As usual, this case has been discussed in other places first. IIRC the "bruised testicle" was part of what the bitching is about.
We're in a bad spot in our society when these idiots aren't laughed out of the office. Let the freak homeschool her precious snowflake and stop being a burden on us.
I haven't found the answer to this yet: Virtualbox uses a flavor of RDP (or backwards compatible to RDP) called VRDE. Someone where I worked said this was a protocol problem, so exploit apply to virtualbox or is this just the implementation of RDP that Microsoft uses?
Why don't we make this business model explicitly illegal???
Oh yeah... government works for the highest bidder right now and never in the public interest. It should be explicitly illegal... buy "Intellectual Property" for the non-good faith reason of suing people and you lose it. Of course that is too simple to be accepted and I have no money to buy lobbyists.
Most likely they take the money through a browser at the time of login.
At least that's the way I would do it.
(and IF this is sarcasm then you're right on that the first thing the right-winger would say is "smelly," and if you ARE a right-winger then you sure showed your true colors)
Not every system you have needs to be connected to the Internet. Why in the world was such valuable digital property on a system that had ANY connection to the Internet, thorough NAT or otherwise?
I'm sorry... it just doesn't make sense. It's like all the talk of the vulnerable power grid... just don't put those items on the open internet. Or better yet... don't network them at all and have a human attend it in a secure place.
...it was that the public was PROPERLY informed for the *very first* time.
In other words, the public *wasn't* misinformed on these ideas for the very first time.
And look at the amount of effort it took. It proves the posit that we've all been saying: corporate monopoly of information is one of the worst things that can happen to a free society. There is no real marketplace of ideas in the U.S. This is one of the few times in scores of years there has been anywhere near a fair debate on an important subject, and certain players had to scream LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME to get it.
Having worked with different types of audio equipment my entire life I can assure you that this effect is real.
However, depending on the delay it might not "shut you up" completely. It can make you slur or not be able to form words. You can get stuck on a single syllable because your brain says you haven't finished it.
So, no, it doesn't sound just like simple feedback or echo.
There are teachers (like any industry) that are notorious for thinking they know more than the techs that have dedicated their lives and education to it.
I know that this is a common theme here and it's used way too much here, but this is a case where you can and have to vote with your feet.
This meme is popular at slashdot but I don't personally always buy it. Too many corporations have too much control of the marketplace. Paypal/ebay itself has too much control in how ebay auctions are paid for and in terms of online auction you don't really have a great group of alternatives when it comes to online auctions with a big audience. But this is porn. It's a commodity. It's descriptions of variations of the same group of actions. With this you can tell paypal to shove it and go with someone that really wants your business.
I read "1984" in the fifth grade. Is it a kid's book?
At one point two naked boys crawling around, one ending up in a position of obvious (to religious idiots) homoerotic bondage.
again you are asking for reason. Don't do that. It's unfashionable.
cable is another sleazy metaphor.

So he moved back to Microsoft? Huh? Don't get it.
Now he'll experience a "corporate mandate called $variable"
where $variable = { "the cloud" , "Windows 8" , "whatever marketing thinks up next" }

If this is "outbreak of sanity" (and I don't know without more detail) then it will probably only be a TEMPORARY outbreak of sanity.
Protecting IP like rabid dogs is considered "common sense" these days, and we all know how often common sense is actually wrong.
Not sure why this is "flamebait." "Smelly" is a favorite ad hominem putdown.

maybe because you're making the unfounded assumption that homeless == dishonest.
I liked it when it was a Macintosh app called "At Ease."
They are allowed to "charge what they want" for ebooks.
What they aren't allowed to do by law is get together with competitors and all agree to the same prices.
You can get several more "ladies of the night" to sit on your lap for the price of one iPad.
They regularly harass cosplayers that post sexy but otherwise non-offensive photos.
Correction... it turns offensive when you're female and the girl looks better in tights and has better cleavage than you do.
Look for an anime column (under a pseudonym, of course) in the upcoming weeks.

That's human nature. Think Dilbert's boss.

Hmmm... I don't like Yahoo or Facebook.
I think I'll hate the patents themselves. Another ridiculous patent suit wasting the time and money of the courts.
The part every judge doesn't understand anymore: that people and corporations are supposed to be treated equally in court.
"...and paid them enough money to brand it as a dietary supplement."
