Not everyone watches specific shows. I know a lot of people that just turn on the tv to watch something, and they channel surf. But I take back my comment about it not working, there are a lot of people this can satisfy including myself.
I don't think it will work, but for different reasons. I think a majority of people will be willing to put up with commercials for TV, rather than pay for it. 99 Cents for a song that has at least a little bit of replay capability is ok. 1.99 for something that 99% of the time has no replay value I think is kinda steep.
Never said I could read replies, but I can send out a text message while the phone is in my pocket. But that's not the point. It's perfectly safe *IF* people keep the priority where it needs to be. For example... My ex-girlfriend could not even talk and drive while I was in the car, but then again she would get angry when I was driving and I would pause mid-sentence to change lanes or something.
Well I don't really care how the text message comes out, as long as my eyes are still on the road. People have to learn priorities, if you're talking on the phone and driving, sometimes you just have to drop the phone.
While I agree that texting while actually driving is far more dangerous, the only time a cop will be able to fine someone for this is the times when it's OK. Like sitting in bumper to bumper traffic or sitting at a red light.
Don't forget some people are more capable than others, I openly admit I have texted while driving, but I can do it without looking at the cellphone at all.
Knowing Comcast like I do, probably limited to 300KB/s. I'm not kidding either, they have upgraded the speed of their network 3 times, and the upload always remains the same.
Water linked to mass murderers'! The killer at VA Tech drank water, and there is a lot of supporting evidence that other serial killers also drank water as well.
If we can have a redundancy for the pilots why not just prevent the cabin door from being opened EVER during flight (and I mean it's not physically possible even for the pilots)? Or eliminate the cabin door completely and have a different entrance for the pilots? So the cockpit will need a crapper.....
The RIAA and MPAA need to realize what they REALLY need to do: make stuff cheaper. Places like allofmp3.com prove people are willing to pay for stuff. I think the prices on allofmp3.com are VERY reasonable and those prices are what I think the disposable stuff that comes out of the RIAA is worth. The same goes for movies. When I can download a full length movie for the price of what on demand streams it to you for... I'm only going to watch it a maximum of twice anyway.
What I'm getting at is the media companies should realize that their stuff isn't worth more than a plastic one time use spork to the average user, and sell it as such. I imagine they will see returns way more than what they cut the cost by. Imagine if iTunes cut the cost of an song to 20 cents, I'm willing to bet that they will sell WAY more than 5 times the amount of songs. In fact I'm willing to bet the average consumer spends more then they would at 99 cents.
I think it's a great thing. I'm trying to make the switch over to linux completely, but always stumble across finding solutions that don't require me to compile something.
I can only hope it's an all out cage match to the death.
That's not the same thing. Offer the same movie in the next showing with advertising for free. Then see who goes to what.

Your post made me realize I don't really need my cable subscription anymore, and I could save a bunch of money. Thanks, please mod parent up.

Does that comment seem more like damage control than a reversal of statements?
I'm sure Digital Consumer Enabled content was available on piratebay.org

I just want to to die at 80-90 looking and feeling like I'm 30. THAT would be awesome.

There is a place on your tax forms for this already... "Income from other sources", if you collect income, you have to pay income tax....
I know if they cut down to allofmp3 prices, they would get a infinite % of sales increase from me, since currently they get zero.
Everyday is no DRM day for some of us ;)

Sorry that's my fault, I just can't get this install to work right :(
Isn't there some theory that says once a civilization reaches a certain technological point in their development they wipe themselves out?

Unless you call running [emacs|vi] in applegate's mindterm (java-web based ssh client), web based?
I still prefer emacs *Awaits bashing from VI users*
