I do too. I'd had loved to see that platform develop. It could've been much better than what we have now

Yup, and that's why we now have mobile apps which weigh in the hundreds of MB and are dog slow. All that on devices that run on a battery. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
I know it's all about ease and time of development but the waste of space and CPU time is gigantic

  4. When I was a kid one of my teachers complained that most people just bought and read the sports papers and ignored the "serious" ones.
Most people just want to be entertained, they also care much more about, as you say, "trivial issues" than serious stuff than politics, ecology, etc.
It may be sad but it's just not a geek thing, everyone is the same

  5. Totally agree with you that current trends in UI design are crap.
Who decided to use monochrome icons? Yes, it looks nice to have few colors but IMO it makes harder to tell them apart and an icon should be, more than anything, easy and fast to identify. This is a horrible case of putting form over function

It seems in modern computing devices we must accept ads no matter what. They don't even have an ad free Windows 10 version (maybe the enterprise one?) even if you're willing to pay for it.
I just want the control of my devices back (like it was until Windows 7)

  16. They don't care because Windows on desktops is still very strong and will have tons of users regardless of whatever stupidities they may inflict upon it

  17. I don't mind much they being the default since you can change it easily but what I'd really like is being able to uninstall everything Google from my Android smartphone.
