I think the point was this family didn't agree with the state's method of teaching and wanted to teach their own content.
I can understand in the U.S. where the public school system is really bad (and yet I still have to find a home schooled person who can stand out from the crowd in terms of general knowledge); but Germany has a very fine school system.
What is often forgotten in this debate is that in school kids don't just learn subjects, they also learn precious social skills that you cannot learn at home.
And obviously you're a flamebait moron who adds no value to a conversation. For starters FIAT has made and makes some pretty good value cars, in terms of price and quality/use. Second, they represent more than one brand, including Ferrari
Actually world economy is based on the value of gold (and oil, but gold first and foremost) and if all of a sudden there were mountains of it the economy would collapse. The U.S. for starters would have to turn Fort Knox into a museum.
It's a lot more than that. End of the World? Well, it all depends by the meaning of "end" - it's all relative.
I live one hour from Yellowstone and studied and always been interested by the geology of this place. Yellowstone's supervolcano has had 3 well known major eruptions, the last one, the Lava Creek eruption (which created the Huckleberry caldera where all of Yellowstone Lake resides, and then some - imagine Mount Vesuvius' caldera with its several hundred yards in diameter versus Yellowstone's caldera with its 45 miles diameter) deposited 3 feet of ashes in Ohio. That was enough to create a nuclear winter around the globe. The next eruption, which in geological times it's due now, might not cause the "end of the world" but sure as hell will make the human race step back to an era before machines.
On another note there are studies supporting the notions that thousands of life forms went extinct in one of these eruptions. It sure was the end of the world for them.
No it wasn't. It was some of the US fighting against some other US. That's why it's called the Civil War. They wouldn't lose the country in that civil war, The US would have changed in size and politics but it's nothing like losing the country to a foreign enemy. And seeing how narrow minded are those people from the South I wish they had won and became a different country.
Here's an interesting thing they could think of. Ask users to pay a small monthly fee to see who views their profiles
You've been subscribing to too many porn sites. Facebook is a social networking site (keep in touch with existing friends/family or meet new ones to play) it's hardly a dating site. I wanna dare and say that the majority of people has privacy setting on, you cannot see past the name and small photo, therefore no one can see their profile in full. But Facebook has an infrastructure that allows for apps and many users use them (if not all of them) so they could charge for some of them (like the stupid birthday reminder, I hope so, so many people will stop using it and stop asking me for my birthday).
Screwing users over is great for short-term revenue, but companies who are in it for the long haul value things like brand loyalty.
In this universe things work differently. Take eBay: it had huge brand loyalty and it has been pushing and pushing and people have been abandoning by the thousands. eBay last March actually created (because of a bug according to them, yeah right) a hundred thousand fake listings right in the middle of a user boycott to show the numbers were actually up instead of down. Their stock has been plummeting. Companies with public stock have stopped caring about their users/consumers long time ago. Maybe in your universe things are different, I wish I lived there;)
Did you see the photos? They put the F-22 on a photocopy machine.
You guys really believe all this to be real, don't you? :)

Fiat's not a car, it's an Italian crapmobile.

No, the economy is not "based" on the value of gold. The economy is "based" on human labor and trade.
Oil prices have important effects, since a gallon of oil replaces 50 man days of mechanical labor.
Gold is a luxury item with no inherent value.
Obviously you never took a course in economy, much less a degree in economics.
How the F*K is the above comment a flamebait? Not agreeing is different than flaming

We can always go to Pandora and kill a race to mine something there
Gotta love this planet, no food and water but we sure have weapons.
Funny... breaking the sound barrier when there is no sound
The sound of the skydiver screaming: "oooooooooh craaaaaaaaap!"
God meant only for Superman to break the sound barrier without the aid of a machine.
Watch them next year making an announcement that they're going to be free again. I said it first.
We live in a world that is constantly bombarded by radio waves, can't really hide anywhere.
It would be in line with today's trend of dark futuristic movies.
The first year of that comic wasn't bad at all, I still have them all.
I have the biggest dick so you can pretty much end it here :)
Except that in 1912 Americans were pretty much mostly Europeans. And I don't recall American Indians flying over Antarctica
I went to PC, after all the years doing communications consulting for Amiga Inc.
Commodore killed the Amiga commercially. I should know.

The British always say whatever the Americans say. Look at Iran and Afghanistan.

So in summary, you're still hoping the LHC destroys the planet before he gets home.
Or maybe not ;-)
