Google will translate for free, at the click of a button...LOL! Hiding data will get your stuff TAKEN away from you, and possibly you and your business fined! Also, if there is an agent that is a geek, they will easily spot this type of activity. No matter what type of OS you use. I am a network engineer, I know Windows and Nix; which includes all versions of Linux, Mac, and Microsoft OS's.
Morse code and punch cards were deciphered; your hard drive and its contents can be hacked even easier. I use Nix tools to do this at work for folks who loose their passwords or data.
Encryption is to keep the "not for you eyes" colleagues and competition out, not skilled geeks or skilled agents.
aaaahhhh...$60 for me without the digital package...LOL What the heck does TV channels have to do with getting better rates on Internet? Dicrimination to those of us who do not watch TV?
Yes, I remember the days of Compuserv, AOL, and the others that existed back-in-the-day! They charged a connect fee and per hour/minute usage. If they can get together a plan that would be affordable, I wouldn't mind this. This should open avenues to push bandwidth to WAPs that just sit all over and you can connect and have access from anywhere.
Just as T-Mobile does with their WAPs....course they are way to expensive to use everyday, but the concept sounds good.
Lemme Guess...you are an idiot???
In this Country there is also a law that protects consumers. If you buy something that is advertised....It damn well better do JUST that!!! This is the reason they are getting a class action suit against them. False advertisement!
microsoft is apparently doing something about it on their own EVEN THOUGH SOME DOUCHE is trying to get free money from them because their game didn't work for a couple days. Waah waah waah.
M$ accepts the money without a problem and they are not giving anything back for free, in my experience (M$ has never given anything away). Free is not an option to M$, they do not beleive in free software or services that has anything to do with a product. They are giving back; hoping to escape a class action law suit. Which is not going to work. They have collected too many millions, the courts will enforce and ensure that they make it right with anyone who has sunk their monies into this service
When you get a drivers license, you sign an agreement not to drink and drive, speed, cruise...etc! Have you ever driven 1Mph/Km over the speed limit? Agreements are for their protection..not YOURS!
I am helpdesk...Dell does have customer service here in the US, Alabama, Texas, New England states. I have spoken with customer service in all these areas.
You need to keep your comments when you don't know what you are talking about, and maybe do some research when you make references to other entities.
You say you are returning a Wii, well my son has had to return his XBOX, twice, same issue!
Please keep ignoring! As M$ is not giving you anything without a hidden agenda...sorry to inform you.
Sure. Will the monitor or computer deploy a parachute if thrown out of a window on th 75th floor? How would this technology assist, you can't destroy the ghosts in the closet in this case. You can't get away from your computing issues; forever being haunted by Microsoft?
I agree with focusing on the products at-hand, getting them to run correctly. Seems as if they are throwing in a non-soothing remedy for getting over their crappy programming capabilities.
Not to mention that the consummation of double-click and Google is causing M$ to feel threats above and beyond what they (M$) considers fair. Oh, now that someone else can corner M$; all of a sudden someone is not playing fair. Fair, you mean only they (M$) has the right to control a market??? And no one else does? hahaha M$ are real (excuse my language) "Bitches"!
Does this means that M$'s ads will diminish or will Google charge them billions to advertise, causing them to take back-seat from now-on? I see double-click ads everywhere on the Internet. Now that Google controls that ad service, they are on everything that hits the Internet, even on Non-M$ supported OS's and devices. Google is everywhere now! M$ is fighting, but essentially going to be put in its place, finally!
Are ads the key to the power of persuasion? Psychologists, Marketing departments, and M$ seems to think so. Now that the shoe is on the other foot, M$ is crying Monopoly!!! Go figure that out.
M$ needs to just take back seat and watch how the power of freedom rings. Off Topic: As I am black and originally from the Southern portion of the US, M$'s practices reminds me of what life is like as a black person in this Country Open Source has been the Declaration of Independence in this case, and has given me freedom of M$/Slavery when I switched to Linux. Screw M$ Royally! Don't mind me for using FREEDOM as a reference to my opinion!
