How many Linux fanboys really would buy something from Dell? I can't imagine that many people would not prefer to stick Linux on an old home built PC or build a new one custom.
Just because the checksum on the key may work, it has to be a key that was actually issued by MS for it to get activated. Lots of trial and error here.
Amen. They are as evil as the next company. I get tired when people place Google (censorship, eco-friendly 747 jumbo jet/office) and Apple (stock scandal, rumored factory conditions) up on a pedestal as examples of the perfect organization and the choice alternative to the first corps on the block.
I've have had experience with the Gates Foundation and I can honestly say they are genuine people. (Yes, they were successfully validated!)
If Windows had been an open-source project Slashdot would think Gates is Christ in the flesh.
(and I run Vista, XP AND Red Hat boxes, thank you.)
They will revoke my keys from my cold, dead hands!
Once a disc is ripped and re-burned this entire key thing becomes a moot point.
I don't seem them making a public war out of this. The 99% of people who will never make illegal copies will just continue to pay a jacked-up price to cover perceived losses.
Are there or have there ever been any operating system exploits that could allow someone to remotely connect and allow said "hacker" to quietly upload and share copyrighted material?
I know very well of one small business that had a virus that set up a hidden FTP server of French porn. Would the small business be liable in this case?

Yes, we'd be SO much safer without such a list

Told you Microsoft was evil! Oh, wait!
Amen.
I'm going to use ADD to get out of my next speeding ticket. I'm going to use the thinning hair excuse to get out of taxes next year.
Thanks, Slashdot!
more important than increased speed is the touted additional distance....
I do read Slashdot. It must have been buried within the ever-growing MS bashing. (and yes, I do loathe WGA)
Would pointing this address locally just increase the frequency it phones home??

There are keygens for the last two versions of MS Office and also for Windows XP. This is nothing new.
trying to find many titles to run on Linux
Another fanboy quick to harp on MS without reading the article first.
you mean the *other* browser has holes too?

Haven't scientists also been given money by special interest groups to PROVE global warming theories??
yes...it's crappy people got invalid keys.
You're misguided to think more any of these people go to Linux instead. They paid for their product and will either get a refund or a new key.

This is SO Friday. Isn't Web 2.0 suppose to be faster?
Switch to Internet Explorer 7!
this happened two days ago...yawn...next tragedy, please?
Don't like it, don't buy it. Funny how that works!
Wasn't this a joint venture between Ford and Coors Silver Bullet? I guess people won't need to worry about this thing being stolen.
