The early Christians had the right idea, meeting in secret in caves. If only we could get the contemporary ones to follow their lead. This is precisely why we need at least one coliseum in every state! Forget football, I want zealot blood! It'd be an absolutely great solution to crime in general, not just religious stupidity. Prison crowding could be avoided and taxes would even go down as the coliseums would bring in profits from all of the tickets sold. I just don't wan to see any starved lions of knights fighting bears. We need to keep the animal cruelty out of it all.

    Nah.

Try using a "no cd crack" instead. They've existed for nearly a decade and I've used them on every single one of my games that try to force you to put (and keep!) the disc in even though it's not accessing anything off of it. Copy protection via a present disc is not only a complete hassle, it's also dangerous. The more you move a disc around (from case to tray and back again), the more likely it is to acquire scratches and become unplayable in the future.

Online distribution (such as Steam) is just as annoying. Why should I have to run an external program that bogs down my CPU and bandwidth just to play a game? I shouldn't. Simple CD Key checks are good enough for online play, and no such protection at all is best for singleplayer. I'm not told to turn off any virtual drives I may have when trying to watch a movie on DVD in my computer. Game developers need to get over themselves.

I could do without the "earned path to immigration" crap and the small push for gun control, but that's about all democrats at this point. Outside of that however, the guy is great. Sadly, the media did a great job of outright ignoring him. And when not ignoring him, they were taking his comments out of context for the express purpose of making him look like a lune. Incidentally, a lot of people will hold up the "easy-to-pirate" angle as the single major contributor to the Dreamcast's demise, but most of the more insightful and interesting post-mortems I've read had attributed it to a combination of the long-running hype of the as-yet-unreleased PS2 ("why buy a Sega when the PS2 will be so much better when it comes out?") and a very fumbled marketing effort on Sega's part. Agreed. Though I think Sega of America was doing a pretty darn good job at marketing overall. Sony took an overtly typical approach to it all however and continuously lied about their product (advertised?) to make it seem better. It was not and still isn't by a long shot. This, coupled with Sony's obvious success in the past generation, deterred what probably would have been many sales for Sega.

Oh, and The Fountain! How did I miss that one? That was, actually, one of the better films I've seen in quite a while. Darren Aronofsky continues to impress me with his efforts. I just wish I could persuade more people to watch it. Pan's Labyrinth came out about that time as well, which I also can't persuade anyone to borrow because they "don't want to think". One because of subtitles and the other because of content. People watch films to turn on, tune off, and drop out.

Of course, I'd suggest the LSD before most films. At least something profound might happen then. ;)
