Yeah my 2 year old LG laptop has fallen off my bed and the back of my couch (4ft) onto carpet and survives. It was $1000 at the time of purchase. I'm sure it wouldn't have survive if it was on solid ground, but still. 4ft is not that far. I expect more out of a 'rugged' laptop.
Exactly, these people were targeted by the RIAA who has no proof of infringment and abuses the system. Whether or not they are actually guilty, the RIAA should be providing proof, which they are incapable of.
Windows being installed on H: is typically because of a card reader. I don't know why Windows XP wants to give them first dibs on the drive letters, but if you have one plugged in when installing XP, you usually end up with an installation on a random letter. Only way to fix it is to format with the card reader unplug (just an fyi).
They always point to piracy, but fail to mention the fact that SecuROM doesn't stop it, it seems leads more people to it. Spore was pirated, what a week before it's release? So what good does hurting the real customers do? Who cares if they care or not? Where are those stats?
They are avoiding the actual issue with useless stats. This is why I refuse to buy EA games as well.
Combine that with the fact that some of them claim to be the OS telling you that you are infected and to buy some fake program. I can see Microsoft's point. They really can't prevent this kind of thing because you can't fix stupid. A lot of user's trust the pop-ups from ads and end up installing a lot of this crapware.
I have no problems with Vista either. I'm a gamer, both my home and work computer have Vista Ultimate and 3GB of RAM. ATI Cards and Dual Core processors.
It doesn't freeze or crash. The only time it's given me problems when it was resetting my graphics card driver, but that's because I overclocked it too much and once I turned it down a notch it stopped.
There are plenty of people who don't care for a lot of things. Skip the article and read something else.
Just because it doesn't apply to you, doesn't mean it doesn't deserve front page status. Not to mention this isn't just about facebook. It's about IP laws, etc. So if you don't like it, then don't read it and shut up.
Cam quality sucks and for a movie as good as this, people are going to pay to see a quality version in theaters. Even if it was a terrible movie, people would still pay to see it. They are wasting their time trying to delay piracy.
The bills do honestly look legit. I always wondered how they were getting away with it. It would make me laugh though, they offered me their best deal of 4-6x what I am paying my current registrar.
Yeah, I've installed SP3 on 8 systems now. 1 gave issues (I decided it was because it was a pos clone) the rest worked flawlessly. It's funny that anything problem with windows is turned into a bash fest but when apple product go wrong with the same sort of thing (updates fucking the system up) people tend to just ignore it.
While this is true, the risks are equal to people using Internet Explorer to look at porn. So should we ban porn? Should we ban IE because it's easily exploited?
And while limewire and kazaa (and the many other programs) have a a good chance of infecting you, what of bit torrent, it's quite a bit safer. Why should it be banned when it's has so many good uses.
(Yes I realize you don't agree with the argument.)
He did phrase that badly.
In either case this whole thing is ridiculous, it'd be like me sending letters to anyone linking to one of my domains because I don't want them publicly accesible.

What about Opera?
Which loads faster for me than any of the 3?
I'd test the new Safari, but as my friend pointed out it fucks up Windows Live Messenger, so I'll wait until they fix that. If they ever do.
It also borks Windows Live Messenger on Windows Machines.
Seriously, I don't think this is that big of a deal.
Just make the switch and stop those annoying commercials.
I thought it was music that caused school shootings?
Games cause all other violent behaviour.
They should keep their stories straight.
That's what I came to post. Why is no one going after Apple for the same shit.
No one is stopping people from downloading a new browser so give it up. Opera, I 3 you, but you need to stop doing stupid shit.

Only one way to find out, let start a class action lawsuit!

As long as you disable UAC, they run fine.

It's still 100x better than the cam.
I watched it in theaters and then looked at the sample of a cam version which is barely watchable.

Nothing works better than a mouse and keyboard for FPSes.
Gaming.
They apparently see things differently.

UAC can easily be disabled. I also see why it's there, but I understand people frustration with it. I don't think it was implemented well.
Better in your opinion. Some users have trouble with the over simplification. As a friend of mine recently found out.
Vista does run fine, if you know how to use a computer. Though yes, if you want something different, buy a PC and go with linux.
I can't justify telling someone to spend the extra few hundred on something that "looks pretty", when a PC with Linux will do just as good.
Though in reality I agree with Rary and am glad to see I'm not the only one not joining in in the constant Microsoft Bashing.
How is this going to help? Don't the shooters usually kill themselfs before the police get them anyways?
Do these people even think anymore?
Though I supose the argument of "think of the children" applies.
