That is why people are not ranting and raving like they did to Microsoft... Sure MS had anti-competiive stuff going on but in reality most people doesn't care about that. What they cared about was the fact that their products were bad and they didn't have any alternatives.

Right now apple products are relatively good, although there is a lot of anti-competive stuff apple is in no way in a safe spot... Google just may beat out apple for the phone/mobile market. The MP3 Player market is relatively old tech so the iPod dominance is dwindling very slowly, hence why they went to the phone market. Last decade was good for apple. Leaving software that needs to be operated by a high security user where they normally shouldn't need to be such. Also allowing everyone to install their own tools without asking why sure may be less efficient for the short run but it will make sure all the other people are on the same plate so you don't need to use XYZ tool to fix the code where you are the only one who knows it.

Secondly the idea that a good software developer make a good administrator is false too. I have done both and they are really two different type of skill sets. Programming is like building Administrations is using what has been built. Lets use a Car anology... A good driver doesn't need to know how to make a car. Maintenance and upkeep $50,000

That leaves about $50,000 for charitable works. So say there are 100 people who are in need... that leaves $500.00 a year per family. To feed 1 person it would be $25 per week making that $1300.0 per person per year in need. Leaving a gap of $800 that the person still needs.

There are some things Open Source has always had trouble with. The most basic is making integrated User Interfaces, it is very hard to find a large base of developers who are willing to give a good UI for free as well working with non-programmers who don't care about open source to help create work (such as graphic designers) for free. I am not saying it can't be done for a particular project as I am sure Slashdot will give a me a slew of projects that have a great UI. But to have it don't for many projects gets much harder.

But there are things that Open Source does much better then commercial such as security and stability, and a lot of core functionality and features. These are things that good programers like to do and are willing to give it out just to help the community and/or make them selfs look good.

Hybrid really brings the best to both worlds. A UI and integration can be recoded and redone as the need exists and the backend that does the real work can open so compatibility and interportability can be established and prevent anyone from having a strangle hold on the systems knowledge.
