Seriously, does anyone think that this really has anything to do with illegal immigration? There are plenty of laws on the books to stop them from coming in and to deport them, however there is a severe lack of Federal authorities using those laws. This has everything to do with getting people used to being searched illegally.
Many times local police will pick up an illegal immigrant for drunk driving or another offense, they'll call the feds, and the feds will do nothing.
A year ago in MN a woman ran into a school bus, killing 3. It turned out she was here illegally and had been arrested before. The local police called INS (during the first arrest) and they wouldn't do anything about it.
I have never played through much of Half-Life, but I've spent countless hours playing Day of Defeat and Counter Strike.
The same goes for Warcraft 3. I haven't even touched the single-player part of the game and just did various mods like DoTA or some form of Tower Wars.
This also won't stop people working for government agencies to simply sell the information.
It is very doubtful that so many people happen to lose laptops or other materials. How easy is it to sell a laptop and claim you lost it or that it was stolen? When do you ever hear about these "lost" laptops with a lot of personal data being returned? Never.
The best solution would be to encrypt the files and don't trust the low level employee's with the key.
There are plenty of other reasons why Gore lost. Blaming voting for a third party candidate is pretty short-sided. Why not blame the media for not giving enough TV time to Pat Buchanan who would have taken votes away from Bush?
Bush ran on a completely different platform than what he actually did while in office. How do you know that Gore wouldn't have done the same thing?
If Bush would have implemented a lot of what he talked about when he campaigned we wouldn't be in the situation we are now. However, you can say that about almost every President elected in the last century.
