If some of you folks took the time to know what you're talking about before you spew you'd know that this open sourcing has been in the works for months. Long before the KHTML issues cropped up.

I understand where you're coming from. I figure most of /. does. But I hope you don't let the normals know you think that way. You'll end up with a reputation as an arrogant prick.

  11. shuffle to avoid repetition. on The Joy of Random Shuffle · · Score: 2

I shuffle not because I have a short attention span. I can listen to Ravel or Debussy for hours on end. Why? Cause its not the same tune all the way through the album. Same goes for real jazz music. It's not the same song all the way. Its different.

However, I can't listen to one album by some pop tart all the way through because after ten minutes I'm really over hearing the exact same song played in a different key.

Well, there would be a case for an antitrust suit, firstly.

Second, we tear down MS because they do moronic things. Instead of including a Virus scanner how about just working to make virus infections less of an issue in the design of the OS?

  17. Re:Commercial vs Creative Use on Eminem Sues Apple for Sampling his Samples · · Score: 1

I'd always thought of it as being an endorsement of Eminem by the little kid.

Incidentally, I believe it was at the iTMS announcement that Steve Jobs actually showed off the iTMS by buying and then playing an Eminem song and saying that he was trying to get into Eminem and he's starting to like it.

Apparently Eminem doesn't like his fans.

  18. before everyone gets a little crazy on Search and Seizure at the Supreme Court · · Score: 1

If the officer was specifically asking for ID then he can go shove himself. This is the US you're not required by any law to have ID. It's nice to have if you want something like a bank account etc.. but its not the law to have one.

However, if the officer was asking for the man's driver's license, which is plausible since he was sitting in a car parked or no, in Virginia at least and I assume every other state it says on the license that you must turn over your license upon the request of an officer.

If the officer was using the wrong words and asked for ID that doesn't have to exist then he can shove himself and you can all continue ranting.

Oh, and if you have an ID issued by the DMV, at least in Virginia, it too states clearly that you must surrender it to an officer on request.
