It may be true that the lakes were pretty disgusting in the past, but they have recently (within the last decade or two?) been cleaned up quite a bit...
and I'm on board! Until then, it doesn't really matter, now does it? Though to be perfectly fair, I don't want to see any Sony format win, so hopefully this sale will do something to secure the future... You know, assuming either of these are even still relevant in the future once those holographic projectors come out.
[...]there's simply no way for me to get the full experience out of SSB without online. You're obviously unaware of what the "full experience" is then. It's not simply playing against other humans, it's playing against other humans in the same room. The series has always been a party game, and party games are not fun when you can't see and hear the expressions of your opponents are you pull off a powerful smash attack. In the end, online capabilities are mostly just a nice feature to list on the back of the box. It's like that with any game. No game is better online than with friends, and certainly not to the point of being a "deal breaker".
AnyDVD combined with CloneDVD2 is by far the easiest way I've yet found. AnyDVD decrypts while CloneDVD2 rips, compresses (if you don't want to use duel layer) and burns. All just a few clicks. You can copy the entire disc or select just the tracks that matter. I love being able to cut out the menu and all of the stupid extra "features" if nothing else. Say goodbye to impassable previews and FBI warning before the film as well! I'm pretty sure that it slices, dices and is self cleaning also... But I could be thinking of something else.
I just recently played through Fable: The Lost Chapters on my PC and thought that it was a rather good game. I know it received a lot of bad press when it was released for failing to live up to the hype. There were really only a few big problems I had with it. These included levels that were too linear and lacked a real sense of exploration, your actions not having as big of an impact on the world as it seems it could have, and the super thick plot that takes over the quaint and entertaining story once you decided to go after the main villain toward the end. The sequel does seem to be addressing these gripes more or less.
I use AnyDVD to decrypt (as well as knock at previews, FBI warnings, etc) and CloneDVD2 to rip, compress, and burn. It's a lot more streamlined than most other software I've tried and definitely has not let me down yet. I doubt my combination of choice is quite as powerful as some you could find, but it doesn't present as much of a hassle as quite a few I've seen and that's what matters to me at least.
More so, Wal-Mart sells tons of unrated DVDs. Manhunt 2 just needs to be switched over to the PC and sold online. That would solve all issues, save for the lack of Wii controls. Which is a shame since I really wanted to use such a murder simulator to train myself to shoot up a school or something...
Most games are already too short and too easy. While I'm not as "hardcore" as I once was, I still like to be able to play a game for at least forty hours before it ends. Sometimes first persons shooters (and such) can't make it the distance without becoming boring. So in such instances I would rather have it tightly packaged and wrapped up as opposed to crammed with filler. However, I also don't pay $60 for those games. So there you go. Start releasing short (but quality!) games at $20 a pop and I'm sure you'll do more business. Game prices are ridiculous enough as is. Thank Thor for piracy.
It sucks without Big Brother and it'll suck more with. Any big city does though. If you want privacy and a life free from all encompassing zoning laws and such, move out into the country. We can paint our houses whatever color we want and the air is better for us anyway.
No. That's still too expensive for a machine that just plays games. I don't want to watch films and listen to music on it, I have superior devices for that (and don't plan on going to HD-DVD or Blue-Ray anytime soon). Besides, I had no interest in the Playstation 2, save for the four or five exclusive games that looked to be worth playing. And in retrospective, there aren't any more than four or five games sitting in the closet with my original Playstation that I'd considering worth having. I had a lot more fun with my Dreamcast and GameCube and intend to continue doing so once I get a Wii.
Grand Theft Auto grew fairly stales after the second installment, and Halo was always overhyped. But in all fairness, I would imagine that most of the video games that I play tend to be rated Mature. I do have a heck of a lot of fun with Mario Kart though!
E3 was a bore. It was all hype and online photo galleries of scantily clad women. Maybe instead of throwing all kinds of money away on huge, flashy, shiny exhibits, these developers could try making games that aren't redundant and cliche.
Cover bands are lame. And bands that have their own music should be playing it. Trying to draw the crowds in with cheap imitations is not going to get you anywhere, except maybe a local Bat Mitzvah. Maybe actions like these will force all the little wanna-be garage bands to at least try being creative.
After a tiny, initial burst (if that) you don't really receive much of any stimulation. I never quite understood that "cool factor" in drinking highly caffeinated beverages anyway.
The past couple of Simpsons games really haven't done the franchise the justice it deserves. Wasn't Hit & Run pretty highly regarded? I haven't played a Simpsons game since the Genesis personally, and I didn't much like it. (Bartzilla was a pain in the ass of a sequence)
Pfff, Firefox! I want to see how many Slashdot viewers are actually using Linux... :P

No one surveyed me... Why do you think I pay for NetFlix?
Sony somehow figured out how to make their portable device suck even more, right?
And from looking at that list, it appears to be almost entirely yearly sports and movie licensed game. Good job proving me wrong!
Geeze, what kind of tiny things come stock?
I often do wait, actually. My hardware can play the stuff at super high setting by then as well. Though Steam sucks when you don't have broadband.

I hear that many kids have to give up video games entirely before they can fornicate...
