  1. Pathetic on HP Pondering Sale of WebOS · · Score: 1

An all-hands-on-deck meeting just to hear Meg Whitman recite her version of Hamlet's soliliquiy? Leo Apotheker must be cackling loudly while counting his golden parachute lucre.

However, this sordid affair does prove there is no afterlife, as evidenced by the fact neither Hewlett nor Packard have come back to strangle everyone at HP HQ that's wearing a suit.

  2. Sunlight on B&N Sought DoJ Inquiry Over Microsoft Patents · · Score: 2

If they have a valid claim, Microsoft should not be allowed to hide it under a blackmail-as-nda bushel basket. If they do have something valid, I suspect it is very trivial to work around and they know it. Hence their wisper campaign against Linux / Android whilst steadfastly refusing to show actual proof.

And when did Brinksmanship become an acceptable / legal business practice? Perhaps it was part of the Supreme Court horseshit decision about Corporate Personhood...

we're about two years from the first lawsuits against these printing service for IP violations. Let's say you break a plastic bracket on your ten-year old car and instead of paying say $80 for one from the dealer, you have one reproduced for half that. Oh, There Will Be Blood. Once these 'printing houses' are shut down, the machines themselves will be impossibly expensive as they will have a five-figure cost added on for licensing fees. Once again, the blood-sucking corporations will make sure the future stays uncool.

  11. Meaning on Amazon Launching eBook Lending Program, Publishers Unenthusiastic · · Score: 1

Remember that libraries are not free, in fact you subsidize them with your property taxes

Meaning if the GOP gains the White House and Senate again, damn near every US library will be bulldozed and the land sold to real estate developers. An ignorant public is a controllable public (this also explains their desire to destroy effective (read: funded) public education).

Everyone looks the same and has the same basic ancestry, so there wasn't any history of Exploit/Hate/Persecute The Others and the lingering after-effects. As heartbreaking as it is, elightened quasi-soclialism will never work in multi-cultural societies because of the differences and the cynical exploitation of those differences by the Sons of Machiavelli.
