Powerpoint presentations are excellent when they're pulled off correctly. The fault lies not in the Powerpoint presentation, but in the presenter. What I've noticed is that instead of using Powerpoint slideshows as a tool to enhance their presentations, they've instead used Powerpoint slideshows in place of their presentations. The only reason most Powerpoint-based presentations are boring is because people just put up their information on bullet points, then read off the bullet points one by one. Powerpoint is a useful business tool, as long as it's used to enhance and not replace.
Because no one takes the ESRB ratings seriously. We have to remember that/. is not the general community. There are a lot of people out there, especially parents, who look at the rating of a game. A few years ago, when I was a young teenager (13ish), my mother was rather hesitant about getting T-rated games. She definitely wouldn't get me an M rated game, and I'm sure she wasn't the only mother who thought that way. Maybe we don't take ratings seriously. Maybe teenagers don't take ratings seriously. But there are plenty of people out there who do take them seriously.
It's amazing what kind of characters you can find on the "Character & Timecode Bazaar" forum on EVE. You can buy characters with the in-game currency (though sometimes for insanely high amounts) and therefore put you up with those people who started the game 3 years before you.
Why is this even news, anyway? Putting it up on/. is just a way to get trolls coming in saying "x is better" or "y is better". Just because more people like OoT more than they like, say, Half-Life 2 doesn't make it the best game ever. I honestly disliked Ocarina of Time. I enjoyed Link to the Past more. But my opinion shouldn't matter towards the "best game ever". Other people may agree that OoT is the best game ever, however, that's their opinion. There will never be unanimous agreement on what the best game ever is.
I didn't realize it was so hard to make a trip to get a Mars Bar. I just go to the convenience store, pick one up off the shelf, then go to the register and pay my 79 cents. Then I eat it. What's so difficult about getting a Mars?
But a large number of spyware infectees do give consent to the spyware without realizing it (such as legalese in the EULA). It's just like signing a contract without reading it. It isn't illegal "breaking and entering" into a computer because the person agreed to it. Now, I'm not very familiar with this company, nor am I familiar with law, so correct me if I'm wrong here.
Actually, "hooker sex" isn't allowed here in Vegas. So you won't get to hear it.
You still get to hear the gambling stories and obnoxious casinos, though.
It should be as obvious as the color of the sky. Are you sure? It's quite obvious to me the sky is magenta. Not many seem to agree though. They keep saying it's blue.
How about a nice game of Ms. Pac-Man?
Watch out wireless, and even 100Mbps ethernet! Here comes speeds faster than even you two can handle!
Don't say that! You'll give them ideas!

"idk, my BFF Linux?"
20xx is the year of the Linux desktop?
You obviously haven't been to the McDonalds in my neighborhood.
And after that, they'll patent Slashdot moderation...+5 Insightful now belongs in the hands of IBM!
Multi-monitor? I'll fit that resolution on my single 17" CRT monitor! ...I just won't be able to see anything.
Oh, good, now I can finally win The Game.
One word per definition
Haiku would be dull.

"People-ready Business"? What happened to "Developers developers developers"?

I have a feeling you meant "Inversely proportional", but I'll let it slide this time.
Ya know, IANAL, but...
Microsoft's making cars and suing other car makers now? How did they pass the safety test? I'm sure they would crash often...

Similarly, they'd never improve Windows if it wasn't for Mac OS X/i> If you call Vista an improvement, that is.
I read that as "More congressmen = less oxygen."
