Exactly. Multiplayer can be awesome if you have a group of gamer friends, but I'd rather watch Star Trek V over and over than play an RTS or FPS with the random assholes you meet online.
So... yeah, a good multiplayer function is nice, but it shouldn't be the focus.
you posted anonymously, so I doubt you'll read this, but whatever.
what about my journal entry on mod-bombing? it seemed stupid to me that someone would bother to do that, so i said so. *shrug*
my foes list 'policy' (if you can even call it that) has cooled since i posted that last year.. mainly because i filled up the list and can't add any more.;) is/was it silly? maybe. but who cares? it's slashdot. if someone takes 'foes' seriously, it's their problem.
the jab at the NYT had nothing to do with their liberalism, mythological or otherwise. think jayson blair, etc.
i vote for the crack, myself. of course, i don't see any flamebait mod on the original post anyway, so whatever.
i sense an off-topic mod coming, and i probably deserve it for responding to an AC.
I never think that Penny Arcade comics are funny, but often still laugh at User Friendly.
This pretty much renders your opinions on comedy invalid, doesn't it?
Yeah, you're right about that. While I like PA a lot, I can see how not everyone would find it funny. But there's no excuse for thinking UF is even remotely humorous.
Its been hard enough to get tech contract in the US, now this!
I would bet the reason it's been hard for you to "get tech contract" is because your thoughts are about as organized as my first BASIC programs, and you type like a drunken lemur. I sure as hell wouldn't hire you.
Hmm.. I've gotten the errors in different locations (work and home), on different computers.. if other people aren't having problems, the common factor is my account, I guess. Hope there's nothing wrong with it, since I've been using it for all my non-work email for almost a year. (I back stuff up locally, too, but I still don't want to have problems with it!)
I haven't been able to consistantly get into Gmail the past couple days... keep getting server errors. How about fixing current problems before adding new features?
(yes, I know, probably not the same people working on new features as on stability, etc... I'm just saying..)
Multiplayer is only fun if you know a bunch of other people who have the same game, want to play, etc. (And admittedly, some games are definitely awesome if you have a group of gamer friends.)
Sure you could play online with random people, but frankly, as a group, people online are stupid assholes.
That's supposedly why they renamed T'Pau to T'Pol.
I remember reading that they would have had to pay royalties to the writer of the original episode in order to use the same character. Same reason that the pilot on Voyager was renamed to "Tom Paris", even though it was the same character played by the same actor from a TNG episode.
correcting them over MB or mb is just plain irritating.
So you don't see any difference between a megabyte and a millibit?
Okay, yeah, you can't really divide bits into anything. In fact, milli- has no application as far as data storage goes. So mega-, at least, can be safely assumed.
But megabits are sometimes used, so making a distinction between Mb and MB is neccessary.

I don't see how they expect us to download full games over a 33.6k modem.
Oh, whoops...we were talking about Prey, so I thought it was 1997 for a minute there.
No, I'm sorry but Super Mario is good for a brief spurt of nostalgia... Anybody that would sit down now and play for hours has a loose grip on "fun".
I don't see how you could be nostalgic for Mario when you're obviously about 12 years old...
That's "Baltimore City" as opposed to "Baltimore County". They're not the same thing.
they only need to have their own cereal!
Wind-O's?
Actually, wouldn't it be the confused who are using allofmp3? I.e., those who think it's somehow legal?
...my computer can make toast? Really?
Just set your bread on top of a Pentium 4, you'll be all set within seconds.

the New York Times published a "study" that purported to announce two social scientists working for the U of O(hio)
I think the first clue that it was fake is that there is no "University of Ohio".
(Well, maybe the second... the *first* clue is that it's in the NYT... *rimshot*)
My impression is that most of us run Linux or OS X for our desktop/server systems
My server runs FreeBSD, you insensitive clod!
I never finished Stationfall... I think I have it somewhere, I should try it again sometime.
I'm with you on Floyd in Planetfall though. Still my favorite text adventure, maybe my favorite adventure game of any style.
This is just about the most culturally blind, obviously offensive, most idiotic thing I have ever seen on the Internets.
You must be new here.

It's like "Digital Rights Management". These things are always named the opposite of what they really are.

Give me a good single player game any day.
damn mindworms.
Daylight Savings Time is like pulling your bedsheet up because your chest is cold. Now your feet are cold.
I prefer the analogy "like cutting off your head and standing on it to become taller."
The use of RFID chips in passports is a bad idea
I'm glad I have Slashdot so I know what opinions to have! Linux good! RFID baaaaaad!
I'd be looking for more blood than Roy Disney at a Michael Eisner look-alike contest.
roffle, genius analogy.
He is using "grammar check" as a noun, the same way people use "spell check".
Also, "begs the question" doesn't mean that.
When complaining about grammar, you should be careful that your own post is above reproach.
