um, itms does have a lot of indie stuff. i know for a fact they carry vagrant records (dashboard confessional, etc.) anyone else remember the press conference a few months ago when they announced all the indie labels that had come onboard?
actually, that works on a microwave because the diameter of the hole is smaller than the wavelength of the radiated field. if you tried to shield a computer case in this manner, it would take a mesh so fine that for all intents and purposes it would be opaque.
been doing this for over a year

What Free Cable?

i'm on a cable provider in georgia. we've been doing this for almost a year, ever since we got the cable modem. i thought it was pretty much common knowledge.
i personally am very, very pleased that apple is making a stand like this and not caving in to the record companies like everyone else. apple has pretty much always done things its own way, and this is just another example of that.
of course, i'm sure if they did start supporting copy protection thier ipod sales would drop like a rock.
what are you talking about? in 'the mummy returns' it clearly said that he (the rock) was dying in the desert and made a pact with anubis. anubis saved him and let him use his armies of undead warriors in return for his (the rock) soul. go watch the movie again.
and it was pretty bad. i almost agree totally with katz. except that it was 20 rubies, not rupies. i think.
anyway, it's obivious that they kept the rock's lines down to 6 words or less for a reason. he's not the best actor in the world.
the thing that bothered me the most is that it was nothing like the story that was portrayed in the mummy returns. the rock, instead of almost dying in the desert and being saved by anubis, was shot with a poisoned arrow and almost died from that. the sorceress saved him. also, there wasn't an army of the undead anywhere to be seen.
that's enough spoilers i guess, but be warned... if you go see this, don't expect anything like the story you heard in the mummy returns.
remember what a pain winmodems are/were for linux? almost impossible to get them working, at least in the old days. if m$ is successful in getting wireless companies to use software instead of hardware, could that be the end of wireless for linux?
now, not only can they see how much money you have, but they can see exactly who you are too.... scary (that's a joke, people).
sounds like it's high time to start building some short range RF interference devices. oh wait, that would be a violation of the DMCA.
for the love of god, give cerulean some money

AOL vs. Trillian

these people are working hard for nothing, and from the number of posts on this thread, it looks like a lot of people use trillian. i know i do, and have been for quite some time. just give em a dollar or two, it won't hurt you any.
unlike the cube, this device has a fan in it. it's right under the monitor support, blowing up and out. i'll be interested to see what the price range is, since the imac is supposed to be the low end device.
i agree, it sounds like another form of astroturfing on the part of linux enthusiasts. on the other hand, it's a good thing all those governments are switching to linux.
that the complexity of silicon chips would double.
this guy can't even get moore's law right. he forgot the 18 month part. if he doesn't know something that fundamental, he really has no place trying to predict computer trends.
also, predicting things like video conferencing. yay. people have been predicting things like that for at least five years.
my apartment and the one nextdoor are already doing this with cables. we share a cable modem and have 8 boxes linked together. no complaints so far. wireless would be great for us, but catV is quite a bit cheaper when you work for someone who installs it. heh.
the record labels are going to get ahold of this and turn it around to actually produce the music. then it will all sound the same.
wait....

not necessarily... a lot of companies are trying to move to a lead-free scheme, and this might be a good way to do it.
shortest. summary. ever.
the lcd imac (and i think the Tibook aslo) already uses heat pipes. sandia is way behind.
correct me if i'm wrong, but couldn't this guy be thrown in jail for documenting and sharing all this stuff?

a laptop, only less durable. sounds like fun.
anyone knows what an IC is?
IC == Integrated Circuit, the little (or big) black things with all the little tiny pins. they're tough to solder to, unless you've had some practice.

looks like apple (or time) killed the story. the link now forwards to time.com. oh well, hope everyone got a look that wanted it.

who wants to bet that the next two movies will be available for download long before they're released?

give em the chair! oh wait, just make them use microsoft products for the rest of their lives.
at least some places are taking a serious interest in privacy.
i saw one today in target. i have to say, i wasn't all that impressed with it.
