Last weekend I installed a computer for my cousin to use that is mother had sitting in a closet for years (It was windows XP sp2). I install all of the updates and one from 3 years ago put into a continuous reboot cycle. So even waiting a while does not mean the MS will fix a broken patch. The solution turned out to be boot to the recovery console and disable this service.
I am expecting a FZ28 in the mail today, is there some reference for this? it would make me feel a lot better, especially since I order a 3rd party batter with it.
Thanks,
Mike
and those who simply walk in with $500 and intends to make it last as long as they can, but know that the chances of them walking out with more than they went in are not in their favor. I think you are describing the video poker player.
They want just to extend their play as long as possible knowing the strategy for their game. They look at the pay table and can tell they odds right by looking. Knowing that the longer they play the better the odds hitting that big hand.
Video poker is a game of skill against the odds.
They say in the voice over that a user us more likely to accept a bad keyboard than a bad pointing device(in windows). And they are trying to fix the pointing device, since most laptops have the emphasis on the keyboard. In short they are admitting the keyboard sucks, but thats not their focus.
and artists are still be badly exploited by massive corporations
I never quite understood this particular bit of slashthink.
If an "artists" wants to sign and take the 1 in XXXX chance of becoming a mega star let them. Its their choice. Its still better odds than if they didnt sign. If another "artists" decides that they would rather go it on there own and dont care about becoming a mega star (since there chances without a label are about 1 in XXXXXXXX) then that should be fine too.
Its arrogance on our part that we think we know what it is better for them or that they dont know what they are getting into when the sign up.
In short if you had a 1 in 5000 chance of becoming a multi-multi-millionaire but the not becoming one meant financial ruin would you take the chance? Let them make that choice.
That is the most useful document ever!
The merchant adds a surcharge for using a credit card as a means
of payment. Businesses do this all the time if you dont meet their minimum transaction amount.
There have been comments made by ASUS execs that Microsoft will offer a $40 version of XP to eeePC buyers. So Microsoft is very scared that the eeePC could cost them mind share. Now if I could get Kopete to work on mine...
This point was hinted at in a few post but I am just going to say it.
This just points out the mind share not money is the most important thing in the developing world. Who ever wins that wins the future and Microsoft is scared that it might not be them.

How is this any different than software licenses in this regard? or copy protection on games?

Concerts are just a draw to get you to buy beer...
