Operated by remote control, the robot spotlights trespassers on property down the street from his bar, O'Terrill's. Using a walkie-talkie, Terrill belts out through the robot's loudspeaker, 'That's private property. You guys need to get out of here.'" This is not a robot.
I've seen this at boing boing and here and no one changed the headline to remote controlled water hose with a speaker. Robots need to have a computer in them or at least some circuits, so they can be programmed. Also when those drug dealers get an idea that the fat guy with the remote control is the guy behind the barbecue on wheels, I imagine a few bullets will fly his way.

It's not the kids, not the teachers, not the public, its the security camera company. And its not only a contract to put the cameras in schools, they are sprouting up at many corners of the city, to make more revenue since the city is pretty much broke, yet they spend money in this camera system. So far this system gave me two tickets for "moving violations" that a cop would have not cared about. The damage? 100 dollars each. Some one is making sure to get a nice contract to this company.

It helps since he wanted my computer all the time (just to push buttons), also it will play his dvd's as well!, its teaching him coordination with the mouse and also the letters and numbers on the keyboard. 8. If the dell was made of regular components on Is the Dell XPS One Better than the Apple iMac? · · Score: 1

If the components inside were the same you find in a regular box, things that you can replace just like any desktop, then Dell is in the right track. If your Imac has a problem you go to apple and pray they can fix it, that is if you got apple care, if not good luck on ebay. If dell makes a machine that can take little space and look good, on top of being able to replace any part of it (including the flat screen), at your local Microcenter, Tigerdirect, or Fry's, then you got something there. Who cares what OS they have on them when you buy them, they both can take linux!

Since then he learned how to turn it on (i have to put in the user and password), with KDE he can find his favorite games and tuxpaint and such, its hard to get him off of it, he also watches his movies there which I ripped for him. Lots of good games for toddlers in Debian, he has not tried the internet yet and am glad. I also have a mac osx partition in this machine, he usually tells me that he don't like that and to turn "his computer" on instead.

It just makes sense. But maybe am too optimist.

  18. Re:Why the whole fuss? on Diebold Rebrands What No One Wants · · Score: 1

The reason the U.S.A. changed from paper voting to electronic voting (without paper trail), was one of logistics, you see, when you have a computer do the work its easier to rig and corrupt (and cheaper) the election. Having people do the work is expensive, since you have to pay off too much money so they keep quiet about the cheating, (or keep them scared for life if they don't want the money). So having machines do the cheating you only have to pay off the developers and a few key people that will do the actual rigging of the votes. Its also faster in the delivery of fake results.

I'm an average user with just the minimal knowledge to do things and set up systems, when i don't know how to do things I use google, go to forums etc.., I believe that if you are going to use a particular system be it windows, linux or mac, there is the need to learn to use it, not just turn on the computer and everything will work automatically, for the most part americans like their remote controls, but computers are not televisions, so please take the time to learn how to use what ever system you want to use, including how to install codecs, the illegality part of some of them, well, its an other issue.
