Looks like my perception was a little distorted.
So if merchants are responsible for detecting fraudulent use, couldn't/shouldn't Microsoft also be held accountable (fined) for negligence by allowing a lot of credit card numbers to be easily compromised?
If my parents got thier CC# stolen from passport and some guy bought a thousand dollars in hot grits, they would dispute the charges. No biggie. If I was VISA on the other hand, I might have a different perspective.
This means that the companies who need to write drivers will finally get their "Official" copies of it so maybe we have something to tell all the meanies who keep calling and cussing tech support that we don't have tested drivers for it yet. Sure the Win2K drivers are supposed to work for XP pro and the Win98 Drivers are supposed to work for the home edition or whatever they call it, but I can't help but recall how everything was supposed to work the same on ME...
I support the use of our clients products on Linux. We however are not permitted to have even a standalone Linux box on the premises period because it was deemed by certain people a "security threat". We can download viruses all day, and offload our secret plans or whatever since they determined we needed webmail to communicate with our clients, but you need Linux.. sorry, thats just too big of a risk for us to take.
Orbital Power Transmitters Are for Morganites. I'd rather spend my credits doing weaponry upgrades.

Erector sets were a great toy, but lego men with all their guns and swords and stuff just rawk.
If you still got a bunch of lego dudes you can really save some money you'd probably spend on Warhammer troops and play some cool games. Last week I started working on a room in my house to be a Lego strategic gaming room. One thrifty idea for a battle area was takin an old bedframe and boltin plywood to it, etc. Heres a few links to some lego wargame sites for anyone else who needs inspiration or gaming rules or whatever.
If the Brits can build schools out of cardboard, and Sadam Hussein can make guidance systems out of playstations, I'll be danged if I spend all my hard earned cash on expensive wargames just to have fun.
From what I hear is they think it may be Afghanistan Opposition forces, and not the U.S.
They don't know what country it is but they are blowing the crap out of them.
If so, maybe old people could all get on a big gravitron ride until their grills get fixed.
Regarding its effect on laser printers.

I had read that it is supposed to hang Hewlett Packard laser printers with web interfaces. We had an issue today where a client's Minolta-QMS laser printer with a web interface was affected in the same manner.
Hasn't hit any of our servers but I keep getting the w32.sircam worm in my email all day. I reply to them all with easy to comprehend AOL language... "You've got worms."
I question wether or not this is what you should be trying to tell a 'newbie'. These types of issues should not be the end users concern and there is already enough confusion for many new users. This should instead be the concern of the people who develop the package systems and improve security methods, not the average desktop user. For the experienced, like someone else said this falls into the duh category. I don't complain about articles that are boring but this one is just wrong. Similarly, I won't tell someone to inspect thier engine for problems after it's installed by their mechanic, that is what they pay thier mechanic for. Ever consider you're asking too much of the user?
Have you now, or have you ever been a member of the Communist party?
Also, why is it that Microsoft feels that it is not neccessary to have an MCP for Windows ME (because XP is shipping so soon), yet it IS neccessary to ship the OS?
First of all I'm really impressed by the display in particular.
I would like to be able to have a watch that could use lcd4linux. Cross that and a timex pager watch and then we'd have something. While I don't see XWindows or a command line shell real practical for a watch, I do think it would be great to customize what is displayed. It would be hella nicer than using pagercodes and errorcodes to do the same thing. By the way, anyone using the timex care to share thier experiences? I really want to toss the old soapbar.
My point is nip the problem in the bud. You wouldn't have to worry about a drug dealer trying to sell to your kids in school if your kids were bright enough not to do it in the first place.
And the sick content on the internet.. Well, just show your kids how to check the link before they click on it if they read/.

What is worse, to say you don't support something or to claim that you do but provide lousy support?

Why not charge a buck or so a month and call it Lendows?