For me, using Open office at the moment is like stepping back to ms office 10 years ago, why would I do that- ms office came with my PC so it hasnt cost me anything (it did, but not directly) and more importantly in businesses the users aren't charged anything- it's just an office expense
Actually, it costs me and the organization I work for "Tons" The latest issues encountered with MS Office. Being forced to upgrade to 2007 or deal with an issue of not being able to save documents as they become "read only" all of a sudden (just the beginning). Office 2003 and causes major issues when you have SharePoint 2007 installed as an Intranet. You are pretty much forced to upgrade to Office 2007, not to mention the learning curb of the differences between the two.
I am helpdesk and spend more time resolving Office issues more than any other product we support. I personally use OpenOffice and don't have these types of issues... At all.
Actually, in my case and in the case of the organization I am employed at, these issues can consume weeks if not months of time we can spend on IT projects. Over the past year, I have been putting out MS Office fires. With OpenOffice, just before this last update of the product, the only issue I found is that the presentation app in OpenOffice didn't display MS Office's layout correctly. That has now been resolved, OpenOffice is even a better fit now than MS Office, to me!
I don't disagree with everything you mention, just wanna mention that MS Office has its mighty fare-share and then some, in the issue department that will COST major time and money, from an aspect of someone who supports users that use the product.
I agree with the many different distros to be tried. I actually found that Linux Mint is more stable on my Dell Inspiron, out-of-the-box, than Ubuntu. I only need to be mindful of how I upgrade my system. As long as I utilize Mint's upgrade methods my system remains stable.
I do have Ubuntu 7.10 installed on my desktop systems along with an XP box that I used for splitting movies. Now that torrents have taken sharing to awesome heights, I no longer need to split nor use XP.
Linux Mint has fewer upgrades than Ubuntu, however, when updates are released there are fewer issues with the system overall.
I have used many distros. I have used Ubuntu since its release. I love Ubuntu, but I love LINUX even more. Linux gives its user a choice depending on the user, the system, the laws, an organization, and just about any other circumstance dictating choosing an OS.
My Very first box!
I also had my first taste of call-back!!! I am talking about callback on the telephone. I experienced this when attempting to swipe some free time on Compuserve. After connecting and going through some files and reading a bit. I received call back from their modems, and then from them. They said I owed them some $400 dollars for connection charges. Ahhh, go figure with a 9600 Baud Rate modem. That thing was blazing; so was that floppy compared to tapes. LOL
I loved this thing. Was on it before and after school punching away at the program books I bought. Some of the projects were like blooming flowers, that took two to four days to type. This was when I was a one-fingerer. Time was of no essence though, the technology had me stunned.
I got this in 1984 and finally let go in 1988. The C64 served me more than well, during the time I owned it.
I loved it myself.
However, if this is for business, then you can keep your bandwidth down. Especially where I work...University. Seems students come to school to learn how to P2P.
Limiting dynamic media can ensure that you will have a robust network for document sharing.
I would never purchase anything like this at home, unless I am running some type of document server. Which, I am no one-man corporation that has a need for this type of product, and don't think I will ever run a database outta my apartment with this kind of overhead.
I do agree with you on that front though!
However, Redhat's source code is available. XP's is not. Apps can be re-written by just about any DEV, for the OLPC machine if you knew Python. This in not possible for XP and or its services.
So it does kind-of-matter what's under the hood.
As soon as you install XP, virus protection, firewall, and Spyware protection; finally the SP updates...Low Disk Space alret!!! Not an issue for the current OLPC machine.
Why break it if ain't broke??? I know...cause you're a techy!:)
Exactly...
Also, if I were Neg...I'd actually have Bill hand-over source code for XP and any M$ app that would and could possibly run on the device. Eye-for-an-eye!
Otherwise, I'd let him continue to fail along with Intel on the classmate pc. It's not that I don't like Intel. I just don't like that they team-up with M$ for any project. Or just say screw him all together!
Why can't he (Bill) just face-the-fact that his bread-and-butter is getting stale. We want want it our way, like Burger King. I know Bill put them ladies up to killing the King in the new commercials...Just like him! hehehe.
Ant to all, a good nite!
Not to mention that this screws-up the global Internet as a whole. This not only affects Comcast users, but those who are communicating with Comcast's users via TCP/IP. The stop bits prevents a Fiber/DSL user from communicating with the Comcast user.
