I mainly agree with you but when the hardware prevents you from getting games coming out on other systems it IS then important because it's limiting what you can play.
Yup, and that's why we now have mobile apps which weigh in the hundreds of MB and are dog slow. All that on devices that run on a battery. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
I know it's all about ease and time of development but the waste of space and CPU time is gigantic
When I was a kid one of my teachers complained that most people just bought and read the sports papers and ignored the "serious" ones.
Most people just want to be entertained, they also care much more about, as you say, "trivial issues" than serious stuff than politics, ecology, etc.
It may be sad but it's just not a geek thing, everyone is the same
Totally agree with you that current trends in UI design are crap.
Who decided to use monochrome icons? Yes, it looks nice to have few colors but IMO it makes harder to tell them apart and an icon should be, more than anything, easy and fast to identify. This is a horrible case of putting form over function
You can continue to use them unless they break. My s4 lasted only 2 years before it stopped reading the SIM. My s2 before that lasted 3,5 years which is not half bad. But if the hardware lasted a bit more I could see myself using a smartphone for at least 5 years.
I completely agree with your comment but sadly 3 is not happening. They've said they don't want addons to modify the UI much so some things that current add ons do won't just be possible with WebExtensions.
I just don't how this can end well for Firefox.
Is it me or are the majority of people who need to have the latest iPhone now! women?
They don't care whether it has any improvements or if it's actually better than anything from other companies they just want the cool thing from the cool company
How can you prove a company systematically discriminated against a certain group of people? Are a few testimonies enough? Wouldn't those only prove that specific people was discriminated against?
I don't like discrimination but also don't like people who play victim
Came to say this. It's really nice that they're finding uses for old devices but how about releasing the software and instructions so that everyone can do that?
Is the politically correct definition of "people of color" in the US everyone who's not white?
I find it a bit funny since there're many asians who have pale skin too.
Came to say exactly this.
It seems in modern computing devices we must accept ads no matter what. They don't even have an ad free Windows 10 version (maybe the enterprise one?) even if you're willing to pay for it.
I just want the control of my devices back (like it was until Windows 7)
They don't care because Windows on desktops is still very strong and will have tons of users regardless of whatever stupidities they may inflict upon it
I don't mind much they being the default since you can change it easily but what I'd really like is being able to uninstall everything Google from my Android smartphone. Yes, I know it sounds a bit strange since pushing Google's services is the only reason of Android's existence but I wouldn't mind paying for a license (like you do with Windows on a PC)
Exactly. PCs future lies in those two segments yet they try to force a touch UI on everyone. Not to mention the spying and all the other crap they put in Windows 10
Apart from innovation you need a number of competitors to keep them honest.
Also there's the inconvenient fact that Google earns money by getting to know the highest number of details about you.
It'd also be nice if there was a mobile OS where the user was in control (basically have root permissions)
It's also ridiculous that smartphones being pretty powerful computers you can't run traditional desktop apps when in a dock or something
If they want Edge usage to grow and it ever being popular they had to do this since their mobile OS totally floundered.
I wish they also had hard competition on the desktop, maybe then they would have to reverse course on some of the stupid things they did with Windows 10.
I don't know. Firefox, with all its cred on desktop computers has pretty low marketshare on Android so, if they can't even make a good dent on mobile I don't know how Microsoft could. And, differently to desktops, they don't have a dominant OS on mobile to spam people with to use Edge.
I haven't used one but having only one indicator for the driver that's just a giant touch screen in the middle of the dashboard looks like a pain in the ass in usability
I do too. I'd had loved to see that platform develop. It could've been much better than what we have now

How many people use something else than the official app or website? I can't imagine they're a huge percentage of users
A piece of text of 280 characters takes longer to process than a picture regardless of its size

If they modify their AI code with politics it'll be useless at solving real world problems

Sad but true. Gee! Just give me the option to use the Windows 7 UI
Exactly. PCs future lies in those two segments yet they try to force a touch UI on everyone. Not to mention the spying and all the other crap they put in Windows 10

Yeah, meego could've been so nice. It's a pity Microsoft trojaned Stephen Elop into Nokia and then he forced them to abandon it
The real reason is pushing everyone to use the touchy apps.
I still think it's asinine to force such UIs on mouse users
