The menus almost always start on the function you want to access, or it's one up/down away. Buttons act consistently (they don't have different modes).

I'd say it was the French revolution which led to the rise of secularism. This was purely for political reasons. The church sided with the monarchy and they became an enemy of the revolutionaries. In the republic the Catholic church was marginalised and the rhetoric and ideas became anti-religious. The French revolution had a huge impact on "Western" thought.

Back on the galaxy definition issue, having a standard definition will improve science. With a common definition you could pick up any paper and read the word galaxy and know exactly what the author is talking about. At present you're just guessing what they mean by the term if it isn't defined in the paper. Worse still is if you're reading two different papers and they define galaxy differently. How do you then compare their results?

The Geni Coefficient is increasing in the USA and has been since the 1970s. The poor aren't getting any wealthier but the rich certainly are.

Also there are plenty of stable, Western democracies which have much lower Gini Coefficients and therefore less of a gap between rich and poor. Some of these have bad economies but most don't. What seems to work best is a blend of a mostly capitalist system with some some socialism.

Banned games will soon be a thing of the past in Australia. An R 18+ rating is almost certain to come in later this year. The only reason games were banned was because there wasn't an 18+ category and excessive sex or violence didn't fit the previous highest category of 15+.

The lack of the 18+ category isn't a slippery slope. We started without the category when the ratings system was extended to cover computer games. If anything freedoms are increasing with what games you play, not shrinking.

You know it's not the government as in elected representatives and senators that wrote this document. "The Government" in TFS/TFA is a group of unelected public servants who authored it and will be implementing it. If you representative even gives you an answer it will be along the lines of don't care because it wasn't their decision and doesn't affect them or you.

The real issue is rule of law. Why can a bureaucrat overrule what a judge says? Saying "it's a recommendation" is semantics and misses the point. Judges should be the ones making justice related decisions, such as type of imprisonment. Faceless office drones shouldn't be able to reverse these because they think they know better.
