I haven't come to a solid conclusion about the Toyota thing, but I'm leaning to human error.
As to the idea of "power steering and hydraulic braking" becoming detached from the system, that's becoming increasingly difficult these days. ABS/Stability control are often tied to the ability of the computer to work the ABS pump. Power steering is increasingly becoming electric as a fuel efficiency measure. Some are using speed to determine the amount of assist to provide the driver. While the latter has been done with hydraulic power assist, electric makes this significantly more simple.
The power steering and braking get disabled when the car is shut down, as they're driven by engine power. In the TFA it said that the only way to fix the error was to turn the car off. Try shifting to neutral and killing the engine sometime (in a deserted parking lot of course!) and you'll most likely notice that the steering and braking both become MUCH more difficult.
Couldn't we make this much more difficult if we simply required the item sale and the shipping to be charged to 2 different credit cards from the same billing address if the shipping address on the order isn't the same as the billing address on the card used? Sure it would make buying and shipping Christmas presents a bit more of a hassle, but the crook would need TWO of your cards in order to fraudulently buy anything.
Could be a terrible idea, but seems pretty simple and only a minor inconvenience.
IAAFLLU (I am a former little league umpire) - I'd be all for having a sensor based ball/strike call. Nothing more annoying than having 1/2 the fans yelling strike and 1/2 yelling ball... over a game for 9yr olds. A simple red/green light somewhere would be perfect. In my opinion the home plate ump is still needed though to ensure that foul balls are picked up properly and judge if the batter swung or not (some of those calls are really close). Not to mention tag out situations.
If the system was a simple boolean limited to "was the ball in the strike-zone" or not I think it could improve the game by a large amount.
If you read the link he provided you would have noticed that the weight bias of the car only changed by about 1%, and the car only gained 200lbs. If the rotary was significantly lighter than the stock engine, it could screw up the handling much worse by unweighting the front end, causing understeer issues.
Big hp numbers don't mean it's useless around corners... or was that because it's an American V8?
I'm also curious why they hardly mention a word about virtual reality. Seems to me like an OBVIOUS application for this device. Put it together with a Kinect sensor and you'd have a pretty kick-ass setup.
I'd be surprised if they didn't have at least some optical adjustment. Most cameras have had adjustable viewfinders for a long time.
That's a kick ass setup right up to the point that you pretend lightsaber through the front of your TV:)
Yep. All hail the Nexus S! Seriously, it's the only smartphone I considered just because I knew I wouldn't have to deal with the the ATT bullshit preloaded. Sure it doesn't have the latest whizbang 3D or a crazy large screen, but it does have a gorgeous amoled screen, a decent processor and a clean OS. Only thing I wish it had was an SD slot... but with 16gb on board I should still be ok. Still I'd rather have the expansion slot if needed.
My wife dropped 2 phones in the toilet over a span of 2 weeks. How? She was putting it in the big front pocket of a hooded sweatshirt because she didn't like packing it in her jeans pocket. After phone number 2 I bought a bluetooth enabled house phone (pretty clever actually, syncs 2 phones and they then ring throughout the house). Now she just leaves her phone in her purse in the kitchen. Problem solved!
The awful band doesn't glide, they rise through the air as Bono is is so full of hot air their overall density is lower than the surrounding atmosphere.
(Really pretty impressive if you think about it. There is so much hot air in Bono that it counteracts the weight of all the shit he's full of.)
200hrs before Kvatch?!? Wow. I bow to you sir and your copious amount of free time:) I've probably got 40hr before Kvatch spread over like 6-7 characters. I tend to love starting over and trying a diff class & strategy. Generally never finish because I'll be bored of being a theif/archer/brawler/mage like 1/2 way through and start over again.
The one I was using then was cloning my desktop and had been for a few years at that point. The issue was the tech didn't know how to send the MAC address to the home office to authorize it on the network... or even that he needed to send the MAC address in the first place. The application on the CD he wanted to install did all this for him, but it also added a bunch of bloatware and changed the title bar in IE plus othe annoying stuff that I didn't feel like hunting down and killing.
Mod parent up. Was just thinking of a ridiculous support call I had with Comcast around 8 years ago. Actually it was during the initial hookup. Nearly had to throw the tech out of my house when he tried to put a CD in my desktop! I ended up just having the onsite tech hand me the phone as I read off the MCA address I wanted them to authorize. (Do they still even do that?)
I'm no M$ fanboi, but Bill Gates did give away most of his fortune and is trying to cure malaria and what not. Even if his business practices were a bit scummy that's gotta earn him some nice guy points!
Larry Ellison would be more likely to use his fortune to invest in a pharmaceutical company that makes malaria medicine and then start a bunch of mosquito farms...
Porbably would have been a damn bit more difficult than that very simple font. Besides, if Hollywood has taught us anything its that aliens read and write in ENGLISH and that's obviously who this is written for:)

Woosh.
Which ironically is the sound one of those flying rodent thingies makes as it flies right over your head ...
Jimmy Buffet would say that it's always drunken parrot season ...
Yes, it's amazing how well your economy recovers when you don't have to invest heavily in your own defense.
... because the Americans will do 99% of that investing for you?
Tyrant = sociopath + megalomaniac + sucess
I was hoping someone had gotten out technical documents of bipedal weapons platforms, or powered armor, or SOMETHING. :(
I was also hoping that Mitsubishi had went from Zero to Heero as well ...
Now I can replace live TV on my TV!
There's a "yo dawg" in there soemwhere ... I just know it.
Even at $1 a day it seems like it be cheaper to buy the shoes. How little are you paying these shoe-tiers of yours?
Well according to Sally Struthers they would be able to feed themselves on just 35% of that a day.

Shouldn't you be flying the plane rather than posting on Slashdot? Or does Kareem have that covered? :)

how many great artists and scientists have been at some time or another, drunk and/or homeless?
And most of those nobody even heard of before their deaths. Could be doing their posthumous career a favor.
... people with diabetes glow?
Unfortunately, 1984 has remained the most prescient book written. Brother, let us hope that winning streak ends sometime.
Be careful what you wish for as there are many other books I'd rather not hold the title of "most prescient" ;)
