I have been through three "server consolidation" projects in the last 13 years. Every time the IT shop moves servers from the wild into data centers, a whole new crop springs up in wild.
Good policy and great enforcement are the keys to a successful consolidation, but with the do more with less mentality of most IT shops today the old just becomes the new again.

Maybe the Mayans were right about 2012.
and the lack of sidewalks, staircases (you must have been in an office building where people take the elevator from the 8th to the 9th floor)
show me a single building in the US with an elevator that doesn't have a staircase.
People take the elevator because they are lazy, not because they do not have another means.
A new can of worms is about to open. What will the burden of proof be for an ISP? It is very likely that it will be in their best interest to limit the amount of P2P filesharing whether it is legal or not. This seems like a win for the RIAA.
What recourse will a cut off user have? If they signed a year contract with an ISP will they be required to pay a penalty because they were cut off?
The judicial system is flawed, but what system will innocent people have if ISP's decide to cooperate whole-heartedly with the RIAA.
Its sole purpose is to send a "see, WE REALLY CARE" message from some lame-ass legislators to the Oprah crowd. You may be right, but unfortunately it will take some time before we see the unintended consequences of this law. That is where it will really bite us in the ass.
A lot of people have my SSN.
FTA:
Security experts say complaints about the company reinforce the time-honored wisdom of keeping your Social Security number secret. I dont know who came up with this "time honored" shit, but back in the early 80's - late 90's I spent traveling the world on the US taxpayers dime with the USMC. During that time I had quite a bit of pen pals. Upon entering boot camp, drill instructors used to instruct marines that their SSN was to be placed on the envelope of every letter to aid in the correct routing of mail.
I never felt that my SSN could compromise my life until well into the 90's. There are serious problems with the way credit is handled in this country and keeping a 9 digit number secret is not going to solve any of them.
I lived in Finland for 2.5 years and let me tell you they do a hell of a lot better job. You do not get CC adverts in the mail, you have to go to a bank to apply for a CC. Once you are approved for the CC, you need to go back to the bank to pick it up after presenting adequate ID.
When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. Now the brits are going to see that so many peoples patterns are actually part of a larger criminal conspiracy.
I was lucky enough in 1991 to be in Stockholm while Sweden's non existent army were doing exercises in downtime Stockholm complete with tanks, armored personnel carriers, heavy weapons and the like. They may not have a conventional army, but they by no means lack the capability to defend themselves.
You are of course assuming that you and your defense team will have unrestricted access to the same assets that the FBI has and that they are willing to go "the extra mile" to help clear your good name. Unfortunately for you, law enforcement in general has not set so much precedent in the past by helping anyone accused get off.
This functionality will be included in a future release of Firefox.
Dev machines are only fine under developers desks until they go production, and that usually triggers yet another mass server consolidation.

No, they just had the good porn.
Shhh! you are not allowed to say it!
It doesn't matter how long MS waited. They will just "extend" the standard and call all other implementations broken.
I am on my fourth 360. I do not expect it to last another six months!
We round up to one!

Call me simple, but maybe we just need to let those 'secrets' go so the public's faith can be restored.
Does the public actually give a shit though?
Our platoon would be polishing (with rifle butts) some of our Marines following this rule.
Only one thing will fix our broken democracy at this point -- revolution.
Now that Obama is in office the world thinks that the revolution has been won.

Virtualization is probably the greatest training technologies ever created, especially for the Network Administrator and Server Administrator.
As long as I can carry a weapon to defend myself.
I miss Calvin and Hobbes!
Not everyone, just most. Or just plain clueless!
