Naw, that is when we relies on politicans who don't know nothing about a particular issue to make choices for US of A. Also, don't forget political spinning, only promoting their characters instead of their issue, etc. If only the population can be taught to resist such petty tactics and actually consults the geeks, the scientists, or what have you. The problem is we humans, are stupid.

Ha! As if you know what my knowledge of copyright is?
I am not an economist :) but I do have a rather strong opinion on copyright law.

From my rather brief exploration of copyrightalliance.org, it is not a good source for copyright debate information. It seem to support the strengthing of copyright laws. I am also having a hard time finding informations that oppose their views. In short, it is not really netrual

If you can tell me why my view of copyright are not well informed, I would be grateful.

I did read several articles and books on the issue of copyright. I also debate furiously with other people on copyright(and patents). I defintely heard many agurements for copyright and their counteragurements.

I am not afraid of being ridiculed, mind you. So I will defend my positions.

You don't have the right to make a living. You only have the right to try. Big differences. If you can't make a living because you can't figure out how to take advantage of the fact that people copy. There are probably numberous ways to make a living. If you're a musicans, you could tour the country giving live performances while letting your recorded musics go around. If anything, copyright law are really intellectual monopoly. They let you control people's copies, which the buyers probably obtained legimatively from someone else. You can make everybody to stop distributing your work until the end of the copyright term. Killing and copying is not anaglous either. With copying, I am not depriving anyone of their liberty, their health, and otherwise. With killing, I am depriving someone of their health. With sex, I am infringing on someone's liberty. Copying does not harm. In fact, if you take advantage of it as an artist, they will work for you instead of against you.

If using proprietary softwares is the way to achieves linux popularity is the way to do it. But are we willing to pay the price of non-freedom? Or we simply don't care? Even if we justify it as a way to gain more freedom in the long term. I fear that we will go down the slippy slopes of being dependent on proprietary softwares. Not good. The anti-FSF is high right now. But to FSF, VISTA is the enemy as everything properitary softwares are enemies. Don't be surprise that FSF is anti-vista or even anti-Microsoft. Microsoft just happen to be the no. 1 public enemy to FSF.

Anybody who is using proprietary softwares will at some point be urged by the FSF not to use it, and instead use Free softwares. Do not forget FSF's contributions, or there are no Free software movement, or even the Open Source movement.

Of course, I don't speak for the FSF. I do strongly agree with the FSF's philosophy.

What the government should be doing is protecting the right of the individuals(The right to free speech, freedom of religion, etc), therefore for the good of society. Enemy combatants are not the only one to be a threat to freedom, but also fear, corporate interest, ignorance, and other factors. Remember the quote "There is nothing to fear but fear itself". I believe the enemy combatants(Islamic extremists) won when USA become a police state. However, I don't it will be. Remember the "Red Scare"? We're still a relatively free country after that.

NASA is a legendary organization during the space race. We need to make NASA a legendary level government organization again.

We have very good reason to go to Mars. Discovering lifeform on another planet is very improtant. Even if it is bacteria life, it will be a still very important step to answering mankind's question "Are we alone?".
