"Must have hit a sore spot, since you have basically resorted to name calling."
The only possible name calling I can see in my post is "Java Developer" and that's taken directly from the sig so I don't think it's terribly offensive.
"Who in the hell things that a SQL -based server is the best solution for a database used by one or two people with less than a 1000 records?"
The only problem with this is that a few years later this database which would only ever have 1000 records and two users now has 50000 records and 15 users and you find you've painted yourself into a corner.
I've seen people do the same thing over and over again.
Access is Ok for writing a front end to a database or prototyping.

"Ask me about freelance Java consulting."
Perhaps you could re-implement X in Java. That would speed it up.
"Once again, the enthusiast's computer will be larger than a refrigerator!
Well, sure, the Frinkiac-7 looks impressive, don't touch it! But I predict that within 100 years computers will be twice as powerful, 10,000 times larger, and so expensive that only the five richest kings of Europe will own them.
"How much do you have to dislike someone to give them a free OS for xmas?
Worse than that he's including a Christmas card. A piece of card for fucks sake! What are they going to do with that prop up a wonky table!
Congratulations on being the hundredth person to rant about the CD being given as a present when the question and all commonsense clearly indicate otherwise.
"By the way, since the XBox 2 will use the PowerPC G5, it shouldn't be that difficult to port future XBox games to the Power Mac G5 and the iMac, both of which are 64-bit now."
My Cisco PIX firewall runs an Intel Pentium, I think porting PC games to it would be still be fairly tricky. Anyone want to lend a hand showing me how to overclock a serial port?

I've got a bag full of thinnet coax you can have, complete with T pieces, you might have to find your own terminators though.
It wasn't modded down, it started at -1, presumably due to bad karma earned in previous posts. Incidentally, when you talk about "The members of this site", there are around eight hundred thousand of them, if you can find a group of that size who all think the same way then I'm impressed.
"I predict Microsoft will make it's prediction that Windows will be crippled w/o the player come true by putting something into the software that annoys the end users."
Perhaps it's because Gentoo users have this bizarre obsession with changing the topic of any conversation on any random subject such as KDE for example, into a Gentoo love fest?
Inkjet ink has got to be one of the biggest scams of recent times. No wonder spammers seem so enamored with it.
Just wait till tomorrow when they post the pics of Steve Ballmer reclining over a sports car wearing a bikini.
Excuse me while I go cleanse my brain with bleach and a wire brush.

My laptop is linux only too, so I guess I have to thank either you or the other guy for writing all the drivers that make it work flawlessly.

Name ten, or you fail it.
That's not so long ago, yesterday infact.

Thats right. The Nintendo Corporation is in fact run from a small garden shed in Kyoto by some guy named Shigeru Miyamoto.

No you dont.

Using sarcasm in text. That's a really good idea.

Heh.
"Linus has predicted doom and gloom for Hurd since he first wrote Linux. It has yet to happen"
So what you're saying is Hurd is dead, but it's not going to get any deader?

Annoying software from Microsoft? Inconceivable!!
With apologies to Fezzik.

I think you mean uninvaluable.
"If I want to go outdoors, I sure as hell don't want to be near any electronics."
I don't think they plan on making them compulsory.
