What is extra ironic about the Jet Grind Radio connection is that SEGA help a graffiti contest to celebrate the release of the game here is San Francisco. The Mayor flipped out at them and told them to stop promoting graffiti. Now Sony comes along and does this and the city is completely quiet.

    Talk about a double standard.

If you prefer the boring grey of a hopeless world, fine, be that way. But to deny the color of art in oppressive environments is a useless battle. Urban art will be there, and many, people who actually live there, support the art.

Once you live in a neighborhood that has significant amounts of vandalism, you really do come to appreciate graffiti artists; the good ones, at least. There is such a huge difference between some guy spray painting his name on a wall and someone actually taking a little time and making a nice, spray-painted mural. Also, the more real graffiti art there is the less tagging you see around.

P.S. I have never attended art school.

I have, in fact, read quite a bit of history; and have still never seen it refered to as America. Sometimes "The Americas". This included geography classes, at a collegiate level nonetheless. It seems from the article that english speaking people are generally tought that there are two continents in America.

On another note. I think the 6 continent Eurasia naming convention is the most to my liking; I always have wondered why they did not count as the same continent.

  19. Particulate Matter as opposed to greenhouse gasses on Humanity Responsible For Current Climate Change · · Score: 1

IANAClimatologist, but the main reason for the temperature drop would likely have been because of an increase in particulate matter, little itty bitty particles such as coal dust and the like, that was more common during that time period. Particulate matter had been the focus of initial anti-pollution campaigns because it was the most obvious pollutant. What was happening was that the particulate matter blocked, and still does to some extent, the full energy of the sun, thus decreasing the total energy entering the system and decreasing the temperature.

The US gets 53% of our energy from coal plants and 15% from natural gas; both of which are carbon producers.

China currently gets aproximately 10-12% of their power from hydro-electric, and is aassumably going to increase that once the three gorges damn goes online. Also note in the above link that types of energy production other than hydrocarbons, "thermal" in the link, are increasing at a greater rate.
