from the large number of people on Yahoo Answers that cannot properly "jailbreak" their iPhone, don't argue that it's easy
I'd argue that it is easy to jailbreak an iPhone and refute your statement using the simple fact that the world is full of incredibly stupid people and they seem to be drawn to Yahoo. If I ever need evidence of people's stupidity, I either go to bash.org or Yahoo Answers.
How is it locked down if I can access the source code? What is stopping me from changing whatever I want? If you are saying it is locked down because it only runs on Windows, you are confused. That just means the code isn't cross-platform.
You used something for 6 months and then expected a refund?! Then you threatened them with a chargeback that you might have not even qualified for? No wonder they weren't nice to you. Who do you think you are?
I believe that in the context of computers, serious gaming is running the latest games and pushing the hardware and, as a bonus, you might get a good plot. That is why gaming PCs and laptops are extremely expensive. Netbooks and gaming in this context do not go together. It sounds like they are trying to reinvent the laptop and the direction they are taking is leading them right to what laptops are, not something different.
Just because your technological solution isn't as high tech as mine doesn't diminish the problem. The way I read your response was "I didn't even need a computer so you can't complain that your favorite Office equivalent isn't quite as equivalent as you thought." That sounds like an excuse to me, not a solution.
Open source rocks if you aren't in school. I've started classes after the summer break and got a lesson in why I keep Vista and Office 2007 around. Evolution doesn't let you create appointments that follow your class schedule. For example, I have a class on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Outlook let's you check the appropriate boxes for recurrences but Evolution only lets you do one day a week, so you have to create 3 weekly appointments just for one class.
I just tried to print off a powerpoint in my favorite note-taking format, 3 slides per page with lines for notes. Presentation, or whatever it is called, doesn't do that. You have to set it up manually and draw the lines yourself.
I used to like Office because it was familiar, now I like it because it quickly and easily does what I want.
I won't have an Outlook replacement until I can create a weekly MWF recurring appointment, or something of that nature, without creating a separate recurring appointment for each occurrence during the week. I've been using that feature for years and was shocked to find Evolution didn't also do that.
Playing DVDs is not a pain at all. Ubuntu says,"Hey, what's this? Can I figure out how to use it, please?" Windows just says,"That isn't supported" and offers no further information or help.
What the heck is more generic than a random city name followed by 4 digits
What is more generic than a bunch of letters stuck together? Why would McDonalds be mad if I used that random collection of letters as the name of my restaurant? See, I can take examples too far, as well.
I guess Bank of America isn't a "corporate overlord". I just got a new debit card from them and it doesn't have an RFID tag. I'm sure they'd be proud to tell me if it did. Besides, very few places actually have readers, even in the middle of DFW.
I was really nervous the first time I upgraded my parents' computer until I realized it was practically impossible to screw it up. Sure, RAM is easy to screw up but everything else has its own spot and cables can't go in the wrong hole.
People don't get Opera because there are free alternatives that don't have ads. Which would most people use: a free, ad-supported browser or the free and ad-free browser that came with their computer? People are stupid but they aren't that stupid.
A school's job is to educate. When you walk into a business, the chances that it uses Microsoft are much higher than Open Office. Why not train students to use the software they are most likely to encounter?
Why can't it be reproduced? Isn't copyright all about making sure artists get the money they deserve? Where is the money in burying a few disks? There is no intent for profit here. Wouldn't this fall under Fair Use or something similar?
If the iPhone is "just a phone", then my computer must be just a glorified typewriter. Let's pay no attention to the other things it can do. Let's not mention that I do other things on my iPhone more often than I make calls.
Damn NBC for not showing the opening ceremony while I and millions of others in their target market were at work! I was looking forward to missing it so I didn't have to spend hours in front of the tv amazed by the most spectacular ceremony ever.

What he means by "not restricted" is "not attempting to do something that's restricted".
As for "why not", he implied that it takes effort to implement DRM, so why waste money with it if no one will ever see it?
Those aren't English words and qwerty isn't even a word.
I missed the part where he said a non-user-replaceable battery was a good thing. Could you point it out, please?
That is pretty much just like Prohibition. Alcohol wasn't prohibited but basically everything you wanted to do with it was prohibited.

If open source doesn't mean access to the source code, what is this "source" thing? Can I put it on my turkey next month? Is it good on ribs?

Read my first post. I'm pretty sure I explained it already.
An appointment that occurs every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. That's how college classes are typically scheduled.

There is a difference between accepting bugs and accepting that bugs happen.
It looked like legs to me, not hydraulics. Add to that the slightly inconsistent motion and it seems like you are just making things up.
