I didn't say anything about the *speed* of it, and I must admit I don't know much about it's implementation other than a few scattered mentions in Wprost which my wife reads (I cannot read polish).
Eh, I bought a 1702FP from TigerDirect and it was terrible.. I was sent two bad. I was just unlucky I guess for getting a bad batch.. I replaced it with a nice NEC 1760NX with a 16ms response time.
I'm happy with the NEC, it is a much nicer monitor; but, alas, about $80 more.
I have been working from home since September, 2002. For most of this time I was working nights while my wife was home; however, recently my schedule is changed and I work while my wife does.
I do programming and unix systems admnistration.
1. I do not close or lock my door while working. My wife knows not to bother me. She visits sometimes and sometimes I'll leave to hit the 'fridge or the bathroom and I'll say hello. As long as you don't have small children, leaving the door open is ok. 2. Get a laptop with WLAN. I started going nuts being in my office all the time, I switched to the laptop for a month.. then switched back. It was really refreshing. 3. Go outside. If it is summer/spring, take the laptop outside. Maybe have a picnic with the wife while working, just don't lose focus. 4. You may or may not need a cellphone/speaker-phone/landline. See what your employer recommends. I simply have a landline for making outgoing calls for reboots to the datacenter.
Financial info for independant (1099) contractors: 1. Get a Certified Public Accountant. Even if they charge you $300, it will be worth it. 2. Save your receipts for all tech-purchases. (related to your business of course). Keep track of gas mileage that you use for travel. 3. Do not buy computers, they cannot be deducted after the first year. Buy parts. You can only deduct the first year if you fulfill certain criteria, but they are not hard to meet. 4. Education and eduational material can be deducted if it relates to your job function. You won't be taxed on the $40 you paid on that perl book, or the $400 you spent on that college course for C/C++ Programming.
Finally, If you're a US citizen, don't think that moving abroad will get you out of paying taxes. You will have to (legally) pay the higher of the two taxes.
It is the love-child of a coney (rabbit) and a hobbit.. although considering how much hobbits enjoy eatting rabbit, I'd doubt that such a thing would occur.
I live in Pennsylvania and I've been using an international proxy server for a while because I don't trust either my state or my federal government.
Often, but not always, I use proxy servers to mask my location and avoid the possible censorship; especially while looking for information regarding the Iraq invasion. Aljezerra for one has blocked the USA at times from fully accessing their site. I would not doubt if my ISP or government has been censoring or monitoring the activities of their customers/citizens.
3drealms (late apogee) released the source and has a very large mention of this linux port on their frontpage.

Duke3d in Linux

· Score: 2, Insightful
The MacOS port was done by a 3rd company (like a Loki for MacOS). That source is not provided.
I'm sure the x86 asm will eventually be removed and thus run on other architectures, but that will be a bit tedious. Build took icculus.org ~4 months to port to x86 Linux and I don't believe it runs under PowerPC at all yet.
Duke3d is based on Build and thus why the Duke3d port to linux was so quick. Some functions used in Duke3d were also ripped out of the linux ROTT port.
Essentially, it might have taken a bit longer for the Duke3d port if BUILD and to a lesser extent, ROTT where not released. Infact, Duke3D may never have been released if it was not for the sucess of the ROTT release!
Well, the official duke3d source is out now, so it is probably a better to base a project off of that:) icculus.org has finished the Linux port and porting *that* to Windows should be trivial.
I'm not at the school anymore. I found a job and a wife. I'm going to school part-time. I'm in Pennsylvania, a bit far from Florida. I thought it would've been neat to meet Rusty at the time (since I did have his code) but it never happened.
I was at the school for only a year, hit academic probation but wasn't worried as I had already new plans (the wife). I'm doing excellent in school now, though.
icculus.org is working on a port, but it is not ready yet. I am sure they will be the first to complete it, as they have a lot of experience and completed both ROTT and BUILD ports.
You forget to mention that in Germany welfare pays very well and many are content with not working and receiving their free paychecks. They also get money for each child they have.
Why work in McDonalds for $6/hr when you can get $5/hr 'looking for a job'?
If the voting system was fixed, peoplen't wouldn't have to fear of 'wasting their vote'; however, guess who put the voting system in place? That is right, the two parties which you must select from!
2003 cannot be a leap year, it is an odd numbered year. One rule about leap years is that they must be an even numbered year.
Besides, April isn't any longer in a leap year.
My uid is > 10000 simply because in the 'good-ol-days' I thought that posting as AC was sufficent and saw no reason to register.
Eventually, I realized that nobody read AC posts and registered.
2 years? Haha. It has been crap since before then. I think that the 'slashdot is getting crappy' is just bullshit. It has always sucked.
I still read it, though.
Like anyone has ever heard of that game? It isn't even ported to Linux.
I didn't say anything about the *speed* of it, and I must admit I don't know much about it's implementation other than a few scattered mentions in Wprost which my wife reads (I cannot read polish).
Yes, the backbone sucks in poland.

This is not only in trial in many places, but in full-scale production.
Poland, for example, has been rolling out power-line internet for at least a year.
There are cheap converters for that, though. The 3rd point is simply ground and it can be grounded elsewhere or not at all :)

Don't trust anyone.
Better late than never. Duke3d was the only game I had ever dualbooted for.
Just to point out that slashdot takes too long posting articles; otherwise, you might have seen the linux version mentioned here first ;)
Icculus.org had duke3d compiling and rendering within a day.

I know, I think it was submitted by many (including by myself, twice).. they just don't care :)
Or your project for linux at http://openduke.sourceforge.net/.
I found the source on Rusty's fileshare at school and asked him if we (icculus.org and friends) could port it..

Where are these mythical stores without cards? I've never seen single one where I live, Philadelphia.

Just use MPlayer, it supports most Quicktime files.
