Apple!!!! Bring OSX to X86 and we will make it worth your while!
The point you are forgetting is that Apple makes and sells hardware, and only makes software so that they can sell that hardware. They'll give you the OS for free, as long as you pony up for the box. They have no interest, financially, to port or sell OS 10 to X86.
I was having a little thought experiment going through these lists of names and such, and something dawned on me. It's fairly obvious from the data on these lists that men's names hang around a lot longer than women, and generally, it seems the top 10 was very stable in males (up until very recently, I had no idea Jacob was that popular...) while female names change top 10 at least once a generation. I was thnking why this happened, and when you think of female names, there are definitely "old" sounding names compared to males. No one thinks James or Robert sounds old, but Mildred and Ruth sound like older women's names. The one thing that came to me is that women "don't want to end up like their mother" while men look up to their father, even after he chops your hand off in a lightsaber battle. It seems like women's names gain a stigma of "old", and it's worse for a woman to be old than a man, so women name their daughter's newer, cuter names, where men respect their elders more (or something), so continue the line of Michael's and William's. Or I'm a sexist nutjob who should actually be working at work instead of reading/.
Odd, I though the state you lived in provided the enviroment in which buinesses could thrive, and that by being an employee of such a business, the state has given you an opportunity at gainful employment. "did nothing at all to earn that money" *grumble grubmle*
They got it wrong. Simple as that. How do you list the top 25, or even the top 5, Simpsons episodes without Hank "Ever see a guy say good-bye to a shoe?" Scorpio. EW has done a travesty to us all. I've written my congressman about this, seeking a Simpsons Fans Reparations From Entertainment World Act of 2003.
Why on Earth(TM) would the MPAA allow you to let everyone in your neighborhood watch the movie you're watching now? They better give out parrots and eyepatchs with these windows, cuz now you're a pirate. Yeah, and the pr0n references everyone else is making also hold up quite nicely. Although you could use it like a screensaver, instead of closing you're blind, put the "we're eating dinner", we're watching tv", or "we're playing billiards" movie on the windows when naughty time comes around. No peeping toms, since they can only see what you want them to see. Although, now they'll prolly flock to watch The Simpons on your widescreen window.
There are people working on this. Currently, Phoenix is the brower only app. It's lean, quick, and efficient. Bugs are still being worked out, but it's very usable right now. Also, K-Meleon is a browser that uses the Gecko rendering engine, but not the Mozilla XUL interface.
As for email/news clients, there are two, I believe. Thunderbird and Minotaur. Neither are out at all yet to use.
It's a halloween scavenger hunt. The objective is to use your Hiptop mobile device, and take pictures of as many things on the list as you can. There are 5 teams (which are closed, sorry johnny-com-lately's), each vying for the fabulous prizes being awarded to the one team that score the most points (each item on the list has a point value. McDonalds is 1, White Castle 2. George W. Bush is 8, Al Gore is.5).
I have a danger hiptop/sidekick. I got it because I wanted a pda with a keyboard. That could do web and email. But the big selling point for me was integrated AIM. Plus unlimited data. So far, the battery ran good for about 20 hours, which is plenty. Plus, you have to factor in new factor, where I'm playing with it everywhere, not just when I need it.
Don't know what it is, but I really don't like the palms. I don't want a touch pad, or handwriting anythng. The keyboard on this thing rocks. Plus the scroll wheel does everything you need it to, and it's relatively quick at doing it.
I haven't gotten into the to do/calendar/PIM stuff yet, but I'm not sure Ill use those excessively. Although the contact manager just makes sense, and makes speed dialing really easy.
I'm giving my own +1 Wicked moderation to this cool little device.
Btw, you can see some of the pics I took with this thing on www.hiptop411.com. I'm MediumDave on there, and yes, that is my dog;)
Remember in Jurassic Park 3? The scientist guy fired some sort of blasting cap into the ground, and then used the resulting seismic waves to "see" the raptor skeleton below the ground. Now why on Earth (or in Egypt...) can't they use some similar seismic/sonar device to solve the innnevitably horrible punch line to this pyramid "door" joke? It seems like this wouldn't hurt anything, although maybe my grasp on reality might be a few fingers short, and that tech from the movie never really existed outside of the celluloid the picture was shown on...
I don't understand why they need to run these tests. Why don't they just watch Dragonball? Goku trained in 100x gravity, and his power level skyrocketed. Aren't they worried about these worms becoming Super Saiyin?
I think the author of the article wants to keep the Doom III engine super expensive. He's talking about making their current engine, the Quake III engine, license on the cheap before they GPL it like they did with the Quake I engine. But you make a good point. Except for the legal ramifications, the software could easily be shared. But generally, those legal ramifications are enough to convince anyone who will be publishing a game through id to think twice before sharing that 3d engine.
Most people who are using Windows didn't install their OS, it came on their machine when they bought it. So practically, when someone buys a PC, they spend no time installing their OS. Just a thought.
They regularly update their 3 machine specifications: God Box, Hot Rod Box, and Budget Box, inorder or price and goodies, of course. But what they mostly include is advice on buying what parts, why to buy them, what to look for if you're not buying that exact part, and how to buy the parts you need for the best price. The last part is most important. You can buy the same piece of hardware you need at many places on the net. The key is getting it the cheapest. The price comparison places I've been using are:
Some other people said getting your cpu, mem, and mobo from one place. I'd like to say almost that. CPU and mobo, for sure. But I always buy my memory from
We used to have the same thing in my office, and I was in the same position. We setup a network file server with lots of hard drive space, and forced users to logon to the domain. Then we secretly replaced their hard drive with 4 gig versons, so there wasn't much room for them to be saving on. And then we setup a nightly backup of that entire server. Withing 2 weeks, pretty much everyone had their stuff on the network, and as an added side effect, we came up with a naming convention for saving client data, and all client data is saved in the same place now, making finding info much easier and much more efficient. Every user also has a don't ask, don't tell, personal folder that only they (except me, of course) have access to. For personal stuff, like docs, pictures of family, mp3's, pr0n, you name it, they got it...
No silly. When Sony released the PSOne version of the original PSX, they also released a 4-5 inch LCD screen that attaches to the back of the PSOne. It's meant to be a travel system, something you plug into the lighter in your minivan to keep the kids quiet on the way to Grandma's house. Check the link, and you'll see.
Honestly, this mod would kill pretty much all battery life in the GBA. Running two screens at once, one of them 50% bigger then power specs are meant for, plus backlighting, ugh. Go to TritonLabs (http://www.tritonlabs.com) for a more elegant backlighting mod.
An led array that screws into regular fixtures. A little pricey at US$59.95, but it it never burns out, the your total cost would be 59.95/infinity, or is my math wrong?;)
I figure The Scorpion King at least would be considered a "Summer" Blockbuster, even with it's April release. What's the matter? Can't Smell What the Rock is Cooking?
*Note: Author is extremely sorry for using such a tired catchphrase from an overhyped professioanl wrestler.

You're going to live to at least 23...

I have been using FreeRip for about a year, with no problems whatsoever. Even has CDDB supports, and can rip to wav's and Ogg as well. Enjoy!
