If you bothered to read my entire post, I said
When the console launched hence the old link. If you bothered to read the entire link you posted:
a $399 price tag now nets Microsoft $75.70 - before the unit has been shipped however. that profit amount is before shipping costs - and before the 50 dollar price drop to $349.99 that it is currently at. So not only did you post an outdated link as well, it does not support your argument terribly well. My Google skills are doing OK... and so are my critical reading skills.
When the console launched it was losing well over $100 per machine, I doubt that the parts have dropped that much in the last year to make that kind of money for M$. Especially considering the fact that the price of the console has been cut $100 already since launch.
An excellant point. However, I do believe there are still ways to definine specific situations that would warrent an "M" rating as opposed to an "AO" rating - without giving away details of Manhunt specifically. If you are going to regulate a product, the public has every right to know the specifics of the how and the why.
I enjoy horror entertainment in all forms, but if you wanted to know which I would prefer, I would have to say games make for a more frightening experience in most cases.
I like the fact that in a game I have to choose to walk into the next room, knowing full well that demons and zombies are bound to jump out of the vents and closets when I get there. The dread comes from having to choose to put yourself in harms way so as to progress in the game. On top of that you are playing in the perspective of the character, rather than a third party merely observing the scene. This makes it easier to relate to the hero on a more personal level.
In a movie I often choose to not care about the cast, as the characters of horror films often do stupid things to get themselves in scarey situations, so I end up being more amused by their impending fate rather than fearful.
Strange coincidence, but I remember playing this game at my cousins house almost 14 years ago and just a few months ago I found one of the original Chexquest disks at a local thrift store. Mayhaps I'll upload the image to ThePirateBay sometime...
It is so frustrating for me to see things like this. You take away more and more responsibility from people, you in effect take away more and more freedom.
I should be allowed to watch what I want, do what I want, smoke what I want, and drink what I want and be held responsible for any consequenses of my actions.
This all sounds quite normal for the music industry, in fact it was probably much worse for musicians before the digital age. Americans have this glamorised view of musicians but the reality of it is that even many signed musicians still have some kind of second job to pay the bills. I know a good many unsigned bands who have a large following and the fact is, until they get a recording contract, they will be bussing tables no matter how many people buy their cds.
"Best RPG"? The categories are useless and should be done away with, given the results. Rather, these awards should be: "Most Hyped #1", "Most Hyped #2", "Most Hyped #3", etc... Basically, it's whatever got the most coverage from G4 this year.
From what I can gather from the article and from the Korean gaming trends... Starcraft would have been #1 if only there was an ability to buy in-game upgrades and items using a cell phone.
Such an interesting culture, I'd love to visit there someday. (South Korea, that is)

The End.
BTW... they are fun and addicting games, and I still love them. However, I would rather have movies based on the stories from warcraft or starcraft universes, much more depth)
I don't even like XBox. You don't like The Box? I hate The Box. I loooooove The Box! How could you not like The Box? Who's The Box? Who's The Box! The Box is good.
Citizens cannot use google maps, however the government can put a video cammera on every street corner and on security helocopters flying around the major cities?
Didn't everyone rush on the "wiimote is a gimmick, and the wii will never sell" bandwagon before? Now the wii has outsold the xBox360...
"gottacatchemall" is a perfect tag, props!

"We do not want people to scrutinize the way we arbitrarily make willy-vanilly decisions on the way we rate video games."

I cannot put into words how awesome John Carmack is. A true pioneer in video game graphics.
Hence buying a PS3.

...and so cometh forth a collective pouting lower lip from 12-year-olds worldwide.
30 years is tough. He is probably really anxious and stressed, I suggest he take some x.a@x!

Great story, thanks! Makes me want to visit there all the more.
You obviously havn't seen Spaceballs. Down, rabid basement dweller! Go back to your craftpipe!

World of Warcraft: The Quest for More Money
This coming from the company that does the equivalent of LEGO selling unpainted/uncut plastic minifigs for 15 bucks a pop.

2007 estimates:
Austria 20,982,000
Europe 710,000,000
Japan 127,433,494
European PS3 sales don't seem all that impressive to me for 2.5 months.
