    Exactly. Multiplayer can be awesome if you have a group of gamer friends, but I'd rather watch Star Trek V over and over than play an RTS or FPS with the random assholes you meet online.

    So... yeah, a good multiplayer function is nice, but it shouldn't be the focus.

    No, I'm sorry but Super Mario is good for a brief spurt of nostalgia... Anybody that would sit down now and play for hours has a loose grip on "fun".

    I don't see how you could be nostalgic for Mario when you're obviously about 12 years old...

    what about my journal entry on mod-bombing? it seemed stupid to me that someone would bother to do that, so i said so. *shrug*

    my foes list 'policy' (if you can even call it that) has cooled since i posted that last year.. mainly because i filled up the list and can't add any more. ;) is/was it silly? maybe. but who cares? it's slashdot. if someone takes 'foes' seriously, it's their problem.

    the jab at the NYT had nothing to do with their liberalism, mythological or otherwise. think jayson blair, etc.

    i vote for the crack, myself. of course, i don't see any flamebait mod on the original post anyway, so whatever.

    i sense an off-topic mod coming, and i probably deserve it for responding to an AC.

    the New York Times published a "study" that purported to announce two social scientists working for the U of O(hio)

    I think the first clue that it was fake is that there is no "University of Ohio".

    (Well, maybe the second... the *first* clue is that it's in the NYT... *rimshot*)

    I'm with you on Floyd in Planetfall though. Still my favorite text adventure, maybe my favorite adventure game of any style.

    I never think that Penny Arcade comics are funny, but often still laugh at User Friendly.

    This pretty much renders your opinions on comedy invalid, doesn't it?


    Yeah, you're right about that. While I like PA a lot, I can see how not everyone would find it funny. But there's no excuse for thinking UF is even remotely humorous.

    Hmm.. I've gotten the errors in different locations (work and home), on different computers.. if other people aren't having problems, the common factor is my account, I guess. Hope there's nothing wrong with it, since I've been using it for all my non-work email for almost a year. (I back stuff up locally, too, but I still don't want to have problems with it!)

    I haven't been able to consistantly get into Gmail the past couple days... keep getting server errors. How about fixing current problems before adding new features?

    (yes, I know, probably not the same people working on new features as on stability, etc... I'm just saying..)

    Multiplayer is only fun if you know a bunch of other people who have the same game, want to play, etc. (And admittedly, some games are definitely awesome if you have a group of gamer friends.)

    Sure you could play online with random people, but frankly, as a group, people online are stupid assholes.

    Give me a good single player game any day.

    He is using "grammar check" as a noun, the same way people use "spell check".

    Also, "begs the question" doesn't mean that.

    When complaining about grammar, you should be careful that your own post is above reproach.

    That's supposedly why they renamed T'Pau to T'Pol.

    I remember reading that they would have had to pay royalties to the writer of the original episode in order to use the same character. Same reason that the pilot on Voyager was renamed to "Tom Paris", even though it was the same character played by the same actor from a TNG episode.

    correcting them over MB or mb is just plain irritating.

    So you don't see any difference between a megabyte and a millibit?

    Okay, yeah, you can't really divide bits into anything. In fact, milli- has no application as far as data storage goes. So mega-, at least, can be safely assumed.

    But megabits are sometimes used, so making a distinction between Mb and MB is neccessary.