They are affecting the Internet as a whole!
This is TRUE! Numerous times while playing Unreal Tournament, I may get kicked and Computer reboots because of some idiot out there running hacks, that effects files on my system (Thus the auto-reboot).
Yeah....what ISSSS new!
LOL
The USD is no longer a "reserve currency". This has broad implications for the US' ability to "project force", and its loss of superpower status. Quite smoking my signature! The USD is not this Country's reserve. The USD is a note of payment (legal tender) to be exact. Our reserve comes from precious metals, resources, trade, and free enterprise/The TAX man. We have a mass abundance of the rich here as well.
Also, for the US to not be a superpower means that this country has been freakishly sucked into a black hole. I served for this Country, trust me, we are nowhere near any less of the ultimate power, next to Martians. WE choose not to implement total annihilation, just cause we can! Don't get it twisted!
Yeah, you're a troll!

Not to mention...I can't stack computers in the closet of my apartment, as I stack my shoes...they don't fit. I'm already budgeting getting rid of some of the boxes I have stored. Why should I go by another computer when I already have five boxes and three laptops?
Doesn't make since to continue buying a new computer every year. Unless they can create a cheeeeeeep disposable PC. Speaking for myself...can't fill-up every square inch of my living quarters with older PCs. That space is needed for living.
My Dell Inspiron 9100 is 4 years old now, and still runs faster than half the PC's produced today. No need to replace this. It plays the latest games, and runs every-other piece of software I need for work and classes I am enrolled in.
I would rather see them collaborating on bandwidth rather than new computers. Working where I work, on a domain, it is proven over-and-over that computers run faster when on a computer network that has adequate network bandwidth.
They destroyed the power harness in my Eagle Talon, when I had them install a CD deck. They claimed it was the fault of the repair shop troubleshooting. What the f(*&-ever...Worst Buy.
They will owe me 300 bucks if I gotta bust windows...darnit! I have not forgotten this, and they will pay; for I am from the HOOD!!! Just waiting until I seriously need money. I will hit them up with every trick known to mankind. Bet the m*&^-f(*&^* house on that!
I mean, after all, they provided an OS which the masses acquired and learned how to pirate, provided a basic I/O system to store pirated files, and provided a networking stack to push/pull pirated data.
I'd love to see them go after the giants. Now, in this case, I'd support M$ until I'm blue in the face.
Use Linux...you become geeky enough to avoid most radars. LOL
Nope...next step Microsoft for providing an OS that was easy enough for everyone to learn how to pirate, to pirate, and a means to get the pirated files in and out (IO system) or shall next up be C, C#, C++, VB.Net...etc AND et al!
I don't know why people don't like it. I've got nothing but great things to say about it. Obviously it's not going to be popular with "people who are highly-appreciative of Linux on the desktop" (to choose my words carefully), or those who don't like Microsoft for any particular reason, or "people who are highly-appreciative of OSX on their Macs" Couldn't perform admin maintenance using active directory tools on domains for months; couldn't install KyoceraMita network printer drivers, which are needed to use the printers on our network...Linux, MAC, WinXP, Win2000, Win98, and even WinME connects to the printers just fine.
If helpdesk can't use it, neither will our users. We are switching to thin client technology before upgrading to Vista. Will not purchase systems from our computer vendor that has Vista, nor have they suggested that we use it in our network. Our printer vendors can't use it either, as they pull data from all of their products (paper counts, usage, preventative maintenance)
Furthermore, Vista seems more for entertainment than work. Overhauling the desktop infrastructure just to upgrade to Vista not feasible for us. To cut costs for our future, we need products that works. This software giant thinks they are above the laws of the SDLC model; think again!!!
Not hatin' on Vista; nor do support or advocate the use of Vista!
I agree! I think its a cloak for the person to use this information, but not before making sure lots of folks also have this info, before the original hacker stole the info starts making purchases.
Can't have nuttin without some fool uckin' it up for ya!
No, I don't have any friends...Chuck whipped them and then locked them all up and swallowed the key.
Jerry...Jerry...Jerry...!!!
The Taliban is awaiting a phone call from Bin Laden from there...I thought you knew?

Pawn me; pawn you; pawn everything!
