But with AI you only have to experience something with one instance of the AI and it can then be shared between all instances. Of course this is only in theory since noone has implemented it yet. But doing that with a book is not possible.

The main graphics coder at my job recommends A trip through the Graphics Pipeline 2011 for everyone that wants to do something graphics related today. (Actually he says it's a must read for all programmers, but I think that's a bit strong...)
It's a bit windows-centric, but I think most of it translates to OpenGL since it's focused on what the hardware of today can do.
The problem with this way of seeing it is that if cause/effect works completely on scientific grounds and god doesn't interfere, then god becomes completely irrelevant and miracles don't happen. If miracles don't happen then the bible (or any other holy text) is full of lies, how do we even know that god exists if he just set the universe up and left it to it's own devices?
On the other hand, if the bible tells the truth and god interferes, miracles happen, then science isn't really all that useful since we can't trust it.
That is, to me, if I have two awesome games, and one is 10 hours and the other is 20 hours I will buy the shorter one. Just because it is more likely that I will get to see the whole story. If you want more content, flesh it out with optional stuff like sidemissions or different gamemodes.
There's an all-or-nothing switch - you can't throttle it or set limits, and of course you can't use your own torrent client to download it.
There should be no "of course" in that sentence, I used to be able to download the patches with my client of choice. The torrents were posted on wowwiki (probably not from an official source though). I haven't played the game for some time, so it might not be possible any more.

Basically it allows IP-owners to demand the logs from ISPs, without talking to the police/court, and makes it illegal to download copyrighted material (as opposed to giving it to someone else).
I'm not sure if you're joking or not, but I'm pretty sure that the wiimote isn't even close to being balanced like any real sword (possibly a lightsaber ^^).
To have a control scheme that let's you do "real" sword-fighting (or sword-drawing for that matter) is probably not a good idea. What you can do is get closer than with a gamepad, which doesn't really say much, but it would still be a game kind of control scheme.
I don't know if anyone was confused by the abbreviation, but anyway, DVR seems to be Digital Video Recorder. Maybe it's just because I'm from sweden. Anyway, hope it helps someone.

And if you didn't read the original article I recommend reading it too, even if I disagree with Eberts conclusions it has some interesting aspects on what makes art(at least to me who is an art noob).
Gear doesn't matter much when levelling up, true, I never cared except maybe buying a weapon from ah at lvl 10. But once you hit the max level it sure do make a difference. My main is a lvl 70 warrior and I wouldn't be able to play many instances if I had lvl 55-60 equipment unless it was the absolute best lvl 60 stuff (and that of course means putting a lot of work/money into getting it). Otoh I've never felt the need to buy gold, all the items that you can buy for gold is often easily replaced by quest rewards and drops.
For real hardcore gamers the problem is more that of repairs and consumables though rather than gear. I have a friend that used to play in Nihilum and he had to grind for pots and such about all the time he wasn't raiding.
The root of the problem is a bit different though. I personally don't want to keep up with the joneses, I want to keep up with my friends so that I can play with them at all. Since most mmog games (all?) reward effort in some way and also allow trading you easily get a situation where you have to play about the same amount as your friends, give each other stuff or buy it for RL money if you want to play together. This of course only handles the tradable part of the game, but that was what we were discussing, right?
