dead. Or have you got it confused with fake scripted "reality" shows played by actors pretending to be ordinary people?
No. Lets use a little imagination on this. The "Missions" and directives will all be coming from those running the show, or "Truman Show Conspiracy". They merely need to set things up so that one member of the team needs to separate from the others due to environment or planned circumstance, or at least create a high probability of it.
Once that member is out of sight they can shut off that members communication and have security "apprehend" them and take them off set. At that point they will film the emotional response of the shocked "astronaut". Then they will recruit them (with a non-filmed promise of more money) to ACT out a dramatic death sequence or some such for the other Mars astronauts to help make their environment and situation seem more real.
The only thing "Fake" in that methodology would be the acting done by the person who finally discovered the truth and then agreed to help perpetuate the experience for the others. And of course they could then enjoy going on every talk show to talk about what the experience was like for them and how it "has forever changed their lives". Expect books to be released under their names too.
If the funders are really serious about creating a Reality TV experience about volunteers taking a one way trip to Mars then this is the only way they can do it at this time:
1. They will publicly do exactly what they have been doing so far, all the while screening the applicants for those most likely to buy in to what they are being told.
2. Once they have the final applicants sequestered and completely removed from the public and communication with the outside world they may or may not give hints to the public about what is really going to happen:

After the Training "Season" and drama they will be boarded onto what is described to them as a top secret craft built by the Russians or whoever and carefully told that space travel technology is actually far advanced of what the public has been told and that they will be Pioneers in space exploration.
They will actually be entering an expensive yet economically viable simulated ship (ala Ascension http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A... where they will then spend a number of months "traveling" to Mars with cameras in every room.
After that season they will have a dramatic yet fright-filled arrival and landing at Mars. I assume at this point that they will pull a Capricorn One in some desert. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C... ).
At some point, as each person dies for some reason, the truth will be revealed to each one and we will have the Drama of them having their 'Second Chance' at life.

That might even allow Pluto to be reclassified as a planet again, either a Solar Planet or Kuiper Planet. I really think this system, plus other basic details like roundness etc, could be a more useful system. It would also allow a way to keep the number of planets more manageable since we could mostly focus on the Inner/Solar Planet count for general public use without the number of them being too high to manage.

Define a Planetary Region around a star, that would apply to all stars (actual distance per star could vary depending on Factors), in which Planetary objects would be called "Inner Planets" and one more region beyond it in distance where such same type objects would be called "Outer Planets". The Type Name of the Planets would instantly give anyone information about its position relative to its star, which is perhaps more important than telling us it's size "Dwarf". This would solve the old problem of non-Sol Planets not technically being "Planets" while also giving the public a common class of Planets to focus on and more easily remember while still being able to address all the other planets if needed.
I wonder what they're going to call these new objects, because they'll probably find a reason not to call them planets just like they did for Pluto.

The fact that this MMO will have in-world non-instanced Player Housing, ala SWG but even better, PLUS realistic non-restricted skill development are enough for me to get excited about this and invest in it. Being able to run my own server without waiting years for a community emulated one cinches it!
I would love it if they could eventually also add the capability for relatively unlimited underground adventuring, perhaps in layers? And Digging, ala Minecraft.
I would also love it if they could find a way to allow non-Steam use, at least for private servers. Otherwise I will have to always have my separate Steam-box running in order to play the game, which uses the same monitor as my main system, limiting my ability for normal use as MMO's are something I usually run in addition to other things at the same time and on the same system. I also run my non-steam games from within VMware VMs which Steam will NOT allow... I will Never install Steam or any Extreme DRM on my main system as I do development and business work on it too and won't tolerate the kernel hacking and virtual device restricting behavior they are known for as well as random destructive behavior that could cause me to have to reinstall the OS and rebuild the whole environment again, causing me unacceptable down-time.
Otherwise, best of luck on this project! I can see people using this MMO software for many years to come.:)

Computational thinking, or to use an older term, procedural literacy, is the idea that people should understand how to think in terms of processes, procedures, etc. Rather than teaching programming, which often (especially at introductory levels) focuses a lot on the mechanics of a programming language's syntax and other idiosyncracies, the idea is to teach people how to even think about the basic idea of a machine that can execute programs.
Many people can't do that: even leaving aside that they don't know C or Java or Lisp, they also don't really understand what an algorithm or a computer program is conceptually, and have absolute no idea what kinds of things can be computed and what kinds can't, or which are easy or harder to compute. They lack the ability to interact meaningfully with non-code representations of computation and algorithms as well, like flow charts or (natural-language) instruction sequences.
Google might do better to just buy a bunch of kids/people copies of the brilliant book:

Then Windows could do it's own thing with the boot drive and NTFS and it's cache etc, and ZFS would keep all your other data nice and safe.
