    OK, a quick look here for some hard numbers: Count and density of human retinal photoreceptors.

    Shows only about 60 Million net receptors (rods+cones) in the human eye. Only 1/20 is for color, and almost none are for blue. So unless it's gonna be printed on the side of a building (which you view from far away) you only need a few megapixels for your little 4x5" prints.

    Of course, that wont stop anyone...

    Because that's way to obvious to anyone with a second grade education ;)

    Everyone admits (now) that RSS was a really stupid protocol even as protocols go.

    Oh, and the timestamp thing adds far less processing overhead then the reduction of packets would save.

    Multitasking also doesnt mix well with research, creativity, or anything really worth doing well for that matter.

    This is all about the taxes, and accounting. Options were great because they were paid for by investors, not the company. That's changing soon.

    Now they need ways to pay non-salary money, that comes from nowhere - print more stock!. And they may as well do things that keep you around longer as they do it. Luckily, printing more stock still doesn't cost the company any money, it's from the current investors that get diluted.

    It's getting really hard to pay your workers with other peoples money!

    I wonder how the Fold@Home total CPU power compare to this in terms of percentage?

    Folding@home has almost 3x the FLOPS, but we're all on the same side here. Slightly different problems can be tackled when you have local bandwidth.

    Also keep in mind that Folding@home is not one project, but dozens of projects sharing the same CPU pool.

    Years to go before we figure out how folding really happens...

    Wake up. There is orders of magnitude more money on the advertising and blackmarket side.

    Yea, sad thing is if they couldnt take their HQ elsewhere, the taxes are so high here they would just move EVERYTHING. SO be glad they can do this otherwise Wall Street would flatline their stock.
